Yeah a lot of games opt for fully manual just so it's safer. KOTOR and Jade Empire are manual. All of the Final Fantasy ports have manual upload / download. The way Jade Empire works is when you save to the cloud, it actually appears to save in a completely separate slot, and then that slot is the one that gets synced. I suppose that helps avoid issues.
Heroes and Castles 2 also implemented the manual save a nice way, easy, slick, and never lost a save while switching between devices (just downloaded the iCloud save, played and then uploaded the change...provided I was proud of my progress that session).
Thanks for the tips. I think I have it working now. I implemented someone else's code and the game now sends the save data to iCloud automatically and then whenever it plays, it checks the iCloud server for the latest version of the save game files and loads them if they are newer than the version on the device. Should be in the next update, which will be a huge one with lots of new enhancements and stuff.
Yep. Though wait until the update hits before installing on a second device. I think if you already have different saves on two devices then only one of them will be saved.
Hey guys ... submitted a big update today that adds iCloud backup / synch and lots of cool UI enhancements. Also, characters can now move multiple times in a single turn! Here's the full change log. Hopefully Apple will approve it soon: Enhancement: iCloud synchronization of save game data added. Data from your device will be automatically synchronized to any other devices, allowing you to play the same save game on multiple devices. Enhancement: Characters can now move multiple times during battle provided they do not move more than their maximum movement range in a single turn. Enhancement: Significant redesign of HUD with many enhancements. Enhancement: HUD elements now slide on and off screen when no longer needed. Enhancement: UI enhancements added. Turn counter display has been enhanced to show the current turn in a more impressive manager. Enhancement: The attack summary in the GUI has been increased in size and shifted to the right side of the screen to make it easier to read. It also now indicates if the target is behind hard or soft cover. Enhancement: Sylvan Elf Rancher, Pyromancer and Mage Hunter character models redone for better appearance and higher polygon count. Enhancement: Store now categorizes items by quality so players can search through cheap, medium and expensive items more easily. Game Balance: Minor changes to character abilities and stats. Bug Fix: Several minor bugs fixed.
And still you support this game with another great patch! Thank you. # So many excellent changes. I just started a new band of heroes in celebration. # EDIT: Okay, the new patch reset my old game progress in the campaign back to the beginning. ☹️ At least it kept my characters exp levels and equipment/gold, etc. And it seems that when you now clear a dungeon of enemies you lose any non picked up gold, whereas before you could continue in the dungeon and collect it. But I do like the new HUD improvements and the ability to continue your characters movement stage is most welcome. #
That's odd ... it should have restarted your old game to only the start of the week that they were on. So if you were on level 3 of the undead quest, then it should have started you on level 1 of the undead quest. That was the only way I could come up with to retrofit the campaign progress method into the old system. Do you remember which level your old save was on? No ... actually the game automatically picks up the gold for you. So now you don't need to worry about picking up the stuff after each battle, you get it automatically. It's a little unintuitive but I figured it was easier for the player that way. Glad you like it. I'm actually doing a play through now as well. If you could let me know if you run into any issues as you play through, I'd appreciate it.
@WaveLightGames Arh, all good then. I had only reinstalled DR1 back on my iPad recently as I had to remove it to allow room for DR2 (even with 128GB I keep running out of space) so I was not far into the campaign. And as I said it kept all my characters exp/items so restarting all over was not so much a big deal. And thanks for the clarification on the gold pickup. I'll be playing DR1 a lot over the coming days so will let you know if I run into any issues with the new interface.
Fantastic. I'm most concerned about campaign progress. With the new system, there's a possibility that finishing a campaign level doesn't let the player progress to the next campaign level if I didn't set up each level right. I didn't have time to fully test this since the only way to know is to play through the whole game again.
I started doing a clean playthrough on my wife's iPhone 7 plus with all graphics options enabled including bloom. Wow ... the graphics are just fantastic. The bloom effect on the torchlight and dimly lit caverns is just beautiful and really atmospheric. I'm thinking of possibly toning down the green tinge on the dungeon walls to a more neutral brown / beige in the next big update. Working on the Android port now and will see if I can finally get that working.
When try to play chapter 32 it keeps kicking me out to home screen. The store do not have any option to filter the different type of items to buy. I am playing on iPhone SE iOS 10.2.
@paulopingol I would say this game is very similar to blackguards (i have played and loved 1, but still not 2). The first time i tried it i went in thinking it would be like ff tactics, but it is not that much so. Now, regarding bugs, i have found a strange one. I clicked the options icon in the camp, where you manage the party, the game would then go nowhere. I mean the little window for audiooptions shows up, but then if you click resume, it would have no effect, the little window would not close and you couldnt get anywhere.
Thank for letting me know. I'll fix that. The store filter is a mistake on my part too ... I forgot to add the filter button. Will get it fixed in next update.
Never played Blackguards though I do recall seeing that the screenshots were similar. I'll probably pick it up on my PC or Mac and see if there's anything I can learn from their implementation of the genre. THanks for letting me know. I'll fix it.
Just confirmed that the campaign buttons that go to the last 4 campaign levels are broken. Sorry about that ... I'll have that fixed in the next update. I should be able to submit the next update next week. I'm in the middle of getting the game ready for Android so I'm not able to shift back to iOS as quickly as I would like.
As a new player that wasn't apparent. I was actually holding off killing the last enemy to make sure I got the gold. Maybe have the collection animation go off? Love the game, btw.
Thanks ... I could perhaps just have a pop up message that says "Gold Collected" or something when the gold is picked up?
