Hmmm ... I'm sorry, I have no idea what would cause that. Do you recall what happened? Did you close and exit the game normally or did it crash on you and then you reloaded to find them gone? Were you creating a new party? Is it possible you created a new party rather than loading from the save screen? If you could try and recollect what happened in the game before this occurred, it would help me to figure out the issue. I haven't run into this myself so it's almost impossible to diagnose the issue without more information.
Just a quick update on the next patch. I think all the coding is done except for some minor adjustments I'm planning to make on the chronomancer's abilities. I'm in the thick of device testing now. I'm playing through all levels with a team and also performing all skills / abilities for all 28 characters on a real device to make sure that the new animations work and nothing else has broken. I'm also testing each level for the in-game battle system to make sure that there isn't anything weird in the level that prevents loading from a mid-battle save. Sorry there's no shiny screenshots or anything to show at this stage but things are moving forward. Should be another 2 or 3 days of device testing ... if that goes well, I'll push out this update.
Made some game balance changes today: 1 - Made starting stats of heroes betters. Made ranged attacks get a higher hit chance and upped starting life and attack damage on most units. Some of the stronger heroes didn't get a boost so it's more of an adjustment to make the heroes on a more level playing field. Anyway, should be hitting a lot more in the early part of the game. 2 - Adjusted summon spells to be either way stronger or lower cost. For example, the skeleton champion summoning spell is now the witch's 4th spell and not 5th spell. Most of the other summon spells now summon more powerful creatures. The Gnome's steel golem spell now summons a Dark Steel Golem, which is much tougher. Similarly, the ranger's treefolk spell summons an ancient Tree Giant, which is the equivalent of a level 5 or 6 Tree Giant and not a level 1, as it was previously. So hopefully the high level summoning spells will now be worthwhile. Giving the enemy units projectile abilities that do area damage really amps up the difficulty. I've had whole teams of low level heroes get wiped out from a couple of grenades or area effect spells. It's really tough actually ... I haven't yet beaten the second level of quest 1. As such, that's why I'm boosting the starting stats a bit. Also, I've tweaked the chronomancer's abilities to be better and also to look more impressive.
I keep meaning to start playing this game, but every time i'm about to start the came you keep making posts about releasing a new patch! Good job, dev. Kudos to your dedication!
Thanks for the kind words. I'll try to get this update out as soon as possible. I would suggest holding off until it arrives. The game is a solid experience in its current form but honestly the new changes in gameplay mechanics, balance and UI really make a huge difference. Also, the existing levels have all been updated with the new gameplay elements like mercenaries, shadow area bonuses, new enemies and magical totems so it'll be worth starting a new campaign even for those that have played the game through already.
Problem on ipad mini I have been lurking on these forums the past few days and decided do finally buy demons rise on my ipad mini. sadly when it boots up and i click new save and get to the point where you can choose your type of team or create your own, a loading bar will appear and go up to 46 percent before the app crashes. and yes my account was made just for this post EDIT 1: now crashes on 58 percent Edit 2: using premade saves works yet clicking form your own warband takes me to loading screen that gets to 46, 48 or 58 percent then crashes
Which version of the iPad Mini are you using? Is it the first generation iPad Mini? If so, I'm afraid that the game won't work on it as it needs a device with at least 1GB of RAM and that version of the iPad Mini only has 512MB. If that's the case, you can request a refund from Apple via the "Report an Issue" button in iTunes. If you're using the iPad Mini 2 or later, it should work. Let me know and I'll look into it.
NVM i was wrong. i dont have enough ram. I asked my parents if i could get a new ipad for my Bday but until then i cant play
Not a problem. Sorry about that ... I tried really hard in the early stages of development to get the game to work on 512 MB RAM devices like the iPad Mini and earlier but in the end, it was too difficult. Unfortunately, I can't initiate a refund for you from my end but it's pretty easy to do so from your side. Just use the Report a Problem button in the app store and just tell Apple the reason. I'm pretty sure they'll give the refund and then you can pick up the game again when you have a new device. I'll also be also working on the Windows 10 port soon so if you have a PC, you'll be able to play it there too with full mouse and keyboard controls.
Hey guys, Just a quick heads up that work is still continuing on the new update. I fixed the chronomancer's ability and made some adjustments for game balance to various skills. Now just going through the end-to-end play through with new teams and fixing stuff as I see it. It's slow but getting there gradually. The only thing remaining other than testing / bug fixing is the new game manual.
It was standard practice, really- I just got out of app while I was in the store and went to do some emailing. I've done it a hundred times in the past.
Thanks for the info. I'll try and reproduce it but I agree, it seems totally random. I've done the same thing many, many times without running into that issue. I'll ask around the Unity forums to see if save file corruption like this is a known issue.
Hey guys, Just a quick update. I've done the new game manual, which should be way easier to read on a small phone screen. Also improved transitions across levels so they look a lot nicer. That's basically the list of changes and corrections on the current to do list. Now just working on game balance tweaks and minor fixes as I finish my play through.
Cool! Keep up the good work! Btw, I remember you mentioned making abilities scale with character levels i.e the higher the level the more powerful ability becomes. Will you include it in the update?
I'm afraid I tried that but it required quite a few code changes. As such, I decided to leave that for the next patch. It's definitely still on the to do list though. Quick update, testing is going well. Gameplay is massively more challenging and entertaining with the new AI that can now use targeting abilities. I think I've worked out the bugs and worked through the very long to do list so will likely be submitting to Apple shortly ... possibly as early as tomorrow.

Absolutely agree ... I think it's a very important change as it allows low level abilities to be relevant in the late game where characters and enemies are really powerful. Still not sure how to balance the cost of those abilities but will figure that out. Otherwise, should be submitting a build to Apple today. I need to go and update the store listing with new screen shots and also write up the massive change log. It's a monstrous update with just a mind-bogling amount of changes, new levels, enemies, game balance changes, bug fixes and new game play elements / features. I'm just taking new screenshots and working on the change log. Will summarize the change log here as well once done.

I've made this version 2.0 since it is such a huge change. *** Now fully supports iPad Pro! *** New Content: 15+ new levels added to conclude the main quest story. New Content: 10+ new enemies to fight including zombies, high necromancers, reapers, mummies, skeleton dragons and zombie giants! New Content: A new playable character class, the Ogre Mercenary, joins your ranks! A fearsome fighter with a huge axe that towers over his enemies. New Content: Players can visit the Temple to gain favour from the gods. This favour can be activated in battle for one of 28 possible blessings. New Content: Visit the new tavern in between battles to switch out team members in your party to try new combinations without having to start a new campaign. New Content: Players can now hire mercenaries to bolster their party. Choose from three new characters, the skilled Marksman, deadly Freeblade or powerful Rogue Mage! New Content: Powerful totems have been added to many new and existing levels. These totems grant boosts to those that stand next to them and thus add a new tactical element to the battle. Overly bright green spots have been removed and characters are no longer illuminated in unnatural ways in certain places of the dungeon. Enhancement: Updated UI that includes "Next Hero" button that cycles to the next available character in the player's party. Enhancement: Updated UI to allow players the option to cancel any activated skill. Even skills that do not require a target now can be cancelled so that it is less likely that players accidentally trigger a skill. Enhancement: Added a "Tile Info" button that provides details on the terrain that the character is on and what benefits or penalties it applies to the unit occupying it. Enhancement: Improved dynamic camera so that it no longer follows enemy characters that are out of line of sight. Enhancement: Smoother transitions between levels and characters now animate in response to button presses on the main menu. Bug Fix: Fixed several causes of game crashes during battle.
