I could be wrong ... if it says in the store that minimum is 6, then that's what it must be. It certainly works on an iPhone 5 though ... that was my main testing device during development.
Awesome ... I'm jealous. Does the GUI elements all appear in the right place? Nothing that goes off the screen or show up in weird spots? I haven't had a chance to get a pro and test it myself yet.
The only thing I see that is in the wrong spot are the health/mana bars. They are one hex to the right away from the character. It is rather annoying. At least if it is too hard to move them back you have the option to remove them by tapping the unit info icon. Other than that it looks like everything else is where it should be. Without wanting to hijack this thread I will give a couple of my opinions on the iPad Pro. I had an iPad Air before and I only use my iPad for gaming and internet browsing. Big. The extra real estate is perfect for my needs. As a pc gamer who is increasingly finding that I prefer the iPad for games the extra size is very welcome. My eyes are not what they used to be and the Pro is much easier for me to see smaller details in games. But with that comes with a negative.... Games that are a couple of years old, now look a bit older. Any pixelation before now becomes somewhat more pronounced, probably due to the Pro having the same pixel count per square inch as the Air but over a bigger screen. It is not a major problem as the Retina screen keeps things crisp and clear but it is worth noting. However newer games such as Demons Rise look absolutely fantastic. It is fast! I had an iPad Air before and the Pro is definitely faster than it was with opening apps and browsing the net. So far all the games I have reinstalled displayed no slow down at all, but I have only installed a few and I have a couple of hundred to go. For its size the Pro is very light. However it would still become uncomfortable to hold with one hand after a short time. I have never been one to play iPad games without a stand so it doesnt bother me. Sound is incredible. It is hard to believe that four tiny speakers can deliver such power. The max volume is heaps louder than the Air and there is simply no distortion even at max volume. The stereo is very pronounced. If the game has surround sound capabilities then the Pro gives you that as well. I was simply amazed with the sound quality. Unfortunately I now know that Demons Rise is only mono :-( I love the Pro as a gaming platform. For me it was definately a good purchase. Hope that is of some help.
@stubbieoz: Thanks a lot fo the Pro impressions, very much appreciated. Sounds like Apple built a really solid package this time, avoiding the performance issues of the iPad 1, 3, and 4. That was really my biggest concern, that the RAM and/or processor and especially graphics power won't be enough to power the whole thing. With the same pixel density as the Air, and even stronger processor (and I assume PowerVR graphics chip as well), it gets really tempting to go for the big thingie next. Not to mention that I'd love to have the larger screen, even if it's with the same resolution as the smaller Air; and thus with less pixel-per-inch as you already noted. (I was hoping for something truly insane like a 5K "super-retina" screen...) Back ontopic: Especially if something as graphics heavy like Demon's Rise runs buttersmooth Which reminds me, because I cannot remember: @Wavelight, do you use Metal on the newer devices?
Thanks for the info ... sounds like a great device. The sound in Demon's Rise is mono ... making it mono cuts the size of the audio files down significantly, which helps reduce both app size and app RAM usage. Unforunately, it's not one of those settings I can adjust via an option as it has to be included in the build or not when compiling. When I release Demon's Rise on PC and Mac, it'll have stereo sound.
Yes .. Demon's Rise takes advantage of Metal. In fact, some of the better graphics options like Dynamic shadows work only on devices with Metal. They are disabled on non-Metal devices even if the player enables them during the battle levels.
Off the top of my head, I'm not sure why that's happening. I'll find out some more details about the Pro and see what might be causing it. I wonder if the Pro has a different aspect ratio than other iPads? Do you guys know the exact resolution of the screen? I can try to simulate that in my testing instance and then work from there. Otherwise, I'll have to get my hands on a Pro to do some testing and tweaking.
Did some testing with some new character models I got yesterday. Not sure if this will be part of the game or just remain on the cutting room floor. Here is an Amazon archer. A tad busty and not terribly well armoured but that is unfortunately the norm for women in the Demon's Rise world. I do hope to change that eventually but I am at the mercy of the 3D artists out there that I licence work from. Anway, she looks pretty cool and the idea of a barbarian archer could be fun. Her bow shooting animations aren't that great but otherwise, a pretty decent character. Do you guys think she's worthy of joining the roster at some point in the future or perhaps relegate her to NPC or enemy status? Screen Shot 2015-11-17 at 8.14.54 AM by Rajpreet Dhillon, on Flickr
Here you go, word of god directly from the source: http://www.apple.com/ipad-pro/specs/ Scroll down a bit to "Display": 12.9-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit widescreen Multi-Touch display 2732-by-2048 resolution at 264 pixels per inch (ppi) For comparison, Air 1 & 2 use the same display apparently. http://www.apple.com/ipad-air-2/specs/ : 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit widescreen Multi-Touch display with IPS technology 2048-by-1536-pixel resolution at 264 ppi Note that Pro and Air have the same PPI, but different resolution.
Thanks Nullzone, you just saved me a ton of typing # I like the look of the Amazon Archer, bust and all. I would like to see her as a playable character simply because I tend to always play female archers in any game that has them. #
Thanks for the feedback. I like her too ... just the only problem is that her bow shooting animation is really quick. I've asked the creator if he can make a better shoot animation. Otherwise, I can possibly write some code to make it work or take the animations from another character and migrate them to this one. Even if I do get it working, I may keep her for another Demon's Rise game, though ... there are already 2 female archers in this game, after all.
Doing some more potential character development for either future expansions or later games. Here's a female shaman / witch doctor character class. She has cool glowing eyes and some really nice animations. Will almost certainly be a future character class. I've also used her to upgrade the underlying animation code to make smoother transitions from certain animations. Probably won't affect much in Demon's Rise but will make things better in future games. Screen Shot 2015-11-18 at 12.01.18 PM by Rajpreet Dhillon, on Flickr Let me know what you think of her.
The Witch Doctor looks great, your best character so far I think. Save her for another game, DR has more than enough heroes already.
I just did a quick count and with the upcoming 1.6 content update, there are 113 characters in the game. 27 are playable character classes with the rest being either enemies or controllable allies during certain battles. 1.6 adds about 20 characters in total (most of them enemies) so I guess currently, there must be about 60 enemies in version 1.5 (current release version).
That's amazing. I've already purchased the game and tried a patrol level tonight. Managed to defeat the wyvern with the help of the dwarf dragon hunters. Loving the game so far.
That's great ... thanks for buying the game and supporting it! Which characters are you using for your first play through?
