If I was choosing a pre-made, I'd want to know the difference between the different options. Is one a group of mythical beasts? Is another an all-human unit? What's the benefit to the player of choosing one over another?

Been following this game and thread since release.

Bought it the other night and rated it on the App Store.

I'll echo others on here about the developer input being great.

I like the new party select idea. I've started with the developer's party a few posts back.

Fun game and looking forward to more of the upcoming patches.

Just picked it up since the updates out, even though I have piles of games I still want to play this. Anything I should avoid until there are other updates?

I highly recommend you improving on the overall beginning of the game via tutorial and I really like the preformed parties you are planning.

If someone isn't too familiar with this genre, the initial stage of this game is intimidating. You are thrown In head first with little to no direction, other than the admittedly weak tutorial. I uninstalled and reinstalled this game 3 times and kept retrying mainly because of this forum and the developer's enthusiasm.

A detailed, phased tutorial would be awesome. I highly recommend that. This game has serious potential.

How about adding tool tips to the bubbles for HP action points etc?

What everyone's opinion of the gold and treasure chests laying around?

I don't see the point in chests as they're the last thing I'll do after killing the stuff that fights back. And I don't need potions after a battle.

Same as gold on the floor. Just means once ive finished fighting I have to piss around slowing picking things up.

Just starting now and my first observations are that it would be nice to be able to rotate the character models when picking your team although not really necessary.

Everything else I said I just deleted, didn't spot the abilities button....now it'll be much easier to pick : ) but can you possibly have the stats button glow or something? I didn't realize it was a button to press to see abilities so others may not either

So I did the tutorial how to play after selecting my team but then going into quest next it'll let me use an ability on a hero but won't let me select another hero or move usually. Tried quitting and starting again and tried patrol once it let me move a character but still couldn't switch to use another.

Also ended turn on a patrol mission and it took the massed enemies quite a while to move!

Oh so anyone have favourites? Started with storm seer, ranger, tree, stone dwarf, dragon hunter and illusionist.

Archer and ranger are very good. Missiles are a bit overpowered at the moment as you can equip loads of items with + attacks. Melee you're restricted as once you move and kill somethinf, you have to wait for next turn

Hey guys ... here's a pic of something I did on the plane. Here's a character I'm thinking of adding in the next big update:

[IMG]Screen Shot 2015-09-06 at 12.20.48 AM by Rajpreet Dhillon, on Flickr

I'm thinking of doing a wizard focussed on light or perhaps shadow? I'm not really sure. Light spells are easy to write since it could be blinding spells, burning light, and so forth. However, the wizard looks like Gandalf the Grey ... who was a shadow style mage. I could have spells focussed around obscuring vision, crows and such. Might be a bit too similar to the Shadow Wizard from Warhammer Quest though.

Any thoughts on which way to go?

I think it should be okay ... I'm not 100% sure whether the last patch fixed the Illusionist mind control bug or if that's in the one sitting with Apple. Just in case, I would avoid using the Illusionist and possibly the Pyromancer too. Other character should be good.

Going to work on a phased tutorial this week. I'm thinking of having several mini stages in a linked row that go through the basics of gameplay concepts. Kind of alike a separate quest ... 4 or 5 linked levels where the player character is fighting against training dummies and the pre-battle story box explains the main thing that is being taught in that level.

In the HUD on the bottom left of the screen? I guess that's possible ... I'll have a look. So something like holding one of the bubbles brings up a tool tip box that explains what that bubble represents? I like that idea if that's what you mean.

Yeah, there's still a bug somewhere that causes this kind of lack of responsiveness at the start of a level. Only way out is to close the game and load that level again. It's a very tricky bug to diagnose and I'm not really sure what causes it. I have some ideas and I've put some possible fixes in patch 1.3 but I don't know if it really fixes it since this happens randomly. I think I fixed it in patch 1.3 but it could just be that I just haven't run into it. Do you mind telling me your team composition? I think it happens with some characters more than others.

Some patrol levels are really big and the enemy turn can take a while. There are some later patrols where it's literally a pitched battle between 3 or 4 different factions and it can be really chaotic. However, these levels are a lot of fun and the emphasis is for the player to try and kill as many enemies as possible while not drawing too much attention to themselves.

Seem like a good party. In patch 1.2, let me know if you run into a bug where the level doesn't end when the mind control ability is used. I fixed it but not sure if I fixed it in 1.2 or 1.3.

I think my favourite character lately is the Skeleton Champion. However his 3rd ability is a bit weak. Might adjust that a bit. I'm also finding a lot of synergies between the Storm Seer's healing spells and Shadow Elf Witch's hurt but buff spells. Dragon Hunter's second ability is definitely over-powered .... it'll be getting smacked with the nerf stick soon. :D

Those are some good points. The Treasure Chests are probably a bit pointless to be honest. For the gold, the main point of it is that it encourages players to move to a particular point in the battle. Gold picked up first by enemies is lost so sometimes you might want to grab the gold but doing so might put one of your guys in a bad position.

My lineup is the one you quoted last there and I did actually really want the skeleton as after playing Warlock for so many years I'm really drawn to DoT effects and life leeching attacks. But I took the stone dwarf for his defence and the dragon hunter for his op ability.

I'd like to see a more d&d style Mage, if you've ever played baulders gate?

Cool .. try the skeleton in a future play through. He's probably the one character that leverages the morale system to his advantage more than any other. He's fearless so isn't affected by enemy morale so can throw himself into the middle of enemies where his second ability (the sword sweep) can hit lots of enemies. He also has a high intimidation rating so will often make others panic just with his presence. Lastly, one of his later abilities is a teleport so he can teleport to get in touch with enemy wizards and archers that will panic really easily.

I have but not in a long time. Do you mean a more generic mage not focussed on a particular element or theme? So some generic magic missile attacks and then a mix of different types of spells? So cone of cold, fireball, etc.?

I was thinking of going that route with this character because he's clearly old so could well be a scholar that has learned many aspects of magic and isn't restricted to just one element or focus.

I'll probably restart and take the dragon hunter out since he will be nerfed I only wanted him for that one ability anyway and get the skeleton instead as I did really want him and you just made him sound even better.

Yes I did mean that with him rather than focusing on one aspect, if you go down the old route just be a Mage or grand master Mage? Possibly a Sorceror? But yes things that quickly come to mind are like magic missiles, fireball, acid arrow, mirror image, cone of cold, grease, Mage armour, summon monster, charm person, burning hands, sleep, meteor swarm, blizzard....there's countless spells and I know you've used some already anyway.

But I've just always loved d&d and the spells and abilities for classes making things more complicated and with more strategic options, even on WoW they do some really well.

That sounds cool ... I like it. I'll go that route with this guy. Let me know what your favourite D&D spells are and I'll try and include something similar. I think a variety of different types of spells would be good. Aim for him being the most versatile of mages.
