Here's a preview of the Dwarf Dragon Hunter's sixth ability. He takes some ale mixed with dragon blood and spits it out at his enemies. The concoction ignites into a massive fireball that does huge damage and melts amour ... permanently reducing damage reduction stats of those it hits. I think this is one of my favourite abilities in the game. It just love the idea of a dwarf spitting out flammable liquid made from the blood of the monsters he hunts. Any particular ability you guys like? Anyone planning to build a team with this guy when the update hits?
Just remind me not to having him as my drinking buddy. That would be a pretty fun skill to use. Just don't forget to have him burp after he does it for effect. How about a character that can throw his axe? The axe strikes out at multiple targets as it boomerangs outward and then comes back to him. You could show a chase cam view as it flies out. Then have the character reach up with his arm to retrieve it as it returns to him.
I liked that one too ... it's where you attack a small Ratmen camp and a flanking force of dwarves arrives randomly in a later turn. There are a few more "base attack" levels like that later on. There's a really cool one in the later levels where a large camp has some caged Cylops' in them and one of possible strategies is to open the gate holding them back so they run amok in the enemy camp. Pretty tricky to do so but certainly possible with a character that can teleport like the Chronomancer, Assassin or Skeleton Champion.
Just got this game! I have not had time to really sit down and play, but I played a few turns of the first battle and I know this is gonna be great! Also, I really have to thank you for not forcing a tutorial on us. I can not stand being forced to complete these.
Reviews I would encourage you to leave reviews on the App store, the developer seems to put a lot of work into the game and responds to forum requests/ideas.
Yup, the update is live here in NL too, downloading. That was really fast from Apple, well done. Guess I'll have to try a Dwarf-themed party now, no excuses On another note, Niels/Mangobile is awesome (check out his Kingturn games. If you like DR, chances are high you'll like them too). I already got a lengthy reply from him. Just need to process it, do some research, and then translate it all into English. Hope to get around to it tomorrow.
Hi Wavelight. Just downloaded the update. Ok, playing it again (deleted it before due to zoom issue)- - the graphics really are lovely - getting used to lack of shadows, still be nice option though. - gameplay is good. - the camera still has SERIOUS issues on iPad Air. It breaks the immersion for me so will delete again for now. Also, good camera performance is essential in this game to get behind walls etc for targeting and moving. The problem isn't so much oversensitivity. What's happening is the following- When you pinch zoom, it does zoom in and out, but it is functioning as a messed up screen rotate at the same time. I would guess the code is confusing the two-finger rotate gesture with the thumb+finger zoom feature. On XCOM the zoom and rotate is seamless and follows the gestures perfectly. I've seen camera issues like this before with new games and I'm guessing it's one of the more difficult things to get right when developing code! It needs either to function as thumb+finger=only zoom, two-finger-swipe=only rotate, or thumb+finger=fully zoom and fully rotate (XCOM). Or the other idea ie option to have zoom+rotate sliders/buttons. I hope this helps, I know you were busy getting the other bug fix done for this update. Look forward to being able to get into the otherwise great game when it's fixed! I can't really post a review until these issues are fixed though.
agree with above. the game is ruined by the zoom and rotate camera controls. ipad air 2. v 8.3 Nothing else to complain about. Please try and fix/create workaround
Thanks ... I did have a set of touch screen buttons and sliders to replace the touch controls for zoom and rotate. However, I had to scrap it because it was causing some random behavior and I didn't want to delay the release of this fix to get that working. I'm going to take another stab at it now.
Thanks ... I'm still planning to add an option for dynamic shadows. I just haven't had the time to get to it yet. I'm going to see if there's an optimized for mobile solution but if not, I'll add an option to enable dynamic shadows in the graphic options. That's a good point. Perhaps I need to disable two finger rotate when a zoom is occurring so that any small movements in the fingers are ignored with regards to screen rotation? I'll look into that and see if that improves things.
That sounds like it would solve it. It's great to see a developer so dedicated to answering all our questions and fixing stuff! Will look out for the next update.
Thanks guys. I managed to redo the on-screen controls for zoom and rotate. They seem to be working very nicely now: Screen Shot 2015-08-25 at 6.21.32 PM by Rajpreet Dhillon, on Flickr I went with buttons (top and bottom) for zoom in and out. Much easier to code than the slider ... which was causing all kinds of weird issues. Seem to work nicely to me. I'll take a look now at improving the pinch to zoom and 2 finger rotate controls. I think the trick is to make the system interpret either a zoom action or a rotate action and not both at the same time.
wizard character ? Who is the best wizard character ?. I am beginner in this game. Can you please suggest me. Thanks in advance.
Had time with all my purchases last week and still playing them all but may add this one to the fray now as I do love this style of game mainly having different units with different abilities and getting a mix that I enjoy. I was worried but the camera control posts here but I can see your still really actively working on the game. Which shouldn't surprise me given your efforts in the upcoming thread.
The pyromancer's second to last spell that shoots out phoenixes has a huge damage zone and gorgeous effects. In fact, a lot of his spells are aoe damage and hit hard. I'm going to try stacking AP and APRegen to see if I can get it up every round. Careful though, fire doesn't discriminate.
Made some good progress on improving camera touch controls by not allowing any rotation during a pinch to zoom. Not quite perfect though as rotation isn't as smooth any more. Still a lot better overall. Will try a few more things along this avenue of thinking. Hopefully, I'll push out another update shortly with just the camera improvements if I can get them working tomorrow to my satisfaction.
