It's okay, the price will be going up soon anyway to $8.99 (I think). The extra character content is my way of justifying that price increase. Here is the updated character select screen with the Feral Ogre and Tenaclid Overmind: Feral Ogre Select Screen by Rajpreet Dhillon, on Flickr There's just a big empty space for 3 more character slots....
I know the theme is dark and demonic, however which unit would best be the healer/buff spell caster. I'm not happy with the group of six I selected as there is not enough support magic. My team is the Werebear, Black Orc, Demon Knight, Corsair, Void Walker, and Shamanness. Do I need someone else for healing/support? Rob
It's cool ... I like the classic D&D / Fantasy look of the leather straps and iron ring. Also, I'm not convinced a guy with that much insulating blubber on him would actually drape himself with fur. He wouldn't really need the warmth and would probably just get itchy.
Yeah, I would switch out the Demon Knight or Void Walker for either the Blood Shaman and / or Huntress. The Blood Shaman has a healing spell that also increases attack damage and the Huntress has an ability that heals all adjacent allies and herself. You can change a team member for 2000 gold so no need to restart. The XP and equipment carries over to the new character.
I like how the game suddenly steps a notch and gets harder (some may not like this choice) but I love it because it forces me to go back and feet stronger and do quick missions instead of beating the game in 2hrs
Yeah, I like it too. For me the game is much more fun and rewarding when you have to think about every decision and silently pray for every spell to go off right. During the later levels, if you end a battle with 3 out of your original 6 man-party alive and you took a few major risks to win, the challenge is where I intended it. Not every level of course, there are some that are easier and some that are just on the edge of being too hard.
Anyone got to campaign level 11 or higher? There's quite the sudden change of fortunes for our intrepid band of bloodthirsty killers.
Got a great review from Pocket Tactics! http://www.pockettactics.com/reviews/review-demons-rise-2-lords-of-chaos/#Comments Went into a lot of detail and drew out comparisons to classic D&D and such. A good read.
Doing the build for the 1.1 update that includes the following: - New Content: Feral Ogre character class added. A large, tough fighter with several brutal combat skills. - New Content: Tenaclid Overmind character class added. A powerful wizard with mind controlling powers. - Enhancement: Fast Forward button added to UI that allows you to adjust between 3 game speeds at any time, both during the player and AI turn. - Enhancement: Tactical view and Pause Menu buttons are now visible during AI turns. - Enhancement: Improved the Were Bear's "get hit" animations to appear smoother. Game Balance: Shadow Ghoul attack range increased by 1. Game Balance: Void Walker Mutation ability changed to affect all friendly units within a 3 tile radius. Game Balance: Characters that are stunned can no longer perform counter attacks during the enemy turn. Bug Fix: Fixed a crash bug that occurs when Tutorial buttons are pressed at the end of a tutorial level. Bug Fix: Fixed a non-responsive bug that sometimes occurs when Void Walker's mutation ability is used. Bug Fix: Fixed a bug where potential enemy targets for the Shadow Ghoul's attacks would not be highlighted correctly. There might be a few other tweaks that I'm forgetting. I need to test it on my iPad Air for a little while and if everything is good, I'll submit to Apple tomorrow. Hopefully will be released before the end of the week.
I was hesitant to mess with the other fighter for 2000. Maybe a tool tip to explain this. Knowing what it does now, seems great.
That's a good point. If you click the button, another screen comes up that explains it but I'm guessing that a lot of players won't click the button for fear of losing the gold for something they don't fully understand.
Don't be cheap. That's all I have to say about that. @WLG congrats on another substantial release! I purchased DR1 but never played it as I disliked the variety of characters to draw from at the games beginning. I'm probably odd by comparison to other games but I find it overwhelming trying to pick a party and then being in fear of "buyers remorse" after discovering the party ma not be viable. Anyway, I am looking forward to playing DR2 and have gifted it to my brother and girlfriend already. Why? Because I'm sure it will be awesome but more so I want to SUPPORT CANADIAN DEVS! ############# Wishing you nothing but continued success my friend... and hopes that Austin Matthews can take you to the playoffs.
The game is incredible!! Really enjoying myself! Campaign level 6 wow was that hard lol I had to use some of my blessings to come out alive! That two headed dragon was hard but I got through it
Thanks for your support. I agree that I went a little nuts with the character classes in Demon's Rise 1. There is no logical reason to have 30 character classes ... it is just overwhelming from a choice perspective. It also means that each character is not as well tested or balanced as the 10 in DR2. I'm going to increase the characters in DR2 to 15 in total and then leave it at that. Yeah, well ... I've given up on my home team (the Leafs) doing much in the playoffs. I'll be happy if they make the playoffs, I suppose.
Thanks ... the game is seriously more fun on the more challenging levels. The 2 headed dragon is fun ... it's flame attack leaves the ground burning and turns it into harmful terrain. Very nasty and it means that you can't really hunker down in one well-defended spot.
