iCade control is the best option, it works like a charm and adds value to the gameplay. HDMI TV-out is good as well. Suggestion: subscribe iCade thread: you'll never lose those kind of info anymore ;-) I voted for it. Even if I don't like games "on rails" and time trials I did it because of iCade support and... because it's a very well done game
I think the reason most developers ignore it is because it requires a lot of work and testing, and it is very easy for it to go wrong. Actually, undeadcow found a really nasty bug with the original version of it during beta testing that helped us make it more solid. I agree that it is one of the coolest features of our devices and so that's why we persevered and made it work.
Just wanted to let you know that we submitted an update today to fix the broken achievements and I figured I'd put all those credits you've been earning whilst replaying events to good use, so now there's a "Credits" leaderboard to see who has the most Credits! Assuming, there are no serious bugs we've missed, the next update will be a new tournament called Champions. This is where the AI will start getting very mean and nasty. I'm starting work on this tomorrow!
The update should be live now. I know because the TouchArcade App told me You should be able to get all the achievements now. Sorry about the inconvenience! Anyway, now that's out of the way, the "Champions" tournament will hopefully be next.
The Android version is ready for testing, so if any of you have Android devices or know anybody on TouchArcade that does that you think would enjoy Delta-V Racing then please give them this link to sign up via TestFlight please. http://tflig.ht/P67OHe Also, I've made a thread specifically for this here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=199818 Thanks.
Just bought. Highly recommended. The controls are smooth as butter, nice variety of tracks, weapons, and vehicles. Hectic fast paced racing with various modes And no IAP Support this dev. This game deserves more attention --- Some ideas/suggestions: - a Gauntlet mode (enemies have weapons, you don't) - a Leech pick up (either shot at the racer in front of you, or affects the racers around you, drains speed from them to you - maybe not right for this game but would love to see some kind of environmental hazards (energy barriers, lasers, turrets, etc). The twitch gameplay here is great and I think stuff like that could some replayability, some more variety, and more tactics while racing
Achievements earned offline dont sync to Game Center. Had to replay again while online to get them registered ('Gold Medal', 'Sectors Star', 'Perfect Lap', maybe others). Then before the achievement could pop the game quit back to dashboard. I'll invest time into games for achievements, but not if my progress isn't recorded because I went offline.
Oh no, sorry about this! We definitely cache your achievements if the call to Game Center fails and it should submit your cached Game Center achievements the next time you sign into Game Center. I'll test this again and try and figure out if there are some edge cases we may have missed. Hopefully, you won't have lost all of them... the progression based achievements that have a percentage earned are kept track of by the game as well as Game Center so the next time you make progress and are online it'll update to where you currently are. What specific device and version of iOS are you using? Thanks.
Love the suggestions! - Gauntlet mode: I kind of play it like that anyway, because I'm so intent on beating ghosts that I focus on flying as fast as I can. Having it as a proper mode where the AI are particularly aggressive and ignore each other and focus on you could be awesome, but seems like a lot of work. Having said that, I'll have a think about how to achieve it and will try it out when working on the next tournament. No promises though - Leech was a feature I dropped due to time, although my version was leeching shields not speed. You can kind of leech speed in the current version by flying closely behind one of the other ships (just make sure he isn't glowing because he could be holding a rear facing weapon!), and when the red bar fills up, your ship boosts, just like going over a green boost pad. - I tried to add a bunch of variety and to constantly change the way you play. But yeah, I would have loved to add a bit more but ran out of time. I'm not sure if you've got to it yet but the Elimination event is really about destroying all your opponents as fast as you can, although you can just race normally and win. That's why the times on the highscore table are so low. Another event that is pretty different is Collector which requires precision flying and you're not always best off picking the fastest ship, or going over boost pads. Sectors is about actually trying to slow down your ship so you can last as long as possible. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, I love reading it, and please do keep it coming!
Gave this some time last night and played through the first cup and unlocked the second. I took the time to replay each level until I got gold in them all. I know folks are saying how great the controls are, but I found that using my thumb along the left edge of the screen didn't work very well at all in races as ship in some situations ends up under my thumb. Using my right thumb on the right side of the screen was much better but it kind of gets in the way of the upcoming track. The way the controls change precision when the vehicle gets faster is kind of odd but I'm getting used to it as long as I'm using the right side of the screen for movement. One complaint about the tutorial. It says to get a boost touch the screen when the word "GO!" appears. I tried that I don't know how many times and it failed every time except once... but if I just rapidly tap right before go appears I get the boost every single time once Go shows up. So the boost launch is kind of silly. At first I kind of had buyers remorse. Folks were doing a good job of hyping this. These are folks I trust when it comes to iOS gaming. But the game is thankfully growing on me. I'm not sure I'll take the time to grind for high scores, but I'll at least play through the second cup before deciding if it's something I like enough to finish. Sorry for the jumbled up feedback. I wanted to post something. Seems like those with icade have a huge advantage for score chasing.
I love any feedback so don't worry about it being jumbled! I probably should have been explicit about how to hold the phone and where to put your fingers in the tutorial but I figured since you could use anywhere on the screen, players would figure out what suited them. I actually don't recommend you sliding on the left. You should ideally slide on the right with your right thumb, and tap on the left with your left thumb. So holding the phone like the tutorial shows or like a handheld game machine... yes, you do obscure a bit of the track, but if you're right on the edge then it won't be too much and you should normally not be moving vertically anyway because it slows you down, so you only touch the screen when you need to move. With regards to the boosting of the start line, the tutorial says "tap" not "touch" and even shows an animation of the player's thumb tapping. So touch the screen and remove your finger. It works as long as the word GO is still on the screen. You can constantly tap (which is why it works) for you but if you don't time it then, a player with great timing still will boost of the line quicker than you. People with iCades are definitely at a disadvantage in this game. There is no way you can physically move the joystick as fast as you can slide your finger or with the same precision. When I'm in the zone on the Sectors event, I can pretty much complete it without hitting any walls! In fact, I'm going to increase the maximum number of laps on that event in the next update because a few other players are able to get the maximum score on it and I wasn't expecting that! Anyway, thanks for trying it out! I hope it does grow on you.
Touch/tap... same thing. The point was just that rapid tapping always works to get some kind of boost. Most of the time it's the same as whatever ghost has shown up. Sadly other games have gotten in the way and I've put no more time in with Delta-V. I will play it more, just got hooked on Ninja Striker! What a fun & challenging little game. I think it may help me dig more into Delta-V's control scheme.
I thought I saw a posting where someone asked what the difference is between the two control schemes but now I can't find it or a follow up answer. So, I'll ask the question again because I'm curious as well. It seems like the alternate control scheme is simplified and makes it more like a slot racer. Is that a fair assessment? Sorry if this question was answered already.
Nice, thanks for the replies. I noticed something else last night when I was playing that I couldn't figure out. When looking at the ship's stats, what does "AI" mean?
