Ads and IAPs Removed from Deflecto! hey zxy! I just went back to play Deflecto after a long time and realized you have removed all ads and in-app purchases! That's awesome, i think it will do much better with this setup. And everybody who got it for free now has an ad-free version too! dev learned a lesson on this one. premium is the way to go
yay no ads hey, that's great news. much better imo as well are you still working on your new game for the apple tv? are you gonna post in this forum about it or start a new one in upcoming? would love to see what you're working on these days
thanks! new games thanks guys...just realized i needed to change the title of this thread! @joinein yeah, i'm actually working on a couple of new games for the apple tv. still waiting for full unity support. I'm also attending the apple tv developer conference in austin in a couple of weeks! one game you play as an alien saucer, controlled by the acellerometer, another is a flick golf game where you can steer the ball as it falls. its all pretty premature but the hardware is exciting. i look at the new remote and tilt my head sometimes. its so weird.
new games, same look? awesome to hear about the new games...are they just for apple tv, or still for ipad and iphone as well? that's a lot to consider control-wise. i agree that new remote is kinda weird i vote for the flying saucer game, but i would play either are you staying with the same look/feel of deflecto for the new titles? i thought you really hit on something there, i'd love to see you build on that same style, but thats just me!
@romanwilly new games are both for iphone/ipad/appletv - it is a lot to consider, but basically you mainly have to base everything off the new remote and go from there. its easy to emulate the controls for iphone. i havent worked yet with mfi controllers but i have one and i plan to implement that stuff as well look and feel for these games is similar to deflecto so far. i want to incorporate hand-drawn animation in gaming, so i may work that in after the prototyping is complete. still trying to figure that stuff out, but its coming along i'll post some screenshots when i get to a good place
hey zxy, awesome about the update! how are you developing for atv without full unity support? how do you deploy/test?
@thumbs07 thanks very much! if anything I want it to be original! @munchkin75 right now I just deploy to iphone and use a lightning-hdmi cable to export to tv. then just control with iphone. thats the workaround until official unity support is released. I've read about people actually using the real atv remote but its still a bit of a workaround. i like to wait until the dust settles a bit.
freelance low-poly hey zxy, is that apple tv dev conference invite-only? i was tryinig to figure out how to attend. also, I am working with someone on a project that needs similar look-n-feel low-poly animation to deflecto. I'm wondering what are your thoughts and availability? j
yeah, i guess it was invitation only. teams with apps on the app store only...i feel so privileged now! haha the project sounds interesting, i may be able to help. can you give me some more info on a private message? or if you wanna chat i can private message you my phone#
lower difficulty? hey zxy, ive been getting back into Deflecto lately, especially since i'm now somehow able to beat levels a little easier. is it me or did you lower the difficulty of the game?
@munchkin75 thats awesome, I'm glad you're giving it another try. I actually did lower the difficulty and simplified the game in a lot of ways based on a lot of feedback I received about people not being able to beat even the first level. I also added an indication when the player beats the first and second of three clouds so it doesn't feel endless.
rad! whoa, how did i miss this game for so long? i love the style, and its hella original! seriously, in a world of endless genre repeats, this is something new! refreshing...gonna play more and post a review
rad! Deflecto reviewed done and done...here's the review i posted on the app store just now: using your finger as the paddle is such a natural evolution of the brick-breaker. Its perfectly built for touchscreen devices and offers a new twist on the brick-breaking genre, freeing your defenses from the bottom of the screen. It could be described as a cross between multiple 80s games: space invaders, breakout, asteriods yet modernized with 3d physical destruction.
i find the touch input is not always reliable nor responsive... perhaps there is a bug with my hardware only (A7) ? iPad Air, ios9.1.
controls hey cerbo, I haven't received any criticism so far about the controls not being responsive...not sure what the problem is. One thing to check, just to be sure, if you hold your finger still on the screen and wait for the meteor to touch your finger, it won't respond. only if your finger hits it directly or if your finger swipes over it. This is technically covered in the "how to play" tutorial but perhaps easily overlooked. The hardware definitely shouldn't be the problem. only older devices aren't fast enough to play properly. hope that helps! zxy
