And in addition to what the previous poster mentioned, the dialog to explain what purchases in the Great Library do are also native pop-ups.
What do you guys think is the best IAP for the game? I don't mind spending a bit on IAP and I was considering either the 2X Token + 30%XP bonus or the Iron Wolf
golden owl (2x token, 30%exp) is better token grinding is quite good with general with max moral and a map with a perfect win (no guild sold and no gate lost) with equipment having moral+ 4x and bowman command max with bowmancore att+ helps to play like <1min to finish a map try to buy only the min guilds necessary so you can play less with max output or play freestyle at a the highest level you can win perfect you can see the differences of your units in the academy if you have cleared all maps with a character if you have problems with the difficulty boost cunning and bowman (general) and sorcery and mage commander with (melwen)
Thanks guys it's hard to get good help around here lately, and I applaud you for taking your time to address me. Thanks
There is something wonky with this mechanic. Sometimes when I press and hold a text string (a unit's speed, the general's Morale, a hero's resist value, etc) for an explanation of the stat, the press does not register at all. This seems to happen mostly after I've just tapped and held another stat. There seems to be a second or so of delay before DC2 is able to register another tap. Also, some words are just too small to press reliably (in particular the list of hero stats, such as class, attack, source, radius, etc, in the Skill Allocation screen). Also, plast2, any word on the issue mentioned in the quotes below?
lots of interesting comments, its nice to see the devs stepping in. thank you for the earlier picture Gimka. the game LOOKS very nice judging by the ipad3 screenshot, but the animations are still awful. i second the korean freemium app sentiment. i'm not an iOS programmer yet, but i am a programmer, and it just feels like you're doing something wrong if the reason you're making the animations so limited is due to resources. maybe you should stop programming for the lowest hardware denominator and move the bar up a little. there are a ton of screen complex games with great graphics/animations out there from the last year or so. nonetheless, i'll still keep this game on my wish list, to keep track of the updates and hope to find one saying 'animations' sometime down the line.
Equipping items is kind of clunky. I just discovered that placing them in your inventory from storage doesn't "equip" them. Now that might be a d'oh on my part but it isn't that clear. Also, to equip the weapon the text box covers the slot that it is supposed to be equipped in and I can't get it to equip. There are things that are still exciting to me but trying to equip a weapon a 100 times and failing is making my excitement wane.
the first dc wasn't so nice at the beginning there were some flaws in the first few versions of the first dc but they improved them i remember better animation in the later version of the first game so i think they will improve the gameplay maybe some new maps more equipments maybe lowering the price or more token output adjusting the difficulty in the higher levels just be patient i think they will turn the game to something great but you have to accept the grinding and repetition and in my opinion the story is told quite weird it seems to have some story holes or jumpes whatever (BUT congrats to the speaker he's great ) but normally you play it because of grinding and thinking of strategys to clear the higher level or beating a lower level with just one or two guilds xD i feel like the game was made for the fans of the first game but i can't remember a tutorial in the first game either PS: equiping: just tap the equipment and drag it(right away-don't hold it) to the green outlined square on the right top in the heroes menu or storage or in the shop to equip it just like the first if you played it only the five squares on the right top are the equipment for the hero
gunxsword, the merchant toolkit doesnt need to be equipped; it can be left in stronghold or inventory. The other 3 must be equipped and a hero can only equip 2 of them in the accessory slots. The drop of spoil of war (SOW) item is random but the value can get up to 70 times the tokens reward. For instance, if you get 30 tokens, the SOW may worth up to 2100 tokens. The guardian wolf will give you 4 chance drawing per battle (instead of 1) and will use the highest number to determine the value of the SOW item. So, it's like completing 4 battles and you take the most expensive SOW out of them. Note that the selling price of SOW is much lower than the item that you buy from shop. The selling price of SOW item currently is 6.25%. So you can sell the item above for 2100*6.25% = 131 tokens. In v1.0.1, which we are going to submit today, the selling price of SOW has been greatly increased to 20%. So you can sell the same item for 2100*20% = 420 tokens.
rozetta, the team against having a refresh button in the shop because they think it doesnt make sense. Its already better than the early release of DC1 where everyone has to play a battle to refresh the shop; now you can just exit and enter. We tried 8x but its too fast. Defard, check the Academy. Attributes modified by items and skills are also shown there. Ayjona, yes, well update them to use custom graphics. But its low priority compared to other stuffs that we are already working on (new maps, enemies, icloud). Araczynski, I have a different theory about that. The number of frames of unit animation in DC2 is actually not less, and some is actually more, than in DC1. The difference is DC1 is more cartoon, while DC2 is more serious looking. So perhaps that causes the expectation of the number of animation frames to be much higher. Thanks everyone else for the support!
Game Impressions At first all the complaints here made me hesitate to buy... then I read them all and they sounded really minor, so I bought For some reason these small points are really upsetting some people a lot, which is odd to me. I’ve looked for the “problems”: * Menu backgrounds stretched on iPad?? I have no idea what that means. The menus and maps look perfect on my iPad 2. Maybe they have a different aspect on iPhone, but as long as the art looks good both ways, what’s the difference? And although I don’t have a retina iPad, I can zoom in on my iPad 2 (which you really won’t do in typical play) and see that the art is still sharp, which tells me it would look good zoomed out to a typical level on iPad 3. * Character movement jerky? They don’t have many poses (not many frames in the cycles for walking and dying) but their travel along the path is completely fluid, and so are the weapons in flight, and so is the scrolling/zooming. Those are all the motion I really care about. The way it is now seems fine for TD. I wouldn’t have even given a thought to the walk and death cycles if nobody had mentioned that. * No fast switching? Well, not instant switching... I went to Maps and back and DC2 had to reload. Which took maybe 1 second on my iPad 2, and I was back in my game where it left off. That’s pretty “fast” switching after all! It’s not like I’m constantly switching between the game and some other app. This is a non-issue for me since the game loads extremely quickly and your game-in-progress is not lost. * Too hard? Well, I hope so! DC1 is hard, and I like the challenge. There are other games if I want easy. (And grinding early levels is easy too.) * IAP pushed on you? I really don’t see where that’s the case. It’s optional and it feels that way. I have no objection. I won’t buy the IAP, and it sounds like the game’s own testers didn’t either. I just don’t see how those quibbles can take away the fun of a great and unique TD. Ditto for my own quibble: the music is too loud, drowning out other sounds/voices too much. (Maybe have a 0%-50%-100% toggle for the music?) Other impressions from a DC2 beginner: everything looks much better than DC1, which I already thought looked good. I like the occasional parallax details, and the way the paths have some visible depth instead of being seen edge-on. I’m happy to be back in Athelia again!
I did the exact same thing, then I realized the item required a reputation I didnt have. This is certainly what happened to you as well. Yes the item dialog box covers the equipment slot, but its not hard to get it in there at all, you just though it was because of the rep issue. A dialog box should really pop up to warn you if the item is not equippable.
You have a very interesting definition of 'perfect'. Maybe the stretched graphics don't bother you, that's fine. But I really cannot believe you cannot see tell that the art has been stretched vertically. If you can't, I feel sorry for the artist. The art really does look a lot better on an iPhone 4. Note this is just outside of levels, during levels it looks fine on iPad too. 'fast app switching' is a specific thing, if you are having to reload as if you have just opened the app then that's not 'fast app switching', no matter how little time it takes.
No, you can only do that IF you buy the ability to do it. This is a fun game, but this IAP is absurd. I feel like I'm walking through a street market in Calcutta. It's wrong, and bad for your brand. You do care about your brand, right? Seriously, it's just flat out greed, and it's painfully obvious. If the game were free, then okay. But it's not. I've been looking forward to DCII for YEARS, and honestly...I'm pretty disappointed, mostly due to the extremely aggressive begging for money.
Normally I don't post on the forums here (just made an account to make this post actually) but I wanted to comment on this game. I picked this game up last night and I've played it a good bit today and I'm really enjoying it. I'm a little confused by all the negative comments people are posting. At the beginning of this week I played through the lite version of DC1 to get a feel for the playing style and this is definitely a big improvement over that for me at least from what I experienced with the lite version which I guess for a game with so much deep gameplay and grinding isn't a whole lot. It seems like some people just had a totally unrealistic expectation for what DC2 was going to be. It's not going to be some life changing game, it's a sequel to a really fun and successful tower defense game. I think people are way too caught up in little details right now (this might be because the devs are listening so people want to bring up issues but mentioning some positives to the game doesn't hurt either). Yes there are things that could use some reworking but relax and actually enjoy the game. I'm having a blast playing it. Who cares about the animations for the archers arrows? If you're looking for really fancy graphics tower defense games aren't the best place to look. I also don't understand the complaints about the fast app switching, it's not like booting this game up has a bunch of ads or something it literally takes a minute tops to get back to your game if you swap out of it. Like I said some issues definitely could use some fixing and I'm not denying that but just enjoy the game for what it is for now because it's a lot of fun. Also I want to congratulate the developers on making such a fun game. I'm really enjoying it and it's already become one of my favorite tower defense games that I've played. It's really awesome that you guys managed to make a game like this while having other jobs and with such a small group of people. I'd also like to thank you for putting in all the time and money to do so, it's greatly appreciated. I can't wait for the updates to see what else you guys bring to the table. I'm yet to feel pressured at all to use any sort of IAP. Maybe that's because I just tried out playing spice bandits? That game pushes you constantly to buy things but DC2 (as the developers have said) the IAP seem to exist just to help people who don't want to drop the time into the game which is fine by me.
I'm surprised to see so many complaints up in here. The game runs beautifully on my 4S and the graphics and art are wonderful. I've already felt challenged even on the easiest difficulties on some maps. I wasn't super hardcore invested in DC1, but this one seems like I will spend a lot of time with it. The IAP are all optional and for fun, but the game feels like the same pace with earning as the first otherwise. Great job here guys! Looking forward to where you take the game with the future updates. Cheers!
If you're new to the forums, that's why you're confused. There are people who will complain about IAP at every chance they get. You just have to tune it out.
*Drools* Is the importance of SOW decreased if I bought IAP hero equipments? I mean, the IAP equipments are among the best available for the character right? I'm a loot-o-holic so I would love shiny SOW any day . ------------------------ I kinda hit another roadblock at Stonebreak. None of my units seem to deal damage to the crystal golems. The archer killing thieves swarm in and slaughter all my archers, and their numbers are also a bit too great for mages or soldiers to effectively kill them. Any tips or strategies I should follow here? Plus, do I have to kill a monster first to see its stats in the Academy?
