I agree with DaviddesJ. The game isn't unbalanced it just gets progressively harder. That's the case for any game. From the game: Novice - "will introduce you to the game mechanics." Casual - "Will test your strategy." Master - "Enemies will appear stronger. Additional waves and boss opponent may appear." Heroic - "For experienced players, who want to battle the enemies at full strength, as described in the academy." I haven't unlocked Legendary yet. Given that others and I have beaten or at least reached heroic+ difficulties means that it's doable. All you need to do is familiarize yourself with more than just your "comfort zone" strategy. It's a strategy game that's supposed to make you think and come out of your comfort zone. There's a ton of strategies to employ in this game. Anyways, most of the enemies in the bestiary either give you an idea as how to beat an enemy or flat out tell you. For instance, the bestiary pretty much tells you all of the Lich's weaknesses and strengths. The funny thing is that hardcore players will have probably fully beaten this game on Legendary by the end of the week. and, imagine all the people who will be beating Ultimate+. All you have to do is come up with a solid strategy.
We have several forum members having beaten Legendary with at least Lovell, Melwen and General by now. We have one only needing to beat Stonebreak with Elwyn, and he will have conquered Legendary as well.
Man, now I feel far behind. I just got back to iOS gaming recently, and I'm pretty much only focusing on strategy games. And, I still have a couple older ones I'm working on plus Plague Inc just came out. Hopefully, I can beat Legendary by the end of next week.
I was just quoting the DC2 Forum sticky. I haven't played with him yet, but his description in the manual talks about his abilities. For instance, he can teleport on the map. I think I read on the DC forum that if you level him correctly, you can teleport him quite a bit. Don't quote me on that though. I only skimmed through their forum. Or maybe it's his buffing ability. From the manual's description, it shows that he can makes the units quite a bit stronger. I really don't remember what I read, but it was something to that extent. Just real his bio abilities in the manual. Edit: Man, I had a brain fart when I wrote this post. Totally was thinking of a comment I wrote to someone else. It's supposedly a RAM problem - the game is memory intensive. Just close out most everything else and it should be fine. Well, at least it has been for me.
I've beaten half of the levels on Legendary with Melwen and it has taken lots of trial and error (and getting my butt handed to me) to get this far. A single strategy does not work for all maps no matter how powerful you think you are, nor generally will a single strategy work for the same map at different levels. The game is definitely very challenging at the higher levels, but not impossible; it certainly isn't a game in which you will be able to beat every level on the first try. There were a few levels on Heroic (Razortooth and Stonebreak come to mind) that took me dozens and dozens of attempts (with different equipment and strategy) to finally get right. I tried Stonebreak on Legendary with my Heroic strategy and got steamrolled, so its back to the drawing board (which is what makes the game fun). I find it somewhat surprising that there are people who seem to want all of the answers handed to them on a platter. Where is the fun in that? If I wanted a game with zero depth, I'd be playing Angry Birds. But maybe I'm just old school, after all, I thought it was fun to spend countless hours of my childhood trying to get the damn Babel Fish.
Lol! I think we were implying it. But yeah, it's a (solid) strategy that's somewhat circumstantial. The worst is when you end up letting just a couple/few enemies get past you, especially if you have a bit of OCD like me.
It not a race. Take your time and enjoy the journey. The artist crew at Menara have all done such an amazing job - hand drawing each and every little thing/artifact/map/speck in the game - that it would be such a shame not to do so - Besides, if you're able to fly through Legendary, you're going to give Gimka gray hairs
As in, if you have enough free ram, the game doesn't quit out when you sleep the device? I'm not sure that sounds right. I'm on an iPad 3. Without opening any other apps after a reboot, DC still won't stay open through a sleep.
In 'many' games, a harder - or higher - difficulty level is basically just offering exactly the same screen content, - just in the sense that the mobs' toughness/armor has been ramped up a notch. But that is not quite the the case with Defender Chronicles II (or Defender Chronicles I, for that matter) - In DC2 a higher top tier difficulty level requires a total change in strategy, guild setup, hero setup, otherwise they will surely fail. I'm glad to hear you enjoy the game and the experience
Yeah, I know. But, I'll end up procrastinating if I don't do it in a hurry then I'll have completionist envy. This is literally the story of my life when it comes to iOS/strategy games. I'll admit this is probably the most addicting strategy game I've played on iOS. It beat out Hunters 2 in that category. And, it looks to be beating out Ravenmark and CoC: The Wasted Land in terms of overall enjoyment and satisfaction. That's a huge achievement in my book. And, I can't really compare it to KoDP. Plus, I want to get as much done possible before the new update. Ah, that's just what I read. But, yeah, that's mostly what I meant. When I have quite a few apps open it goes back to the splash screen, but if I only have one or two open it works fine. I guess it may just be an optimization problem, since you're on the iPad 3. IDK! I don't know too much about the iPad 3.
I recently got to (but am far from beating) Legendary with Lovell. She's awesome! Reasons: 1) Bow Commander upgrades are twice as effective damage-wise (+2% per level), and only cost one skill point. So crazy strong archers/rangers/etc. 2) Get the Expert Logistics medal and you can place her anywhere on the map, once you figure out where she'll be most effective. 3) Give her an arbalast, and she'll basically shoot a long-range laser. This can hit a ton of units at once (potentially way more than Melwen). Of course, you're not doing enough damage to kill heavily armored dudes, but you're burning/poisoning them. 4) Mage Commander is 2 skill points per level. Okay, no big surprise there, but you can easily afford to get your mages upgraded too, and you'll need them. I haven't yet decided if I like her Rally ability. You get a slight upgrade to your units for a short while (damage + move speed? not sure here). It's helped me beat a map once or twice. Edit: Nobility is pretty cool, too (start w/extra gold, makes your Champion unit ridiculously cheap). One thing that sucks is her Archery skill. 2 skill points to get +1 damage. ::shudder::
So...I'm working on 5 starring every level at the moment. I probably have enough rep 4 gear to get to rep 5. Should I buy the black market, Dwarves or neither? I'm mainly playing Melwen...what does the black market offer?
So i`m playing melwen and i got to lvl 19, and i put 50 points in sorcery, and somehow i can`t put more! is this the maxim points you can allocate to it, or you can allocate more later on? thanks EDIT: Also, what is the maximum level you can reach? i didn`t achieve it in the first DC, but i`ll surely do it in this one PS: i read in this thread`s posts sth about a DC manual? where can i read it?
