Yeah, I'm probably not as far as you, so I'm glad to know that I can play a more passive game. I'm thinking of other TDs, and I know I never do stuff like call in that artillery strike/etc.

I'm a bit confused. In my bestiary, it shows the rock minion and rock giant. Though, the rock giant's weakness is not shown. The crystal minion and the crystal giant's info is still unlocked, though I've successfully killed them in battle.

So, I'm assuming that there are two different forms - rock and crystal. Like I said, it only took a small bit of inference/logic to figure it out.

First off, I'm assuming that a decent amount of players equipped a wand to boost their stats/abilities before they even encountered the crystal golems. From my play time, I have a ton of fire wands that have been looted, even before I first saw any golem. You also learn that your lizardmen can use burning at level 3, wizards shoot fireballs, etc. A little "discovery" doesn't seem like a bad thing to me.

Is it a hundred percent certain that none of the attacks damage the crystal golem? I haven;t payed too close attention, but I notice units will attack, but the health doesn't really go down. Maybe it's that they just do a miniscule amount of damage. Again, I don't know.

I never thought it broke the flow of the game. I always play strategy games (whether it be TD or not) and even RPGs with a certain level of resource management + trial & error/ figuring out the best method.

All in all, I think it's a quite trivial argument in the grand scheme of things, but that's just my opinion.

Like I said previously, I think the only problem was not giving a hint about having to 5 star certain levels. Again, personally, I just attribute this to discovery (or in this case challenge discovery), which is nothing new in games.

I just don't think there's a set rule on what to add, what not to add, or how to unlock something. .

I generally agree with what Goofy is saying, but, to be clear, if your unit deals less damage than an enemy's armor on each attack, that damage will be reduced to 0. That's why fast, weak attackers like archers are useless on heavily armored units like the crystal golem. I read that "burning" temporarily reduces armor, but crystal golems doesn't seem to be affected--they never get the "burning" icon.

Maybe armor is a confusing concept? It's quite common in these types of games.

Not to keep throwing gas on this fire, but I agree with this.

If there's going to be a you-can't-damage-it-the-way-you've-been-taught-so-far enemy in a map, though, then the Academy info really has to be shown for that.

To me, the ideal way to do it would be: if you encounter a unit 5+ times (or lose a map that contains that unit 5+ times), then the Academy info for that unit unlocks.

At least that way, while not holding you hand, you still get the assistance you need to figure out what otherwise is a pretty left-field situation.

I just wasn't sure when I made the comment, especially since I haven't unlocked the the Crystal Golem's info yet. Honestly, I was just think of health at the time. Also, I guess I haven't played enough to notice that burning doesn't affect them. So, it looks like only a high damage fire attack will work since there doesn't seem to be any type of armor break/debuff that works on them.

I really need to start 5 starring levels. I've been doing menial grinding so that I can get used to everything. Plus, I just bought Plague Inc.

Strategy is not just about reading a book or a guide or having a guideline to point out what to do and what not. Startegy also requires observation and insight. The mannual of the game will only give you some general pointers and examples of how to play the game and defeat some enemies but not all. The academy is in more detail but it doesn't give away some of the enemies because just like you said, this is a RPG strategy game, not a checklist. That's also why they have different levels from novice to demigod for you not to just grinding but also enough time to OBSERVE your enemies and FIND OUT their WEAKNESS. It isn't guess and check but it's more like "tried and true".
As for the inconsistences you noticed in levels, that's what makes this game even more interesting to me because once you figure it out, it's actually easy. The combination of many factors that bring victory to the game makes the victory even sweeter. The levels are hard because the enemies are stronger but also take note that it's not an open route tower defense so once you figure out the best way to ensure victory and your army is at an approriate level, you can pretty much put your phone/Ipad away to do something else( that's what I experienced with extended game ;) )

I'm unable to beat Razortooth with the General. I've tried everything from wizards to lizards, the slimes get me every time.

I don't see any items available that would help the General. Really frustrated and I would agree with others, this is bad game design, no help is given anywhere. I've tried this level 14 times now.

In the 1980s, I played a few hundred games of Rogue before winning. I didn't even have a list of the possible items you could find.

Okay, the basics of tower defense...

Strong enemy with tons of armor that you can't even dent => use a slow unit that does tons of damage, so it can overcome the armor (i.e., Wizard)

Lots of weak enemies (e.g., slimoids) => use a fast unit that does less damage, so it can hit as many enemies as possible.

So use lots of archers, or better yet, upgrade archers to rangers, who can hit more enemies at once. Having a high Bow Commander skill is a big help.

    How to kill slimes:
    - you want to pop the big ones as early as possible - because there are only a few of them, any unit will do for this. Put your popper guilds as near to where the slimes enter the level as possible.
    - for the medium sized slimes, if your rangers can't one-shot them, use lizardmen again.
    - for the tiny slimes, rangers are best because of the sheer number of them.

Like MisterDrgn says, a high Bow Commander skill is helpful.

What are all these abilities? Where to find?

    Hey DC2 players,

I'm enjoying this game a lot. Finally had to hit the Forum b/c of Crystal Golem (already saw answer to that) and I'd also really like to know what's the point of all the IAP abilities that come in the Imperial Store? There's so many -- zombie, maneuver, bravery, trap, ethereal, build peasant houses, vampiric, industrious, etc. plus there are the enhanced embassies.
Frankly, I'd really like to see a list of what these things do (but not a 'spoiler' as much as a generic definition) along with what all the abilities you can gain just by playing...?
I can't see buying these things while I'm learning all the game stuff. Seems like it might spoil the fun...?
I also just found the 'get free tokens' button in Imperial Store -- click it, it offers you a video to watch, say "no", and then there's a game to play. Or maybe you have to say "yes" and then "no"? Just did first time & got 30 tokens (lowest payout?).

This IAP & 'watch this ad for virtual currency' trend in games is a bit disturbing. I paid for this game!! I don't want to keep paying or do anything else, so GIMKA & others -- please stop nickle & diming me! (Or if the app is paid for and offers IAP, offer a way to 'hide' the IAP in a settings menu so I can just do my thang. Thanks!)

You wouldn't think people would pay $100 or more for a small game like this, but you might be surprised at how rich kids waste their $$$.

Gonna write this up in my blog also. You can post answers/comments there or ...?

    PEACE

I really want to like the priest hero, but he seems so weak compared to the mage and archer:/

I will put a word reference in the updated Game Manual, hopefully without giving away too many spoilers ;)

Learning Elwyn's skills, earning his medals and untilizing his troops to the fullest, is very much key to playing this ex-king. Stats-wise he is the one with the biggest potential. Those who want to get far, wouldn't be bad off playing Elwyn. I guess that was a bit of a spoiler... :p

I have re-written the Beastiary in the Game Manual, to better reflect which faction, and in which order rank allies are in - compared to each other. Hopefully it will be a little bit clearer, and yet not give away too many spoilers.

The new Manual, which also include the new word reference, should be up a little later today.

Plast2: The real problem I had was not that the information was not there, but that it looked like it was/should be. If all units are findable, and there is a "UNLOCKED AFTER X" type message by the "weakness" that is fine. But I cleared all levels at casual and am working on 5 starring master. I thought everything would be there and wasted time looking.

Does that make sense? I think your vision of the player discovering the weakenesses on the first play through is fine, but right now the bestiary is not clearly sending that message, which is why I found it frustrating.

Anyone have any tips for "sandsea" level on "master" difficulty and higher? It's the map with 2 mountains, enemies enter at the same time from both sides and each have an exit, and no tower can reach the other mountain. I found it weird that this is only like the 4th map, but clearly the most difficult map of all. I can't even survive past wave 15 or so, because it's like playing 2 maps at the same time, and there simply isn't enough money to build towers on both sides. Most of the enemies are armor units, so I try to build the knight guild, but it never works because the knight guild only stops one enemy at a time and each enemy takes 3-5 hits to kill. Mages guild doesn't work either because they have no stopping power. Archer guilds are completely useless because they do pretty much 0 damage to armor units, and while lizardman guild does some damage to armor units, they're too expensive in the damage ratio. The hero melwen can't kill enemies before they exit because her attack speed is way too slow.
