I have a feeling there might be one coming, at some point

But you shouldn't limit yourself to just one hero. You have four, why not quadruple the fun :p

Well, it doesn't seem "fun" to me, it seems extremely unfriendly to your users. Especially when you've got lots of bugs, and so you're saying to people, if you want to wait until the bugs are fixed, you are going to lose opportunities in the game. Not cool.

    Few gameplay questions:
    - How come certain "boss" monsters keep regenerating health at an absurd rate? Every few hits they receive or deal they'll regain like half their HP bar, and I've counted the regeneration happen at least 30+ times, making it nearly impossible to kill them. Some kind of "steal x% hp from attack" effect?
    - How come the halfling guild often just stand there and not attack, even when ground units walk past? Does the halfling guild earn more gold per kill or something?
    - I found the archer hero earns much less exp than melwen in the same map same difficulty, is this intended?
    - How do I unlock the "abilities" of each hero? It says to perform a task certain number of times, but most of them I have no idea what it's talking about. For example for melwen it mentioned something like "use order 5 times", I don't even have that magic

    DaviddesJ,

Just like you said, it’s not a big deal. They are not game breaking items. They are just collectibles that won’t be much useful, except for a joke, on higher difficulties.

The early adopters placed faith on us by purchasing the game earlier, even with the current flaws. Don’t you think it’s normal for us to give something back to them as a token of our appreciation? They fund and help us to further develop the game.

    November’s Chopin,

    - Do you mean the Lich? Lich will gain health by absorbing the hp of the unit that she attacks. So you must use stronger infantry/ wizard that can damage her more than what she can absorb. Or you can position multiple units so they can all attack her at the same time.

    - Halflings are cowardice. They only attack low ranking enemies (R1). Halflings gain an extra Gold for every enemy that they kill.

    - No, archer hero should gain same exp as Melwen, assuming that you kill the same number of enemies and you get the same number of stars. General can get more EXP from the Cunning skill. Also make sure you don’t use any item that can give bonus EXP to the hero that is using it.

    - For Melwen to learn Order magic, she has to cast spells from Order school. You can find the item to do this in Elf Hut 5th tab.

You can check every unit and enemy abilities from Academy. And there is also main menu – extras – game manual.

    Hope that help!

Well, I paid $2.99 for it, even though I'm waiting to play it, and you're giving me bupkis....

DaviddesJ: I don't understand why you seem to be irritated by this? The devs included this "limited time loot" as a kind of "thank you" for early buyers, and those that stick with and continue to support the game.

The game has it's share of flaws and bugs (what game doesn't), but the devs are constantly reading our post, and they seem like they are trying to fix these problems.

The loot is by no means the best in the game.

If you think our fun addition is unfriendly... well, I'm sorry. Usually people tend to like fresh new content, collectibles and things that makes them smile a bit in-game. But Bug-fixes are off course always the main priority. Major content added, like maps, enemies and so on, have been in the works for a long time. - Artist work had to be done, music composed, and so on, so the focus after release is off course to make sure bug-fixes and so on are handled as a priority.

Dude, the game is plenty fun right now. If you want to get your money's worth, then play it.

Also: I highly doubt that your missing this one minor item will in any way affect your enjoyment of the game.

Is the next update going to increase the resale value of loot won from battle? I remember hearing something about that earlier. I'm wondering whether I should bother holding on to stuff.

I'm sure it won't. It still bugs me. But I can see it's not a big deal.

Hi. This is indeed a fact, but it does nothing to reply to my issue. How am I supposed to know that the Crystal Minions and Crystal Golems (which do not show up in the Academy after completing the map) can be killed? Why does the game give me no indication whether it is related to Defense, Attack, Weakness, Power, or any of the countless other things that seem to matter in this game?

Do you think it is good game design if I have to go to the internet to figure out how to get past an early level?

That is correct. The selling price of Spoil of War items will be 20% of its actual value (now it's 6%).

Sure, I think that's fine. I think it's reasonable these days to expect that people will use the internet to find out more details of how games work, than can be presented on the screen.

If that's the case, why is there so much instruction in this game? Tips, tutorials, extended tooltip information about every skill, spell, item, class, and mechanic. But this one aspect (how to kill a mob you encounter a few levels in) is completely absent.

There's even a "manual". It tells me the minimum and maximum item modifiers that I can get if my reputation is "renowned". THANKS. HOW ABOUT HOW TO KILL THE GREEN STATUE THINGS KTHX.

You asked if it's ok to have things in the game that you have to figure out for yourself or look up online, I said sure. It's also ok to have help in the game that explains things. Either and both are ok.

well that was actually discussed in dc topics, but it would be really cool to have the ability to craft stuff, even if it would costs much more. because at some point the main aims are to get good gear and you spend more time refreshing shops than actually playing.

No, I didn't ask if it's okay to have "things in the game" that require an internet forum. I asked if it is good game design to have a very early enemy be completely impervious to damage with no in-game explanation. I actually included a whole bunch of context to make sure that some rube wouldn't think I was commenting on "things in the game" in general, rather than "a thing in this game" in particular. Apparently it didn't work.

When there is a monster in the 3rd or 4th level, on "Really Incredibly Easy" mode, that the player cannot damage at all, and cannot find any information about in the game or its instruction manual, that is probably not good game design.

As I tried to make clear in my last post, this omission is highlighted by the fact that the game nearly overwhelms you with obscure information about itself through tips, tooltips, and tutorials.

The manual is detailed enough to tell me that if I have a Reputation of 2.2, there is a 31.25% chance that an item will be Common Grade and Superior Quality. But it wants me to check an online forum if I want to know how to kill a big green miniboss thing that, as far as I could tell at first, is completely impervious to damage.

@EVERYONE who got pissed at the Crystal golems (inc. me) - use something that can cast Fireball. Equip Melwin with a fire wand or upgrade mages to wizards (just pass the level and come back later).

If you hate them now, you'll be utterly frustrated when you repeat the map on higher difficulties. The rogues and its variants will annoy you, greatly.

@fivejane: If you look in your in-game Game Manual, you'll find the complete DC2 Bestiary, including which rank they have. A Crystal Golem is a part of the Orc Hordes and they have a Rank of 4, so combat it head on and you'll need something from the Empires of simlar rank - Like a Wizard or Knight. If you look under army ranks, you'll see that these are elite units. But you don't need to face it head on, you have help. - Lots of it. This is where the tactical part of the game comes into play. Where to place which units, so I can beat it to kingdom come with... say, Melwen :)

    Spoiler:
Try holding the golem in place with a warrior you've upgraded to a cavalier, then equib Melwen with a good fire wand. If you've placed some points in Sorcery, a few shots should be all it takes.

And the reason why you need Wifi to read the manual, is because we actively work on it. Changes you can see from moment to moment. If it had all been a document built into the game, you would always have wait until next update to receive any updated information. - We prefer to be ready to include information and answers to questions you guys place in boards like this one right away.
