iPad default rating of 1 star in the app store

Discussion in 'iPhone and iPad Games' started by applesauce25r624, Mar 2, 2009.

  1. why is the default rating set at "1" in the app store ?

it shouldn't even have a default setting !

you should have to select 1-5 manually !

i have seen 1 star ratings with the reviewer giving a stellar review (likely to be 4 or 5 stars) !

this is something that apple can EASILY fix in itunes !

Shouldn't this go in the Lounge? It's not a game or app related question.

yeah it really pisses me off when i see people write good reviews, and then give it 1 star because they don't set the rating themselves

Developers have been complaining about this for a while, but no love from Apple yet.

This probably explains why so many 1-star ratings have positive reviews. I've seen plenty of those where people say the app is great, and yet it only has 1 star. Completely messed up...

Yes, people have complained about this before. And why is this in the games section?

Yes, I have been wondering about that for a few weeks now and couldn't understand it until now. That is really stupid.

At first I thought it was just people being confused by the rating system because in some cultures, 1 star is considered a top rating. But, alas, it's another Apple flaw :(

on topic, i agree, if you forget to set it manually it should go to a page that says, "You forgot to give the game a rating" or something like that. Same kinda thing if you forget to fill in a certain box on a form for signing up.

  16. i would think that apple would want accurate ratings

better ratings = more sales = more money for apple
