Loving the game! Well done! I apologize if this has been asked before (I searched to the best of my ability): I just purchased the "Crafty Tug" ship with the perk "Seagulls are your friends". But so far I don't see a buff! Where/what is it? Do I have to go even deeper or am I missing something glaringly obvious?
I am fairly certain that currently the Crafty Tug has no perk. I believe that it is "a feature that wasn't completed in time for release." The dev sort of mentioned it when I mentioned a hidden achievement that had to do with seagulls. You can read the post here http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=3308405&postcount=349 and infer your own opinion.
Yeah, I did find that post... Man, so I basically just wasted 25k, that simply sucks. I haven't even bought the doubler yet so that was quite a lot of runs for me Any chance this might be fixed in a mini update to at least get the money back if the feature isn't ready to be implemented? I can't imagine I'm the only one who upgraded this because it sounded awesome.
Can anyone give a hint as to what depth / area a mine can be located? I have a quest to explode 5 in one dive, I've never seen one and it is driving me insane.
Yeah it sucks, but I can tell you from experience that in the long run 25k isn't that much, even without the doubler. My advice, focus on beginning every dive with 9 Emergency Airs and as many of the attack and defense power-up 3 packs as you can buy. Then use a Turbo Boost to begin your dive. You'll be at around 290m. Just focus on drilling every sparkly diamond tile you see below 300m. In my opinion these diamond blocks are worth more than most chests, even locked ones, because every small diamond is worth 75 and every large diamond is worth 100 and every diamond tile below 300m contains 3-5 diamonds. That's 225-500 per tile. So you'll make that 25k back in about 70 tiles. Always have a defense power-up active at all times (they only deplete when you are hit) and use an attack power up to take care of droids, mutators, and sharks. When your air gets low use your Emergency Air, and if you are low on air and run out of Emergency Air but you are near 2-3 diamond tiles I would recommend buying the Emergency Air supply torpedo from the pause menu (it is 5x the cost of 1 Emergency Air at the Dive Supplies store, but you should make more than that from the 2-3 tiles). When you have 50k I recommend buying the ULTRABOT suit as it is hands down the best suit you can buy right now. Then focus on upgrading your equipment. In my opinion the most important is Air, then Drill, then Gun. With that advice you should be making money rather quickly, even without the coin doubler. Other tips: If you haven't finished all of your loot collections I suggest using the Good Fortune ship as it greatly increases the number of locked chests you'll encounter. After finishing all collections, or at least all collections that have chest loot* I personally just ignore chests and seek out diamond tiles. *The following collections and items are NOT found in chests: Spoiler Messages in Bottles collection Ark of the Covenant Sarcophagus Prehistoric Fossils collection Pliosaur Skeleton collection Terracotta Soldiers collection Large Black Obelisk Matrix Strange Egg Once you reach end game (All loot, upgrades, locations, and unlocks) the best strategy in my opinion is to use a Turbo Boost to begin your dive then swim down as quickly and easily as possible (as little drilling or fighting as possible) and make your way to the ocean floor at around 515m. Drill down until you reach the diamond tiles at around 545m and try to focus on digging through the diamond tiles as strategically as possible, focusing on large clusters over scattered ones. I tend to only catch what falls on my diver and let anything that falls out of his reach just sit on the ground. I feel that it is more efficient to use your air supply to drill new tiles then it is to tap every runaway diamond. I always use 9 Emergency Airs and the Emergency Air Torpedo every dive. Using this strategy I average around 135k per dive (270k with my doubler). Good luck! I hope you aren't still too upset about getting burned on the Crafty Tug. I mean you'll need it for the buy all ships achievement anyway.
Thanks! I love when devs respond quickly and are active in the forums. This game is awesome. Perfectly implemented IAP. I've gotten the coin doubler and one pack of coins. Totally worth it and glad to support this game. Other devs and publishers should look here for a free to play model that respects the player. No internet connection required. Lots of personality. Engaging gameplay. It's a win all the way around.
25k isnt that much of a grind. Even without a doubler. Asking for a "compensation" fix for a game you clearly enjoy in a game you didnt pay anything for is a little bit too much, isnt it?
Hi Veronika, Yeah, unfortunately the Crafty Tug perk currently has no real use other than giving you some adorable seagulls perched on the boat. We should have made it clearer there was no real perk for this ship. I've had a chat to the Code Monster though and hopefully we'll figure something out so that those who have unlocked this ship will have a suitable perk in the future although it might not be until our first content update in a month or two. Interestingly it's kinda crazy anything has perks at all really. It was only a handful of months before completion we decided to give all ships and suits extra properties. Originally all suits and ships were purely cosmetic!? Anyway, I hope this alleviates some of your concern and as others have mentioned you'll find 25,000 is hardly anything at all once you really get going
Thanks to everyone who's still posting here. There's been some great posts and some amazing strategy guides. Also brilliant to see user helping each other with discoveries. Top stuff! As for that Steve Jobs advert...it made us chuckle a fair bit! Good job
Bug Update : 2014/08/06 Thought you guys might like to know where we are with our bug fix update. Things we've sorted so far... Mute Bug - Issue with system mute being ignored has now been fixed Destroy X mines missions - Fixed bug that wasn't counting mines destroyed Business is Booming Achievement - Non-counting bug being squashed also fixes this Location Missions - Bug stopping rediscovered locations counting towards missions has been fixed Location Stat - Rediscovered locations now count toward location stat Tomorrow / Thursdays bug squashing plans... Drill Upgrade bug - Possibly something to do with achievement interfering which makes it a tough bug to nail Invisible Egg glitch - Think we know why this is and shouldn't be too tricky to sort Air depletion bug - We can now reproduce this bug so hopefully can work out how to stop it happening from this Have a Blast Mission - Only messes up if you move immediately after shooting the first mine. Fixing is bit tricky so currently low priority compared to other issues and might still get shifted down the list Copy correction - Non-coder task...so Dave can whizz through list of spelling mistakes & things <Yay> Other bugs We know there are plenty more issues*, particularly lock-up bugs. These lock-up bugs are really tough to reproduce consistently so it will take some time to lock these down and eradicate them. We're currently in two minds whether to get out an initial bug fix update to cover the above issues and fix some game blocking stuff or to continue with the lock-up bug fixes and update when some / all of these have been found. However this could take a week or two(!) Either way it will take up to 5 working days (if we're lucky) for Apple to approve an update once we submit it. It's a tough call either way... What do you guys think? *We'll aim to fix most of these in a larger future update (possibly combine it with first content update) but are either non-game breaking or could potentially screw up things like the save-game file so we need to be really careful and take out time with some issues...
As a (non-game) developer -- fix anything that could cause coin loss, then mission blocking bugs, then ship it and work on the other stuff. Fixing the lockup bugs would optimally be at the top of that list, of course, but as you note they can be really hard to track down and stomp. Release early, release often. Or at least often. Particularly given the purgatory of Apple approval. If there's still the ability to rush an update -- DON'T. Save it in case you actually need to fix a real app breaking issue! I've seen devs in the past discover a game breaking problem, right after rushing a content update.
Thanks for the advice. Guess the other thing we have to consider is the odd way Apple user reviews work. Each update essentially resets your reviews (unless you deliberately look for reviews for previous versions) and as we have about 250+ right now mostly favourable it could be detrimental releasing an update too soon or updates too often...again another factor to our little dilemma. However we probably will just bite the bullet and get the first chunk of bugs fixed and out the door. Oh and alas we've already used our Apple 'get out of jail / expedited review' card this year (actually no one knows how many you can do in a year...possibly 2 or 3) as we discovered a horrible game breaking bug literally a day before release. The update thankfully managed to go through before too many people had the game on launch day so I think overall it was worth it and probably stopped the game disappearing into the app void!?
Exactly Psience. (See what I did there!) I've not bought the doubler yet and I've four starred my upgrades and down to my last few loots. I enjoy the game but I want to finish it without help and I'll buy some coins afterwards cause the devs deserve it. Anyone not playing this because it's free to play is missing out, this is a free game, NOT a freemium game.
Personally I would like a bug fix update as soon as possible as I am unable to complete any of my current missions. I am only about 4 dives away from buying the last 2 ships and then I will literally have nothing left to do except stockpile money or stop playing until the mission bugs are fixed, and I really don't want to stop playing
