To start with, I recommend to get blue lantern (B-2 boss normal)+ pumpkinmask (A-1 boss normal), the set bonus of the two gives you +236 shot and +225 laser, then start grinding in hard mode. Most of the rare items appears in hard mode, you can first grind in A-1, A-2 or C-1 to get at least one of the +50% drop rate items. Then you can start play the 6 stages to do the treasure hunting. An item named "Scarecrow C" is dropped in A-1, which grant your demon familiar the ability to absorb ALL KINDS of bullets (not in boss battle though), this is really a useful item for hard-mode starter when you are not familiar with the bullet hell after chapter 3. Meanwhile, you can also play C-1 and B-2 and hopefully you can get a unique item from the boss (the wind blade I'm using is dropped from B-2 boss). As for the unique scissor weapon, it's dropped from dream eater with a very low drop rate, so maybe you want to think about this later when you get good enough equipment to beat the hard mode.
To be honest, I am not sure about the drop rate issue either. Sometimes I got two items drops in one stage, sometimes nothing in the entire run. Since I can already easily beat the hard mode with the said equipment set, I'd rather keep that "50% increase" item and believe that it's actually working. But if not for the treasure hunting concern, I personally prefer Satan Doll which grant you 4X gold drop. The reason is that with this item you can easily collect enough gold to activate Powerup, which will further boost your attack significantly (around 1.5 times, I guess?). For example, I can literally instant-kill certain boss with a power-up, which will save you even more time. Meanwhile it's also perfect for score attacking and grinding for money.
Thanks for posting the links to those lists, guys. That will definitely help a lot for farming. I noticed in the Japanese list that it says you can only buy 5 continues. If you purchase all of the IAP ones, does the max go up to 14?
I see. Thank you. It's been few days. Still no luck. Keep getting those stupid rings. . . btw I sent email to CAVE asking about the DLC and this is their reply. 'In-game DLC items do not drop on any of the difficulties. Currently, the requirements for unlocking the "They're All Mine" achievement do require having all the DLC items, but this is a bug and will be addressed soon in an update' So no need to buy IAP.

Btw, anybody notice that the rate of getting better item from boss in hard mode is higher when we are dealing them in the death mode (where suicide bullet appear) ? so far it seems so to me. So the first 4 stages which doesnt have suicide bullet almost always drop those rings, while for the rest, i got unique and dolls more often.
I've noticed the same thing. I wonder if equipping the Demon Horns will do the same thing? I've also noticed that if you have 9 of something, that item won't drop anymore. Edit: hmm I need to try again. I think they only count to 9, but you can still pick up more of the same. I'll check.
If thats true, then i am very close to getting something useful! I have 8~9 of almost all those stupid rings! Will grind tonight! Edit: I think your wrong ._. I got a 10th Lock ring S ._.
Hi guys Just got DS yesterday and it is quite impressive! I have a small question, tho: When messing with the control settings, I noticed that if I switch the "auto-shot" off, I don't get the LASER/SHOT button to change my bullet type. Can someone explain me these controls options? Thanks in advance!
If "auto-shot" is set to off then you tap for shot and hold for laser. EDIT: Oh, I was beat to the punch. Hey next post is 1000.
Yeah I think it was just coincidence that I had 4 types of rings all at 9. Maybe it just only shows 9? Does your Dresser say 10?
BTW, this auto shot off IS GREAT!!! It's like I'm falling in love with the game all over again being able to manual bomb and tap to shoot/hold to laser... =oD Changing directions isn't as hard, and switching between shot and laser is SO MUCH EASIER!!! =oD
Lol.. I've mostly been playing with autoshot off if I'm going for score.. If I'm just lazy grinding, I set autoshot on (so my thumb will die from using shot since thats my highest stat). Yeah, changing direction and managing shots/laser is much easier with autoshot off to me. Less mistake of using wrong shot/laser in the wrong direction.. =P I haven't played as much after the update, but have they fixed the character getting stuck with autoshot off? I only played a few stages and didn't really notice it (don't know if its cause I got used to the character getting stuck or what)...
I played with Auto-Shot off for a while but then I found my character would just stop responding for me once in a while leading to me getting hit more than I normally would.
