I agree, this makes the most sense. 9*115 is pretty close to 12*85, so they're probably just pricing their apps in yen. OTOH, all of the American devs are going to leave their prices the same (in USD), since that's what they're using to price their apps. Note, obviously it's not a requirement that all Japanese devs do that, so we're not going to see everyone's prices change. As a side note, I'm not even sure why people are complaining so much. Chances are if you didn't take advantage of the introductory sale, you probably weren't going to buy it at the $9 price point either. So it won't hurt you too much to just wait for Cave's next sale. That means there are hidden achievements. I have no idea why devs do this, but Game Center allows it, so it happens a lot. It just means people need to blindly try things until they figure out what all of the achievements are, at which point a guide can be written and all future players are forced to find the guide before they can complete those achievements.
i really wish this had a flip screen, while playing the headphone jack from my headphones gets in the way. ( and having big hands doesn't help)
Don't get me wrong. I love CAVE games just as much as the next guy, but I believe that this ranks #3 for overpriced games. 1. Final Fantasy 3 $15.99 2. Chaos Rings $12.99 3. Deathsmiles $11.99 I will NOT even touch other "shmups" because of the enormous difference in quality between CAVE/non-CAVE shooters (retina support or not). With DodonPachi and Espgaluda being their better/less expensive games (subjective), it seems that Deathsmiles is riding the high horse. Just hope it gets kicked off soon and the price comes back down to Earth.
DDPR and ESPGaluda are both $12 too... =oP and with the XBOX versions selling on ebay for $100+ - $12 for any of them is a VERY good deal. Hell... I would probably pay upwards of $25-$30... maybe even more if they charged it... Cave games are totally worth it... Might just be me though... But with the EXTREME quality of their games... they're very grounded when it comes to iOS pricing...
I have to agree with others stating that the Cave games are actually well worth the increased regular price. Plus Cave is extremely consistent and fair in terms of pricing. Every single one of their games was released for $4.99 for a couple of days as a gesture of faith to their fans and followers before being bumped up to full price. They also aren't one of those companies that releases things for a "sale" price, only to bump it down to $0.99 a week later. As far as I know, Cave has only done one sale during their time on the app store (besides the initial release discounts for their games), and that was as a benefit for Japanese tsunami victims.
DRAT!! so i guess i can forget about a sale anytime soon then, i have 2 of the 3 i'd like to pick up the third.
The best bullet hell I've played on my iPhone is Danmaku, that game is seriously under rated. It's beautiful too!
Danmaku Unlimited is pretty good for sure. Though, IMO, it isn't really even in the same league as the Cave games.
when using the lock shot, do i have to hold the button down all the while i'm using it? or just hit it once to use & once again to stop?
Just curious..do you guys play with autoshot or manual-shot? I started playing with manual shot and while its pretty fun, having the character die cause the movement gets stuck kinda takes the fun out of the game a little. Finally switched back to autoshot to not get deaths due to character being stuck... The game feels more "interactive" (lol) when you have to manage the shots and directions manually, and feels a lot more fun to me. Hope Cave fixes this soon.
I have it set to manual right now but I agree, I run into tons of issues where my character just doesn't respond for some reason. Very annoying and I've lost a great run on Normal iPhone mode because I kept getting stuck.
Lol 11.99?? I bought it for $4.99 maybe a day or two after release? im surprised CAVE is being that greedy. even though its an amazing game. oh update, i got a UNIQUE. in Hades castle on normal. however, i was thoroughly dealt with by the train i was on stopping and therefore killing me on Dream Eater's first attack, therefore losing the unique.
I wouldn't be surprised if they have higher sales in Japan, in which case it'd probably be more important to them to keep the price up there than to keep the price down here.
So many iOS gamers are stingy when it comes to pricing. Quality games like Chaos Rings, FF3, and cave games deserve to be at those prices because of the quality put in them. Hell to be honest Dead Space should honestly be 12$+.
They said in their twitter it's because of pricing adjustment of Appstore. Lucky us we got it before that.
