Whoa! I was about to get this and then "BANG" high price out of nowhere... I'm just a casual player who wanted to "try" to learn how to play a "bullet hell"... I'm out of here...
Yeah..know how you feel... You can wait till the price drops.. or try out Danmaku Unlimited lite version.. The full version of Danmaku Unlimited is only 0.99 and its really fun (to me anyways). The scoring is way easier than than Cave's.
Then just "try" a lite version. Or get one of the other bullet hell shmups: Danmaku Unlimited is on sale now for .99, and rRootage has a full free version (with ads). Either way... even at the current pricing, it's still far cheaper (and better quality) than a game on the NDS or PSP.
I've tried the lite, but guess it's still kind of far compared to the true game. I own bug panic and the demo is nothing compared to the real thing... so, that's why I wanted this whole game; but guess I don't want it that bad if I'm not willing to pay extra... guess I'll wait untill the prices drop... that and I'm going to give a try to the other games both of you recomended. I must say, you have a good pint about how cheap these games are compared to a console game, I'm aware of how expensive it's to develop a decent game... however, I'm "used" to the pricing of the appstore games, so, I consider this is an expensive one... too expensive to buy it and forget about it later...
Yeah, Cave's lite version is not representative at all (to me) of the full game. I tried DDPR & ESPII lite versions and didn't feel it that much so didn't buy them before. But I keep hearing from others that the full game is much better. I think Cave's demo should give you one of the "middle" stages. Stage 1 (in the lite versions) seems to be over way too quick.
Nope, they're all 11.99 now (other than Mushi which went from $5 to 7). I'm guessing it has to do with the iTunes international price changes that happened today. In Japan, US app prices went down...so it appears that for the US, Japanese apps get more expensive. From some testing just now it makes it so the demon follows you when you switch sides. Like if you have it on and you're shooting right with the demon to the right of you then switch to the left, the demon will switch over to the left as well. If you have it off the demon will stay in place when you switch.
Demon follow turned off is useful for cancelling sucide bullets in Death-mode. It lets you control the position of your Demon manually.
I see. Demon refers to familiar. Good observant You can only control your demon position when you are using laser though. Hmmm, what's the death mode? How to obtain? Thank you for the info. Much help.
I believe Cave did this this is in response to the adjustments Apple made to the currency in Japan. It went from 115 to 85 yen per dollar. A quick calculation 115 * 9 = 1035 and 85 * 12 = 1020.
It's $12.99 on the Australian store. I thought those recent changes put the AUD on par with USD but I guess it must change above a certain amount.
cave probably had nothing to do with it. if apple adjusted the currency conversion the price would automatically go up.
I thought about that too, but Cave is the only Japanese developer that has made such a change. Capcom and SE games for example haven't budged.
Weird, I got it this morning before Apple did their price adjustments and it was only $11.99. I had a quick look after to see how much I would have saved and it had been adjusted to $9.49. I can't imagine why it would still cost more than the US version. Other more expensive games have dropped in price, for example Final Fantasy III (iPhone version) is now 16.99, down from 18.99. And again, curiously still more than the US version (but still cheaper than it used to be).
I chose poor examples as they are huge companies. Kairosoft is a better example. They have no American office, and their prices also remained unchanged. Also the indie devs in Japan (unless there are none) haven't had their prices auto-changed.
And to be clear (for anyone still confused), its only for arcade mode. Its fun playing the Death Mode..but I guess I need to try with the familiar follow option to be off.
For everyone who's confused about the price change, I'm pretty sure it went something like this: 1. Japan's 115 Yen (equivalent to our $0.99) becomes 85 Yen, and all apps get cheaper. 2. CAVE raises their prices in order to come closest to the original price the apps were going for in Japan. 3. This raises all the international prices as a result, but this was the intention of all the price changes in the first place. For example, CAVE used to be selling their shooters in the U.S. for $8.99, but due to the decrease in value of the U.S. dollar, they weren't getting as much Yen profit as they should've been getting. Now they are. 4. CAVE posts the new prices on their website, confirming their intentions.
To be frank, Death Mode is in iPhone mode as well. Try to play it on hard, and see what happens after the fifth level. ;P
