does anyone else have a hard time pressing the POWER UP MODE button? im having a hard time pressing that one, im not sure if its just me or is it a bug? i can activate lock on shot just fine but when i try to activate the POWER UP MODE, i need a few tries of pressing the button before i can activate it
I had the same problem and thought it was a Bug. But i realised that you don't have to tap it to activate power-up mode, you need to keep it pressed.
yeah, I think it's to avoid accidentally triggering it. you have to hold on the button for a second to activate.
That's a helpful tip. I play with auto shot turned off with control type B--one thing I'd like to see is a bit of space between the Fire Right button and the Lock Shot button. For some reason, they actually touch each other and I sometimes find myself trying to activate Laser and using Lock Shot or vice versa. Not sure if Cave would consider adjustable control position.
FYI if you hold it and activate lock shot you drain your gauge faster. I think it has to do something w/ the game programming itself. I've had trouble switching from thumb to thumb. I usually use my left thumb when i'm shoot towards right and switch when I start shooting left. Anyways, after I switch thumbs, sometimes the character will not move and i have to remove my thumb and then re-apply it to the screen. BTW, does beating arcade mode do anything in the shop?
Other than regular iOS multitasking/state saving I don't think it has a way to save progress. I think if you went back to it without running other stuff (which would clear it out of memory) it might resume where you left off. Definitely suggest that to them, other games have adjustable control layouts and it could fix a lot of control gripes. Edit: just mentioned it to them on Twitter, you should still do it too so they know there's demand for it.
Finally got a chance to spend some quality time with this game, and I believe it's actually the best iOS Cave shmup so far - and I own them all. Just amazing onscreen action, boss battles, diversity in gameplay (up/down/left/right), I love this game! Just wish they'd gives us an iPad version, cause it looks like crap at 2x (as do all Cave apps).
defense and guard? I still can't figure out the difference between Defense and Guard in the iPhone mode.
The "?" next to the stats should explain. Defense is protection vs enemy impact (I'm guessing running into enemies). Guard is protection vs bullets. One thing I can't figure out is when or how to get the items in the shop to change. I remember (at least for the umbrella) there was 2 different higher level weapons for maybe the first 2-3 days, but now its 2 different ones for the past few days.
it's excellent game, like all cave games, but items could be more accessible without too much grinding. i need a bit more laser or shot power for hard mode, but all loot at hard mode so far are dozens and dozens of useless rings.
Ha I know what you mean... Hard mode = I can kill about 30% of the enemies in a level... I've bought all the hard mode gear... And none if it seems good enough... =o/ Oh well...
Yeah...for me at this point, Arcade mode rank 3 is more fun than iphone hard mode. If Cave makes the drop rates slightly better, it could make it more fun again. I don't need all the uber items, but just good enough items to kill maybe 75% of the enemies instead of 25%. I seem to die from being swarmed by enemies that I can't kill. I think in the last 20 bosses I've beaten in iphone hardmode, I've just gotten the same rings you can buy in the store about 19 times... Feels like there's too much grinding. =/ The game is still fun, as long as I don't try iphone hard to many times. =D lol..
Some items actually raise the treasure drop rate. I got more treasures frequently when wearing it. So far I found 2 Item that does so, one is a dress (Queen's dress), and the other one is an accessory (Rabbit's foot). The only thing I can't seem to confirm is whether wearing two or more of those items actually have a stacking effect.
I would think so. Actually, I should say I would assume so. I have used an umbrella and an accessory that slow-down the power-up gauge by 2. This effect seems to be stackable, so I would think that items that decrease the drop rate would also be stackable.
I've found 1 ring that increases gold, so thats the one I'm using to "grind"... Found 1 item that gives you +500 item count (haven't tested though if after using power up mode if it starts at 500 item count again or at 0)..and found one ring that gives 50% chance revive after death... Yes, but the problem is, I also try other pair of items, which are used to raise drop rate of gold. One of them (Satan Doll) raises 4x, the other one is Rain Boot which raises 1x. If I wear both of them, the drop rate effect doesn't take place, but when I only wear Satan Ring, it certainly drop a lot more gold
Yeah, i just tried this w/ two +500 gauge items. It looks like they do not combine. gauge starts out at 500... I could've sworn the power-gauge drained more slowly when I used both of the items. Eh. But I agree w/ everyone else about the items. It takes way too much grinding to get these items. I've bought 4 continues and the 5th one is 4mil. That is a little unbalanced. I just usually play on normal mode to get items. I've played hard mode too many times, got a sweet item, died w/ no more continues left and lost the item.
Yes, to complete the collection, Normal mode should help, although I think each item only available in one mode, as I never got any identical item from more than 1 mode. Yes hard mode is indeed hard I used up all my 4 continues and never eventually got into the middle of the Hades Castle stage, and when I am lucky I managed to beat the boss at Extra.
but what about the item which gives all enemies additional bullets which can be canceled with the pet? has someone here got it, and if at which difficulty? i can beat the game on easy without using a single bomb using power mode at right spots, even with +500 item, and still scores are below 100 millions. paid items in the game which is all about highscores, nice.
