Everyone is wired differently, so maybe the game is not for you and that's ok. But your insight seems to focus only on combat and it is only part of the game. It's not an action game, by any means. If you are expecting that you might end up disappointed.
Best comment so far!## I see myself buying this game on every platform. I hope it's coming to the PS4 & Switch!?
I hate that... I respect your opinion of course, but please try to give this game a few hours before you give up on it. There is so much more to it than the combat as Dankrio has said. The character customization, the random events, the numerous combinations of character traits and perks, the quirky humor and NPCs, and so, so much more all come together to make a very replayable experience. I have put about 25 hours into it in just the past few weeks, so I am speaking from experience. I hope you can come to love this game as much as I do, because it really is something special. Best of luck! And hope you change your mind eventually
I have to disagree on that as scavenging/combat takes about 80% of the gameplay, if not more. So combat is a huge part of the game and I don't find it too compelling at this point. Fighting zombies just feels so tedious to me. I will however invest more time into it, hopefully I change my mind
I cringed at that first line in response to the post. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be the showing of a large ego. I read into things too much sometimes. Anyway I'm excited to try the game out finally.
If I had a large ego I'd probably have started off with i love bein strong *kisses my own muscles* And then wrote the rest of it.
Haha, saying Kepa has a large ego is like saying Donald Trump is modest and well-spoken. I mean really, does THIS look like the kind of guy to have a big ego??
So we just have to agree on disagreeing. And that's ok. If I have the chance, I don't even try fighting zombies. Instead I just try to gather supplies, unless I am really overpowered. I fight just the exact ammount I have to do in order best gather supplies. A seemingly easy spot might soon get out of hand and next you see yourself overwhelmed, specially if you take too long on a mission. That's part of the fun of the game. That's why I say that combat is not most of the game. Also, it is a bit clunky by design, but it get more "satisfying" if you have higher stats or great weapons, not your ordinary. You are not a super hero, but a guy trying to survive zombie apocalypse. But there's no way I don't think combat is satisfying under those circunstances. Try moving a wardrobe around and dropping a lot of zombies in the process. They can't touch you. Or single-handled kill a lot of zombies with a special weapon that cause massive damage. That is satisfying and very fun for me. lol But the point is managing the resources and responding acording with the scenario you see yourself at the moment. After all, you are trying to get into Canada. Combat is just a small part of that, since it is not an action game per se.
A stumbling block might be that you're intentionally not encouraged to kill all the zombies, the game is designed against it. No XP/loot rewards for doing so, and the stamina system discourages direct fighting unless you have mega-stats. The game's mostly about efficiently running through and evading the hordes until you can build up supplies to mow them down. I've been thinking about a spin-off with more traditional combat, but I wanted to do something different with this one.
Wow the character customization is really good! I can actually recreate characters accurately. I run around as Shinji doing nothing and the AI controlled Rei kills everything. It's just like the anime!
So, I was not wrong in thinking that it was the intention of the design. Really, I love the way it is, because it captures the "zombie apocalypse feel" just right, in my opinion. With the planned updates it is going to be a standout in the genre (not that it isn't already). Also, I would throw a lot more cash on this spin-off! Please, do that "Slaying Road to Canada".
Already bought, had on steam and worth every dollar! So i read back in thread, and no talk of 2 player simultaneous. Is that coming in s future update or here already? Also, apple tv version? Cheers and awesome game!
I think Paul was going to put that in the iOS version around the same time as he did the Apple TV version. I don't think this is official yet, though, was just something we talked about briefly RE: Should we allow 2 player on the tiny screens. Maybe ok on iPad?
So the custom characters "level up" in a way? Their stats grow as you keep using their specialties - even if the character dies in a run?
