    So, let me tell you the tale of Mia, the Beast. At least as best as I can remember, since it has happened some days ago.

    She was a berserker with high physical stats and only one hp, as usual. And, like a good berserker, her philosophy was to live fast and die young. Why play it safe when you can give those zombies hell and leave this plane on a high note? It is so much better than a dull existence

    So, the long winding road (25 days instead of the usual 15) started with Jane (I will call her this way because she is highly fond of her privacy. Who am I kidding? How could I forget her name? Maybe it is because Mia stole the whole show) alongside.

    The RNGod saw the potential of fun, so he decided very early on to grace the travellers with a rare prize found on the road, which was sold for a lot of food. So, on the first camp, Mia got herself Bardiche, which was going to be known as her signature weapon, in a case of horror (no pun intended) for zombies. On the first siege, Mia was awarded an extra hp (Thank RNGod!), which made things look even more bright. Some time later she has found two familiar face around the road, Thaina and Denis, and they went for the zombie killing spree. Of course, Mia has lead the show the whole time.

    On the jouney, the Ominous Lab was conquered and its secret uncovered. I won't spoil it, but some interesting things have hapenned with Jane, that finally was a worth second in-command and the group personal doctor. Things were almost too easy, so Mia got cocky and decided: "I am going to be the first Berserker to ever get into Canada. Better yet. I won't leave anyone behind, including random survivors".

    And she has sticked to the plan, saving mallcops, preventing friends and strangers for dying, all while showing her badass atitude to bandits. Once, she has threatened a group that has dared to try and steal them to burn the bridge if they don't let them pass. They have felt her power (the Bardiche was scary), became scared and let them throught. But it wasn't enough. Too little, too late, so she came back and burned the bridge anyway. That's for messing with The Beast, you morons!

    Mia was no saint and sometimes she robbed some traders and survivors. After all, everyone should pay tribute and respect for her awesomeness. The slaying kept on until she has found a very cranky fellow who shared some of his wisdom and she got one more hp. Now, she was sure that her goal would be accomplished almost effortless, since the mayhem was almost second nature to her.

    But, that's the Death Road to you, one should never forget. And the name is here for a reason. 2 days from Canada and another ABL event. As usual, Mia cleared the place with little to no trouble (she purposedly has chosen the more packed places to spice things up) and the travellers have loot everything possible. When they got into to the car and were prepared to go away, the shock. An unexpect explosion on the car took place when they ignited the vehicle. A second later, everyone was scattered around and Jane, the doctor, the friend, the forgotten, was lying dead on the floor. Mia look up on the sky and has screamed: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Was it the mourning for Jane? Of course, not. She was annoyed that she has missed the achievement. So, something has clicked inside her and she didn't care for the lesser mortals anymore.

    Then, on the last shop before Canada she has recruited another expendable moron and kept on to the boarder. On the next siege Thaina has died, she didn't care and did nothing to prevent that from happening. On the City of the Crushed Souls, she wasn't even touched as she Bardiched, Uzied and Chainsawed her way through the piles of zombies. I swear to you. I have never witnessed before a carnage of such proportions (she had over maximum strenght and fitness, which might explain that, added to a bad attitude and bloodlust). The random jerk didn't survived and we gone to road to Canadian board. This should have been a simple task for her and Denis, but unexplained, Denis got surrounded by zombies (I suspect he was in love with Jane and just has lost his will to live, so he decided to commit suiced, just before getting to Canada).

    In the end, Mia, the Beast (never forget her name) was the sole survivor and the firt Berserker to ever get to Canada. An epic tale of and epic individual.

    Update approved! I'll be posting a list of changes in about an hour.

    We held off on most of the new characters after all. We wanted to make them a little fancier, which requires more testing. Also the extra controls options didn't quite make it in, but we will do another small update before the massive one to add this.

    Thanks! The Wizard currently prefers crap he picks up to his magic. We made him a little better about this in the update we submitted. He's a special character, he's actually a trading camp trader who you can get as a recruit.

    A berserker with over-maxed stats, full health from two maximum health increases, and a nice slow weapon all combined is game breaking. Congrats!

    Here's the notes for the update. Coming out 5/4! At this point, the price will also increase by one dollar.

    ------------------------------------

    - Streaming added with Apple Replay!
    - Some bugfixes, including one for Enable Music.
    - Lots of tweaks!

    We're now working on a big update (codenamed: COCCYX) that will add a new Unlock System to the game. This should help with beginner player difficulty balance. You'll be able to earn new perks, traits, and more. We may also do one more small update before COCCYX, to add more feature requests.

    Full change list for this update:

    - Apple Replay support added for streaming game footage!
    - A fix for Enable Music acting strangely.

    - Passed out Bar rescue no longer picks weapons up when unconscious
    - Alternate foodless method to wake up POBR, takes a bunch of time instead.

    - Civilized now always starts with 1 morale, preventing cases where it started with 0 or -1. No more INSTANTLY LOSING a Civilized recruit.

    - Less frequent NOT ENOUGH MED SUPPLIES blurbs
    - OUT OF MEDS blurb lasts longer onscreen, same time as other med messages
    - OOM blurb can happen again if you heal, if a day passes, or you load a save.

    - Revamped CAR NUT now let you choose whether or not you want the new car if you recruit a CAR NUT after the game starts.
    - CAR NUT start of game check moved to game-start.df rather than the perk definition itself.
    - Added familiar-recruit-check for the CAR NUT choice and future things like it. We can move other things here if requested, so that a recruit properly only gives you things if recruited. Let us know in the comments.

    - Group healing doctor and trainers now have LEAVE as the first, default choice. Temporary measure until we can add extra options.
    - Strength trainer strength check event now moved to last option.

    - Cars no longer run out of gas if they have 0 car-mpg. No more losing the alien car for it being out of gas, hopefully.
    - Wizzle Stick now properly gets a weapon score bonus. Maybe this will make the wizard stop using baseball bats instead of his staff. Let me know!

    Misc Fixes

    - Fixed a needless extra dup with zombie summoning that lead to putting garbage on the memory stack.
    - Put in a missing day-passed tracking for a CYOA camp option
    - Cancelled LNK day
    - Pronoun correction for bully-sprayit
    - Corrected recruit-familiarreplace, before it was unused and familiar characters were using the normal recruit-replace
    - Changed familiar camp recruits to also use the above

    - Modern Spear is now named Tactical Spear, which is a much more tactical name.

    - The Blunt Master sledgehammer trader now has a special sale on 4/20, though it's a little late now. NEXT YEAR.

    I miss the red blood of zombies. Kepa, you think you can give us an option where we can choose between red colored blood or the original?

    That was a fantastic read thank you for sharing.. I "almost" enjoy the stories generated out of the death road as much as actually traveling it.

    @Kepa: would it be possible to add a Diary feature somehow that would allow travelers to document their journeys at each rest stop? I would love to document mine. Maybe uploaded to a server and streamed back down to the game for others to enjoy?

    Zombies' blood is all rotten and lacking oxygenation, so it's never gonna be bright red. Also the bright red blood of humans makes a nice contrast to the dark zombie blood when they get bit.

    We really want to add more stat tracking and story logging. Like what you ran into each run. Kind of like the super detailed logs in a Roguelike such as Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. Not exactly sure if we'll do this anytime soon, though. Maybe one of those "do in a sequel, then maybe look into back-porting it" ideas.

    We're going to look into dropbox maybe. iCloud was pretty buggy for us in Punch Quest, plus we want something that could work with the PC versions for cross-platform play.

    Great! I am looking forward for the next update. Haven't been able to beat Deadlier Road yet (since my gametime is limited nowadays), but I am in no rush.

    Tip on how to beat this game to Canada???

    Have not been able to beat always close but lose on the last zombie surges. Any tips would be appreciated

    If you're talking about the last zombie siege in the town then the best tactic is to not go in any of the houses (unless the siege has just begun and you're desperate for ammo) and just run around the outskirts of the town as close to the edge as possible. That way you should herd most of the zombies around in a circle and can leave immediately once the siege ends.

    It's good to have guns and ammo on all your characters but really save all your attacking for when you are trying to punch through a thick patch of zombies as you run around in a circle. Chainsaws are especially good for this.

    Also if your dudes are getting really exhausted but keep attacking nearby zombies they should just be running past remember you can change their aggressiveness and weapon choice by pausing

    Thanks I will try the circle tactic. I seem to just get smothered in eaten.

    Finally was able to beat this tough game lost 2 characters at the end but made it to Canada

    Running in circles is good, I tend to stop and kill a few on each pass to help keep the numbers down a bit. How many you take out is a judgement call as you risk being overwhelmed.

    The houses often contain pipe bombs and grenades, so if you don't have large numbers of zombies on your tail it can be worth going in quickly to pick some up as they take out lots of Z.

    I've normally used little to no ammo by this point, and now is the time to go all out. I equip every character I can with 2 guns and 1 melee, be sure to take shooting skill into account when deciding who gets which weapons.

    A strong fit character with something like a claymore, tactical spear or medieval axe as your leader can be a lifesaver here, you can clear out small groups of zombies blocking your path as you run around quickly and efficiently.

    Since I'm already doing this I'll put a couple of general tips to help you get to the last siege in the best shape possible.

    Starting out with a martial artist warrior normally gives me a good run. A paranoid car nut buddy helps too.

    Keep your group to two people as long as you feel comfortable, you can stockpile more food for traders.
