Yeah, if I wanted to completely discourage fighting I would have gotten rid of weapons. To be very specific, you're supposed to fight as little as you can get away with while gaining stats and hoarding supplies for the sieges. In practice, sometimes people try to kill absolutely everything, but this just makes them have to face the night horde (which used to be a nearly guaranteed game ender). Deadlier Road is what I consider the "true mode" of the game. It was the level of difficulty I intended for launch, but ended up adding an easier mode as the default normal mode. The difficulty of the game's also gotten a little lower over time as we keep adding/balancing stuff. Still not easy. Bonus Trivia: Past Deadlier I originally didn't really care about the game being fair in the highest difficulties, at least too much. Especially with K*E*P*A mode, which I mostly just originally tested as being possible to win. These modes have gotten slightly easier with tweaks though, so the ALL MODE STREAK achievement is attainable.
The app store trailer for this game really features the shooting hordes of zombies part, that drew me in. Kind of lame that running from them is by design. Pretty fun game though.
If the choice is in red, than the zombie numbers or aggression will be higher than usual, meaning that location is harder than the other options.
You're running from them mostly when looting. The goal is to stock up on resources to get guns and ammo to use in sieges. You're encouraged to use some guns to survive in thicker-horde sieges. The last two sieges are actually a test to see if you have stocked enough ammo to survive the massive horde. The four-hour one includes many useful stuff to pick up, especially explosives.
And if theyre flashing you get an unusual outcome. I've discovered the disadvantage of having "rambo" on the team. He chews up ammo. By the time I get to the end siege, I have almost none of the sort he uses. Is there any way to stop him grabbing ammo and blasting away?
Switch AI to Smashing. It reliably stops them from using a gun most of the time, except for some rare moments that it doesn't work. If it fails, manually control Rambeux to conserve ammo.
Haha. Should have called Deadlier Road the "Wayward Souls" difficulty. I was wondering why I could beat the regular difficulty mode without days of practice and throwing my phone at the wall in frustration several times. Maybe have a bonus game mode with unlimited ammo and see how many zombie kills you can get? I love the way it is, but it'd also be fun to just be able to actually not have to conserve all the ammo for the sieges. Another awesome game thanks!
Purchased this today and wow what a great game, did 4 runs today, as a complete newbie I went in blind. Any tips for newbies? Is it possible to use the medpacks you gather during runs? How do you heal a character?
Medpacks are used automatically if you have them during the random events in the car or walking (if you don't have a car). The success of its use is determined by the medical skill of the character using it. Successful or not the medpack is used.
There is a healing spray found in hospitals (and maybe some other locations) that you can equip like a weapon and use a few times during an event, but most healing is done via the medpacks while driving or with doctors at trading camps. Save your food!
urg IMPROMPTU CONTEST Give an idea for a new special character! I'll collect some of them for later updates. The "Swole Stallion" idea I saw before is instantly disqualified.
My first one - The Super Bully (based on the character from three o'clock high, a classic movie). Stats (strength, fitness and shooting) depends on morale (isn't how all bullies are made of? lol). If he has low morale he bullies a character from the group and "steal" his morale level instead. Unique weapon might be a unique brass-knucles, which makes punching stronger or something like that.
On one man strikes fear in the undead, has ran for president and is also friends with George Clooney and other celebrities Cobra Commander!!! Shooting hi loyalty low morale hi and can raise morale by shouting COBRA! Might leave group to conquer the world with his weather denominator [/IMG]
