Also, a tip: as far as I can tell, the AI judges the effectiveness of weapons based on the characters Str/Fit and swaps in the best weapon for them. For example, if you give your buddy a cleaver and a sledgehammer, if he has high stats he'll use the sledgehammer and if he has lower stats he'll use the cleaver. You can kind of judge if you know their Str/Fit stats which weapons are heavier and lighter. In some cases, common sense helps as well: a knife is obviously lighter than a pitchfork. Basically, just stack weapons onto the AI until they find one they really like and won't swap out of, and that's the weapon for them.
I think a feature that you could add that would chill people out a bit is the ability to select your previous game's 'abandoned' car as an option for your first scavenge location. The car location could contain a random % of loot from your previous game, so you could start with (at least) part of what you ended your previous trip with. Alternatively the car location could contain 100% of your previous loot but have it scattered around in a siege-style event forcing the player to pick and choose what to salvage. This 'abandoned car' location option should only pop up if you make it past 5 days or whatever.
I got a pretty good laugh out of this short exchange between these two so I had to post a screen shot. Immediately after this Verlin gets mad and kicks one of the tires on their car breaking the car and leaving them to travel on foot.
I'm on the last day and I stopped as I know they're all going to die. The mop lady left us in a hissy fit just before this...talk about bad timing. No ammo and three people who are good but not THAT good. And all of them in poor health. Doom is spelled out in big letters. Im thinking it's a good idea to save up ammo for the last day?
Also maybe I'm just not survivor savvy but I have failed to find any new recruits on the "mall rescue" twice - I swear I've triple-checked every room and there's no one to rescue?
I just did it too and couldnt find anyone. I also did a cabin rescue, found the chainsaw, but accidentally dropped it top right near a fridge? It vanished somehow. At the moment Im a day from Canada with a new group including the sumo and alvis and no one seemes to be losing health even when I run them at a big group of zombies.
Weird, they should be in a side room after one of the two big rooms at the back of the map. I'm not sure why this would error much, since there's not a lot of moving parts to mess up.
We wanted to do something like this, or maybe finding a skeleton of your previous character with some loot around it. Has been a planned feature since early development, but we just never got around to it. Still on the POSSIBLE COOL STUFF IN UPDATE list, though.
Nice! It's not like I think it's necessary but I feel like the more you can carry over from a previous run in a roguelike the less frustrating it is, providing it doesn't weaken the experience too much. You've got enough "bandits take 50% of your sh*t" moments in the game to balance it out, but maybe it's a 'sequel' kind of addition. I just think it's a good idea because there's no obvious reward for making it 10 days in as opposed to making it past a single day, and yet it takes a lot of gameplay to get there! Multiple 10-day experiences and many will just offer up their meat sacks to the zombies and move on... modern gamers would be the first to go in the real zombpocalypse. The first time I did a mall rescue I found someone taking a dump but the following two times there was no-one... I did multiple room checks and nothing. Also there is one specific abl location choice (can't remember which one) which hasn't materialized the actual location anywhere in the burbs multiple times... I *think* it might have been the gun shop but I'm not sure. If it happens again I'll let you know. Cheers for the replies #
Ha! Did not expect this at all! Its the Power Rangers, and I know there are 5 of them but i couldn't find the other 2 (Group morale go down because of this), double checked it. Is this a bug or what?
I seem to be getting worse not better at this game. Before I pretty much ran around like a chicken with its head cutoff. Now I'm strategically picking my fights and trying to load up on resources. Unfortunately it's leading to untimely deaths.
I found all 4. I also found the fencing lady, who is amazing when healthy, but my party consisting of her, Florence the vicious poodle? and two others, ran out of food for ages and everyone deserted the car, one by one. It left only her and the dog, the dog died, another lady was recruited, then the fencer decided she'd had enough and ran off. Lol Someone said starving made no difference to the game play but it made a huge difference.
I hate this forum for making me buy and play this.....it ate up a whole day of my life....also it's soo good x.x Found a dog, jason?, and some guy with a sword...also killed everyone in the car. Seriously though I love DRtC
