Josh: Yeah we're doing Death Rally with Remedy and another Finnish game company called Cornfox & Brothers, it's been in full development since the early last summer. (Cornfox guys are the talent behind many of the well known THQ games on the App Store) jxw245: You can upgrade different aspects of the car, customize the car paint jobs, choose weapons, upgrade weapons etc. Der-Kleine: There's no redneck theme in this game. Death Rally takes place in a lethal world of illegal street racing, with a few cameo surprises thrown in to not make it too serious And lots of weapons!
This looks pretty cool - bits of it remind me of AutoDuel from the 80s, which I loved. Will there be more than just machine guns? And will there be any sort of quest/story progression? Or just race/upgrade until you get to the boss? And are all the maps going to be linear race tracks or will there be some free-for-all roads and/or arenas too? I've been dying for an AutoDuel type game on the iphone - I realize this isn't really an RPG like AD was, but even if it has some of the features AD had, that would be awesome.
+1 To open Arenas and i'm assuming there will be many different types of weapons and i hope they aren't all guns, maybe some spikes or something. Any info on release date and price?

Another amazing looking game.... iOS gaming is really stepping up to a whole new level in 2011 .... with presumably iPhone5 multi-core CPU + maybe GPU i can imagine some games looking absolutely epic!
Gamerl01: Interstate 76 and Vigilante 8 were inspirations for the desert environment. Though it's not 1:1 in terms of gameplay compared to those two. Artfoundry & jxw245: There's several different weapon types, not just machine guns. For example spiked bumpers from the original game make a return. Player has "fame" which can be improved by winning races and defeating opponents -> then more tougher races are revealed. Release date is next month as the title says. No info on pricing yet. Haruhi: You will know soon synagence: iPad 2 and iPhone 5 sound tasty and next year we could be seeing console level graphics on these devices. It's crazy how much power it is possible to fit into a small device these days. I grew up during the period of original Nintendo Entertainment System so it's freaking me out just thinking about it
Achievement Competition Calling for Entries! Post your Achievement ideas here at the toucharcade.com forums. The one that stands out and is to our liking gets to be in the game! It could be your idea that is going to be the 50th achievement in Death Rally! Here are some of the other almost 50 achievements we have already in place: - Shooting star: Raise your fame in 10 consecutive races! - Shortest fuse: Die during the first lap of the race! - Barrel roller: Knock down 50 barrels! Maybe yours will be something like: - Duke-on-a-stick: Wreck Duke Nukem's brand spanking new car with Spiked Bumpers You have until Monday (March 7th) to come up with an idea - the race is on! Here's an achievement idea, although I'm not sure if it is possible in the this iOS version: Spin-Master: Spin out (360 degrees) at least X times in a race! X would probably be something like 5 or 10.
Here's some more achievement ideas: Untouchable: Complete a race without taking any damage Mineaholic: Only use mines to take out other racers for the whole game Godlike: Complete the entire game without taking any damage Mr. Conservative: Complete the game without upgrading anything (same avatar, same car, weapons, etc) Slayer: Destroy the other X vehicles in a single race (X is obviously the total number of racers, but I'm not sure if that is still 7) Confused or Backward Bob: Race backward destroying all of the other vehicles and then finish the race Pacifist: Complete the game with a 1st place on every track without destroying any other vehicles (could also be just one race) Mission Impossible: Complete the game getting 1st on every track, not taking any damage, and destroying all of the other vehicles in every race Barrel Love: Purposefully hit every barrel in the race that has the most barrels
A couple of ideas although Serian's were all really good. Sunday Driver: get lapped by every other car Lead Foot: Lap every other car Student Driver: maintain slow speed throughout race (maybe achievement gets you a nice "Student Driver" decal on the back of your car)
Chain Gunner - Shoot down a car with guns, causing a second car to be taken down from the explosion/death of the first (if this is possible). Duke Nuke'm All! - Destroy all (or X) opponents with missiles. The new trailer looks awesome!
Reckless driver: Destroy 50 cars Death addict: Play Death rally at least once every day for a hole week Pimp my ride: Upgrade your car 10 times Joyrider: Push a destroyed car using your car for 1 minute The Chuck Norris mobeal: Destroy every car in a race Collateral damage: Destroy 2+ cars using one rocket Thanks
