Agreed. I'm starting to believe some of the people complaining haven't actually played the game. The handling is much more arcadey than Reckless Racing. You don't need braking or different controls, just know your vehicles and learn when to whip corners.
Id like to know this too..how much fame for the last 2 achievements. As for the use every weapon achievement, make sure you killed someone with the bumpers on your car. You can check stats to see if you killed someone by using the car bumper. You probably have not and thus havent gotten the achievement.
I don't see why some ppl r complaining about controls... Lemme just say one thing, if you are good with dual stick shooters, you should be fine...
It's because stick controls, specifically this virtual stick, does not work for racing games. Tell me how many racing games (that have done well and show the amount of polish this does) use a virtual stick. I can answer that. Slim to none. If any. Asphalt Series Real Racing Series Fastlane Street Racing Reckless Racing 2XL Rally NFS Series (Hot Pursuit, Shift, Underground) Crash Bandicoot 1 and 2 Jet Car Stunts 4x4 Jam (Invictus) Uber Racer Stunt School (BBC America) All these do not use virtual sticks, because they do not work. The only games that have virtual sticks that work "semi-decent" is 2XL's Motorcross line. I still have to change the control options in that game because the virtual stick is not a good choice. Also 2XL Games also incorporated several other control options for their Motorcross line. Which should be a necessity for any racing game thats released. Good game other than the controls. Wrong. Absolutely not true whatsoever. The fact is this, they should have included optional control options in the first build. That is a huge mistake to make. I cannot fathom why they would have over looked this. Was it to meet the deadline? I feel cheated for the price. $4.99 for all of 5 cars, and 5 weapons? Come on. I expected tons more "content" which I hopes come in a future update. This game should contain no less than 10 different cars, and a career that lasts longer than 1 hour (hyperbole). I was able to reach 75% completion in a matter of 63 minutes. Yes I timed it. That is way too short. There are cheaper apps out there that provide more content, sometimes 5 fold the content that this does. The AI also needs to be altered. The fact that the bosses are able to get so far ahead in the beginner difficulty is a facet that I find to nothing more than another over sight. Take your time and don't rush. Take the time to beta test this properly, heck why not hold a beta test using the people who are the biggest critics of your game, (us the consumers), we know best, and we know what we want. The game, more times than not, is made for the consumers. Personal Anecdote incoming: I don't hate the game, it is quite fun. But I expected so much more from Remedy than this lackluster attempt at a first release. The old game was amazing, and it feels as thought the Curse of the Sequels has struck again. Updates are imperative for this game, but at the "steep" (another hyperbole) price tag I recommend you wait. Add more cars, a multiplayer (Online, LAN-Wifi, Bluetooth), and/or a demolition derby (hell I would prefer normal campaign + destruction derby over multiplayer any day). I may come off strongly and that is due to the overwhelming potential this game has. I want to see this succeed and being honest and straight forward with all my thoughts can better help devs develop the game to the best it can be.
Wouldn't it be more of a matter of perspective? Every one of those games, you control the car from a directly-behind or drivers view. Death Rally is an overhead, and the vehicles are not always going away from you. I think a car rounding the corner and heading towards you, with tilt controls, would seriously confuse the player.
It's up to the player to decide, not the developers. That was a huge mistake not incorporating multiple control options. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I also would like to take the time to comment on the odd issue of Achievements not saving correctly when offline. I earned a good 7 achievements while offline, then I connected to game center again and none of the achievements I earned offline register when I reconnect again. Not sure if this is a known issue, but I think it should be looked into (So long as its not just me who happens to be experiencing this.)
This game doesn't need a break really, I notice it slows down for your on turns, or if you just let go of the pad. Either way, this top down racer wouldn't work without the joy stick. The tilt function would make it way too hard to control on some maps, and it be total chaos doing that AND shooting. There maybe other control schemes they could of done, but tilt would of definitely not worked.
I kinda wished that you could equip 2 weapons , instead of 1 default machine gun on one side. Maybe have an option of 2 weapons, but the both weapon would have limited ammo just like the primary and when you run out, you run out.
I just checked the stats and had 7 kills with the bumpers already. Played a level and got another bumper kill just in case but still won't unlock. Figured maybe I got a kill with something else like the shotgun while offline and it didn't sync with GC, so I played some more races and made sure I got kills again with all the weapons while connected and still nothing. Guess it just doesn't wanna give me that one
Actually it's very true. I gravitate to the controls in this game because I play a lot of dual stick shooters and overhead adventure games that use an analog stick (which the Appstore is chock full of). I'd die trying to use the Reckless Racing control scheme. It's this stubborness that created drama with Taggames and Car Jack Streets back in the day, and that game suffered for it.
He or she, is wrong in the sense that if you are good at FPS youll be good at this game. Making that generalization is what was wrong.
Small question: I upgraded every weapon and car to a max but my progress still shows as 99%. What do I need to do to get it to 100%?
I agree wholeheartedly with iphoneprogrammer on this one; the qoute above is untrue. I'm fairly good at twinstick shooters, and I absolutely hate the controls in this game! They should at least give some other options to the gamer. Two arrows on the left side and shoot button on the right with auto acceleration would do it for me, then I think I would enjoy this game, which I aren't at the moment. Also, there ought to be an option to pul the camera further away, and/or a map so you can see where you're going. A racing game should not rely on memorization of every turn in the game.
First of all whatever changes are made (if they are made) should be optional and not replace current control. Secondly, I think Horror racing half weel and a shoot button did it right. I had absolutely no problem with those controls. One thing Reckless Racing did absolutely right is include every control option imaginable. Perhaps thats something that can be introduced over time... Lack of map and closeness of action fits this game perfectly as it is an arcade game and higher visibility would allow longer distance shooting, which will make the game much easier. A lot of people have been comparing this game to various racing games. This is not a racing game.
It is a racing game - a racing game with guns.. Shoot and/or drive to win the game. Plenty of racing games with guns have succeeded with the cam farther away on other platforms...
I personally think the controls are great. I can't see why anyone would have an issue with them. I can do anything I want in this game and have 0 issues. Maybe it's just because I'm a more experienced gamer than the casual sort iOS tends to draw in.
Or maybe you could just respect and accept that some people, casual or not, just don't like the controls and can't adjust to them. Personally, I've been playing games since the early eighties, I'm surely not what you'd call a "casual gamer", and I hate the controls in this game.
I wish they would at least ad a few more control options as well. I am nowhere near a casual player, but actually work with games for a living. Gief more control options, please.
