+1 Have to wait for more people to download the update.

I am dissapointed by IAP for flamethrower. One of the reasons I liked the game is that you can unlock everything by actually playing. I thought this game would be different from the crowd. Now I can see multiplayer IAPs coming down the track.. Sad. At least the devs should have the decency not to display flamethrower in the weapons line up unless I actually have the weapon or have the opportunity to get it by playing.
I bought it on release and its a great game, but I don't feel like being milked.
Its not a question of spending a dollar, its a question of treatment of customers.

I started playing multiplayer "the minute it came out" and it works great. Takes some seconds (worst up to twenty seconds) to get a game going, but i think it´s normal, because few people have the update installed already.
I saw no teleportation or felt lag. It feels solid at the moment and is quite fun.

I feel for you there. Have you tried contacting Remedy Entertainment and/or Mountain Sheep?

This is an amazing port of Death Rally. I forgot all about this game until TA did a review of it.
I'm glad that they kept Duke Nukem in it!

Whoaaaaa man!!! I'm really liking multiplayer. So you pretty much start out with a new/basic car that you have to upgrade. you click on one of the three maps to begin a game. My first time it timed out, but after that I've been able to get into a match in about 10 seconds. You definitely can feel the "user error" in matches which is what makes multiplayer so freakin' fun. After a match you get to spend any money you have on enhancements for your car.

Yes there is an IAP, but it doesn't impede your gameplay at all. Actually it gives you a flamethrower, two cars , a new level, and new rewards (I personally don't like IAP, but I understand why the developer added them. The game is kind of old and they need the monetary support.)

As far as the bug, it seems that with the screen orientation lock on, the buttons get reversed. Meaning that in order for me to control my car, I have to use the top right part of the screen. If you close out of the app, but don't kill it, it will work properly.

This is quickly turning into one of the most promising multiplayer titles for the platform :) I really, really like the idea of a multiplayer campaign, with lots of incentive to keep playing, beyond the actual fun of racing against other humans. Keep that stuff coming!

    Two feature requests, though:

    • The ability to play against selected Game Center friends. Extremely important to ANY multiplayer system. The primary reason I've been waiting for the Death Rally multiplayer update was not this excellent multiplayer campaign, nor the option to play against randomly chosen human opponents (though now that we have the options, they are indeed great to have :) ), but to finally be able to challenge my pals.
    • Quite some time ago, before the coming of Duke Match, I voiced my hope for arena combat maps. Will there be more, preferably available in both multi- and single player, ones that simply put us up against random enemies, like normal races? (Sorry, Duke. You just ain't what you used to be...)

Should I get this or Real Racing 2 with it's current sale? I already have Asphault 6 when it went free, but I'm curious if another racing game is worth it with the sales and updates going around. Or the Sonic Kart Racer?

Real Racing 2 and this are 2 totally different games. real Racing is more of a simulation and definitely requires some skill to control the car. Death Rally is more "arcadish", but really fun. Both have nice visuals, but I like the art style of Death Rally better.

Get Real Racing 2 if you want more of a simulator.

Get Death Rally if you just want a fun racing game.

One of my favorite games just got better. While not as awesome as I'm sure it will be out of beta, the multiplayer shows tons of promise and is plenty fun as it is now.

However, I agree with the others here who expressed disappointment that the flamethrower is an IAP only. Part of the fun of this game is working and working and working until you can finally unlock everything... paying a buck feels like we're being forced to cheat.

Great job with the multiplayer though, I look forward to it being finished!

Multiplayer is flawless so far. Just need to get the word out so there are more players.

I swear that Eureka was previously earned by actually playing the game and not via IAP. Am I wrong? I remember working toward unlocking it but then getting distracted by something shiny.

    You're correct.
You can still unlock everything IG without an IAP save for the Flamethrower unless I'm mistaken.

Either way, this is an excellent remake of Death Rally. I haven't played multiplayer yet.
    Should I try?

You should definitely check out the multiplayer! This my general review of it from earlier.

Would it be possible to make game rooms where people can chat for a few seconds before the game begins? The multiplayer as of now is pretty good and fun with no lag at all.

A couple questions for anyone interested...

    1) Does anyone have any screen shots/video of the flame thrower in action? I'd like to see it before I even consider paying for it.

    2) Also, this may seem like a strange question, but does anyone feel like when they're playing this game that you feel as though you aren't accelerating quickly enough? In other words, I often feel like I am 'standing still' even though I am moving at full speed.

    Oh, and one more thing...

I really wish that there was a way to equip more than one weapon at a time. I think being able to equip two weapons at a time is not out of line and would make me much more interested in the gameplay. Am I missing something here? Is there a way to equip two at a time?

It's a tease to have so many cool weapons at your disposal and being restricted in usage.
