Pro tip: You can just tell the game you're going to like it on Facebook, and it will take you to their page in the Safari browser. But then you can exit Safari and pop right back into the game and have the new paint jobs without actually having to sign into Facebook and do the whole "click the like button" business.

But shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell anybody I told you this.

i loved this game up until the only thing i had left to do was destroy the adversary. every post i've read about people beating him says it took 30, 40, 50+ tries AND luck. that's not 'fun'.

i'm sorry that some people are so hard up for cash that they can only buy one game for their iphone, and they want that game to laaaaast, but it doesn't make sense for the final boss to be this difficult. it's so unbalanced.

all that said, it was a buck. i definitely got my money's worth. i'm just disappointed in not being able to see the ending (if there is one...and there had better be one since there was some sort of plot in the beginning) because the developers are stuck in the age of DOS gaming.

EDIT: seriously, **** this game. i finally destroyed the adversary, and yeah, it depends entirely on the random pick-ups (and if the stupid boxes will even break). and what happens? SPOILER: nothing.

The Adversary battle is epic. Why do people have so much trouble these days with knowing a character in a game is borderline better than them?

What's lame is when a game sells a boss as being all-powerful and then he falls to your hand every time.

I concur with your assessment Swarmster.

The object of a challenging opponent is for either the opponent to be better than you in skill, or possess a set of skills that you yourself are not capable of dealing with.

Because, there's a difference between a challenging boss and an "over-powered" one. I'm up for a good challenge and all, but I prefer enemies you can beat using skill, strategy, or effort -- for example, grinding (probably not for everyone) in RPGs. Requiring a ton of luck and retries is not exactly my idea of an awesome battle.

Well, I agree it shouldn't involve lots of luck, but you think grinding is fun? That's why I don't play the Zenonia games I bought. Talk about a bore and there's no skill whatsoever involved in grinding games. All you have to do is grind until you win overwhelmingly. Where's the fun in that?

I have not gotten to the point of trying to destroy the adversary yet, mind you, so I'm not really saying anything about that in this game.

Grinding in RPGs is a perfect example of what I consider lame boss-play. If a game doesn't give the player ways of walking all over everything that stands in their way, it's derided. I disagree. You can't say David would have beaten Goliath without a tiny bit of luck. (I guess, unless you consider God like his Knights of the Round summon?)

Making use of the item crates is very much a part of the game. Why wouldn't it be a factor in the final part?

I totally agree with everyone who says that The Adversary was way overpowered and literally outclassed everything Remedy ever put in your garage.

I say "was," because I think Remedy might have dumbed him down in the latest DR upgrade. This evening I beat him in few races that were not "throw the iPod into the pool" difficult, and I finally got the achievement in which I killed him. Before today I beat him, but I never even came CLOSE to destroying him. Methinks something got rebalanced behind the scenes.

Which is why I added the "skill, strategy or effort" and the "probably not for everyone" part. Depending on the game it should require either more skill or strategy. By effort I mostly meant that as long as you play through the game fully, you should be able to manage most enemies, with some giving players a harder challenge. Grinding was just an example, and to be honest I don't really recall having to do so in games I've played (although I haven't played Zenonia). And not all people hate grinding anyway.

And about the crates, you can get by the other matches without using any (although you'll still pick them up without trying), but for the Adversary you'll need a ton of ammo pickups and some nitro -- which very much depends on luck.

Haven't tried the update yet, hopefully that's the case. :/

    Here's some developer information!

Cornfox & Bros. : Game Design, Lead Programming and Lead Art
Mountain Sheep : Production, Game Design and Additional Art.
Remedy Entertainment : Publishing, Marketing and Sound Design

My company, Cornfox & Bros. is less known company of the trio, but we have long history working with mobile games. Some recent well known games we were involved in are DeBlob Revolution and Star Wars: Cantina.

Cornfox was established in March 2010 and very quickly we started to work with Death Rally together with wonderful people of Mountain Sheep.

Okay thanks. Any of you guys got anything new in the works for the near future, or is supporting death rally going to be top of the list (although it already seems supported well enough).

I wish you all great success and have recommended DR to my iPod gaming buddies. Hopefully, they will enjoy it as much as I have.

On another note, can you give ANY hint as to when multiplayer MIGHT possibly drop? Any slight hint would be fine...

"Hopefully, the new update will SPRING into action."
"My wife AUTUMN seems to think that would be a good idea."

I'll take any hint at this point, devs ;-)

I concur the concur, maybe I was 'lucky' but I beat him on the 5th (or so) attempt and still like to go back for a challenge. Lebowski ...

Playing (and possibly winning?) the challenges does count toward your completion.

I don't think you have to win. I only did a marathon once, didn't win, and won't ever do it again, and I have 154/154.

As for this game, it's okay. It has a lot going for it including nice graphics, and customization (though I always hate when there is one car with better stats in every category than any other car, making all the other cars pointless as soon as you unlock it, which doesn't take long). But the camera angles and controls really kill the experience for me a lot. There are only 2 camera angles, and 1 just feels totally wrong to me for a racing game. Camera angle 2 is a bit better, but can't even be used in all race modes, and doesn't play well with the controls (for instance if you get bumped and turned around it is virtually impossible to get back to going the right direction because the track rotates as your car turns so you can't make sharp turns and can't back up, etc.). Multiplayer would be a nice addition, but I would much rather see new camera angles, or control schemes, as nothing currently available feels quite right.

Picked up the game a few days ago and had a blast. I had played the original PC version a lot back then so the camera angle 1 and controls were what I used (which seems like whta the PC version used). The game is just as shallow, but just as fun too. I don't have any of the tracks memorized, so its pretty hard for me to get 1st. I can usually at least place 3rd or 2nd. I enjoy destroying the opponents more than actually racing tho! =P

Yeah, the game is about luck tho a lot of times. I lost to the Adversary a bunch of times before finally beating him (by destroying him). The marathon...I won't do it again either. I did almost win tho...

Overall, the game is perfect for me for the moments I just want mindless fun.

I am curious, now that the first 100+ entries on the leaderboards are illegitimate, whether there has been any investigation into what could be done about the problem. Do the devs have any level of access to Game Center, from which they might be able to ban users from their boards? Maybe the next update could reset the leaderboards and hard-code a list of people to ignore? Maybe people with their usernames would crash all the time (although I guess most probably aren't even playing the game at all)? I realize it would only be a partial solution, but surely they would eventually get bored and move on to a different game? (Although maybe not? Who knows what they derive any satisfaction from, if they ever do.)
