My bank account says otherwise . It's been a very expensive month, but I guess one more game won't break me.
Their is gas, brake isn't needed the action is too fast, it's not a simulation. The physics are just fine. Lots of sliding, bumping, hitting objects, and my signature slide across finish sideways.
Just noticed you can change your car color in the garage by tapping the car. Btw if you like RR or top-down racing in general you'll like this game. Plus RR is old now, been there done that, time to try something new. Plus this is Death Rally: you can pretend you're Jason Statham while tearing it up.
I am actually having a lot of fun with this game. Controls take a bit of getting used to but it is not impossible to come first after a bit of practice and leveling up. It is important to upgrade speed and weapons, if you want to be able to assassinate the boss. The physics in the game are similar to Reckless racing but not as good, however they don't need to be. This is not a racing game. This is the game where avoiding destruction and killing opponenets is as important as winning the race. Yes, there are cars that have better AI and unless your driving is nearly flawless there is no way you are going to catch up with them unless you destroy them from behind. The UI is beautiful. After the race you see your damaged car and can witness it being repaired. Graphics are fantastic and similar to Reckless Racing as well. You can actually change the vehicles' colours and patterns as well. I am having a blast with it. I am not very good at these games so for me "FUN" factor is more important than scoring or realism, and this game is plenty of fun.
You can also see your damage as you race. I would guess there's about 4 hours of gameplay to finish 100%, but then there is the fame meter which is really long, so you can continue playing to earn more fame and compete via GameCenter. There are five difficulty levels and the races get pretty brutal so you have to upgrade things. There are 9 levels of upgrades for each weapon alone.
This game is better than Reckless Racing IMO. Takes a little getting used to since there is no mini map on it.. it kind of threw me off... heres a few videos I made with sound. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Which camera do you guys prefer? I tend to use camera 2 on the really tricky tracks like the Refinery, for some reason I can react to the turns better.
Downloaded it, but after I launch it, it just sits on a loading screen with the words: DEATH RALLY. There's no "START" or "BEGIN" button, nothing. Wish I could play and give impressions...
I've had it crash once when trying to start a challenge race, but besides that this game is awesome. I especially like the unlocking system by picking up pieces in races.
Try restarting your device. If that does not help then delete the game and download again. Hope that helps! For me Death Rally is one of the best games I ever played on iPhone/iPad as it's very fun. You can feel the love, polish and all the hard work devs put into this as it's showing through the whole game. The fun factor is extremely high in this game and that's what's the most important to me. Can't wait to see what the devs will come up with next. Definitely a MUST BUY.
Haha! It is a good game, but there are a few issues and flaws to it. I wouldn't say its the best game I have ever played. Reckless Racing takes the cake for top down racer for me. You're right in the respect that the fun factor is quite high. I would have liked to see a wider variety in tracks, not just the same ones reversed. More cars, and weapons. For $4.99 I think thats a fair request, especially considering there are games sold for less that provide much much more. I mean right now Reckless Racing is on sale for $0.99 and it has lots more tracks and cars. I use RR as a comparison because it's in the top 1% of the top down racers, and it is a phenomenal piece of work.
Finally got it up and running, so far I'm liking what I'm seeing. I never really liked Reckless Racing. In fact, after I initially (and excitedly) launched it for the first time, I never played again. I played two tracks and got bored. Already I've put a LOT more into Death Rally, so I think it's safe to say I'm enjoying this game MUCH more
Hmmm I did not know there was a top down mode in real racing . But this definitely is better than reckless racing for me. The controls feel better after getting used to them and it has much more action. Totally different games though so comparisons are rather pointless. Also the graphics are AMAZING on a 4th gen ipod. I didn't even think the Minigore engine could pull this off.
