Yeah it does say you have to achieve the fame level of "the 42", I don't think marathon would have anything to do with it unless it gives you $42 million to convert to fame or something... :/
I don't know if you guys know but 42 is the answer to the question of life, universe and everything (hitchhiker's guide). Has nothing to do with marathon.
It's not related to any track, it's simply a fame amount you have to achieve. Well, well, well above 42 million fame like others have guessed. We're not mentioning the amount because it's more than likely to be lowered to a more reasonable amount later. God of all Gods is 10 mill btw.
Maybe you have to reach position 42 or higher in gamecenter leaderboard to get this achievement. What about "god of all gods" ? Position number 1...?
It is just the 5 tracks for now that are unlocked from the beginning, but I think the game does a great job of hooking you in with its career mode. Your objective in career mode is to unlock all of the vehicles and, of course, become the studliest racer ever. Each race the player is able to choose 1 of 6 options (the 5 courses or the special challenge being offered up for this race only). The 5 courses as well as the challenge are all given 1-5 star difficulty ratings with the tougher challenges offering at least the potential for bigger rewards if you do well in them. While where you place in the race probably has the biggest effect toward your winnings, if you managed to take out this race's designated boss, other opponents you took out, and even the number of power-ups you managed to grab also have a bearing on the amount of cash doled out to you at the end of the race. This cash awarded serves two purposes as it is the money used to fuel the upgrades in your garage but also is used to measure your racing experience which, once it hits certain milestones, will allow you access to new cars for your garage. Since you are just given these cars, the money is never actually spent on buying new cars but on repairing damage from the last race, improving your speed, buffing your armor, or even improving the power of any of the weapons you've managed to unlock so far. I also love how, unlike most games that have these upgrades as discrete steps, all of this game's upgrades are handled in a very liquid manner. You could put $5 into improving your engine and $2,035 into beefing up your shotgun. While you are unlikely to see any differences in these upgrades until you fill up one of the gage associated with that item (up to that particular weapon or vehicle's hard limit), you are free to determine the priority you give each item with your spending. I love the game's special challenges! These are just fun changes of pace that will have the player racing on one of the game's 5 tracks with some special rules in play like just a duel with one other opponent, no weapons allowed, or one of many other bizarre special conditions. These challenges, while clearly stated for event selection, are chosen at random for each race so if you decide to pass on the "Missile Challenge" (all racers have missile launchers on their cars in this race) for this race selection, there is no telling when it will be offered again. I personally love the default controls as they use an almost dual stick shooter's approach to movement. No longer do you have to worry about your rights and lefts as you quickly double back on some windy road, just tilt the virtual pad toward the direction you want to be facing and the game automatically assumes you want to do it at maximum velocity (maybe the degree one jams the joystick in a direction affects the speed, I'm not sure). Assuming the devs stay true to their promise of new course, vehicles, weapons, and challenges, this game should have some legs. ON A TOTALLY UNRELATED NOTE: Since this is still more a racer than anything else, does anybody know of a good vehicular combat highscore survival like game on the iPhone or iPad? I really loved Scrap Metal's Derby Mode and would love to see more vehicular combat arena like games and KNOW they must exist.
What they should release is twisted metal on PS3 . Or introduce an arena mode or deathmatch mode into this game.
Adversary I have maxed out everything and cannot seem to beat the "adversary" any tips, need help please.
I personally prefer Camera 1, but many times I change cameras just for fun. Especially Adversary is easier to beat with second camera option. When we developed the game, we found out that about half of the players preferred Camera 1 and other half Camera 2. Camera 1 was used in development and Camera 2 were included later on to give a game "another control scheme". As many of you pointed out, it was clearly not enough so we are giving proper options for Arrow controls in next update. About Fame achievements. The "42" is something that wasn't meant to be gained right away - but it was designed so that you have a chance to gain it if you build your fame along the way we release the new updates and new content. Some could say it is 'ridiculous', but I would say it's just a real hardcore achievement! Some of you have tens of millions of Fame already, what will you have after couple of months! Thanks for playing Death Rally everyone and thank you for all the feedback. We are listening and working hard. - Heikki from Cornfox
Took me 3 hours to destroy adversary. Frustrated the hell out of me. Even considered either deleting the game or smashing the the ipad on the wall. Finally managed to kill the ******* this morning with the adversary dying at the last corner before the final lap. Phew So you're not alone. I sucked at this one too. For me it was mostly luck when I killed him as most of the power ups turned out to be Ammo Or Nitro in that try. So just keep trying until you get lucky too.
