Thanks for answering my question shen! It sounds like a lot of fun even with the two too fast AI opponents, guess I'll be using mines a lot or will try the swarm missles.
We need a good demolition derby in the arena game with a good sense of speed and collision detection where parts fall off, smoke, fire, explode etc. and last man standing apects in general! Would someone PLEASE do it?! Why doesn't anyone do this? I think lots of us want that!
I'm looking forward to playing this later tonight. It's the weapons and upgradeable vehicles that make it so appealing to me. It would be nice to have a demolition derby mode, hopefully there's a chance it'll be added in an update.
Agree with this pretty much.Everyone will probably need a few goes to get a handle on controlling the car,as like you i went wrong way and found hard to control at first, getting better now,but not perfect inmho, might need a few options for controls as used to different ones.It could just be that i suck tho It's ok but nothing spectacular, nice graphics with the added bonus of firepower and that but at the moment,i prefer Recklass Racing,i maybe in the minority tho.Might think different when i get a handle on the controls,as unlike you i haven't played this too much yet but will do when i get the time
Very impressed with this! Excellent production values, from the interactive intro/credit sequence to the in-game GUI to the graphics and gameplay. Virtual stick to drive, on-track bonuses (cash, nitro, exploding barrels, parts for unlocking new cars/weapons. Each race gets you cash to spend on speed/handling/armor/health and upgrading weapons. Every time you hit the home screen you see a different list of races to try: varying difficulty levels (higher multiplier/harder opponents), reversed/rotated tracks, and special challenge races for more fame. Difficulty progresses nicely, the first few races you'll likely lose badly, but once you start upgrading your first vehicle, you start to place 1st/2nd/3rd consistently. Of course killing your opponents makes the field less crowded. I haven't noticed any breakaway racers, we all finish within a second or two apart most of the time. Beating/killing the boss isn't overly challenging. There are Game Center achievements AND it is Universal including iPad2! 5/5 from me for this one!
I just found something thats quite annoying at least to me. When I drive over a bridge I expect to see the car react to the bump from the ground to the bridge, there are little ramps that connect the bridge to the ground however the car rides over them as if they are completely flat ground. In reckless racing when you hit a bridge you know you hit a bridge because the car reacts to the new height of the object its driving over. Kind of an oversight, especially if you consider this up to par with reckless racing. RR has better controls and the amount of detail is far superb to this first version of Death Rally.
A durned shame there are no racing physics, breaks, manual acceleration, etc. With RR physics, this could have been something truly spectacular. As of now, it is merely good. Looking forward immensely to multiplayer, in spite of this. Remedy, any chances of a AI mode where opponents drive at speeds according to their skill and vehicle, with no artificial boosts?
im kindof annoyed this isnt 2g compatible yet rr is... :'( il just have to wait and see if they ever update it
there are physics to the boxes and barrels on the tracks. Also, the controlls really wouldn't work atall with manual acceleration or breaks (both of wich one doesen't really need here.)
Oh, they'd work wonderfully. On a completely different note: Remedy Entertainment? Max Payne? It only struck me just now. What a track record for an iOS dev.
I love how damage attained during a race is reflected in how your vehicle looks in the garage. If you're at 10%, your car looks beat up with tires bent off their axle.
Racing with camera 2 (swivels with your car as you drive rather than the isometric view) is awesome. Somehow I end up navigating tracks better. I can assure you this game is more fun to drive and shoot. It's better than Reckless Racing to me, though I might be a bit biased against the arrow control scheme ever since Car Jack Streets. Analog stick is the way to go for me. With great arcadey handling, a comprehensive and addicting career mode and upgrade system, I've no doubt this game will do well on the charts, but what it's really missing is multiplayer. That would send this skyrocketing. Additional content like weapons, vehicles and stages would be nice as well. Another thing I wish this game had: more colour options so that I can paint my car as a bright red, yellow or blue. The browns and greys make it hard to distinguish your car whenever you're in a pack.
