    Thanky you Bust3rboi.

    Sleeping under bridges:
Actually, I once slept under bridges. But this was during a motor bike journey through cambodia. So, I am sorry dogmeat if I dissapoint you but this bridge thing was meant in a more figurative sense.

However, if I hadn't saved up some money before, I would for sure have to sleep under bridges if I relied on my App Store income. IMHO there is no chance of an adequate income for newcomers at the moment (except you have a really outstanding idea).

probably not the first iPhone dev

Given the number of crap apps out there, there are probably many developers sleeping under bridges now.

    For sure. But:
If you have a solid app which is not crap (at least I hope that my app is not) and the people who play it really like it. Then the question is: How to stand out of this pile of crap to get the exposure one deserves.

But: I must admit that there are devs who made worse. I heard of a dev in Johannisburg, Africa. Half of the extened family collected money to buy a used MacBook. It was their last hope.
I think he made some 20 bucks so far. This is really hard.

    Hi there,

just wanted to let you know that I wrote a new app, so maybe I can afford a fence to prevent the wild dogs from sleeping on my sleeping bench under my bridge.

Here is a video of the app:

    I remade the whole game

I tried to integrate as many ideas from here as possible. New Graphics. Not so cute (because many people did not like the cutness). Dark space ambience. I hope you like it.

    What do you think?

I don't like you dev, "Death and Despair"??

So, someone close to you died because your app didn't get enough sales, and now you are despairing and sleeping under a bridge? (And making up BS threads to get attention?)

Thank you, I will spend my money elsewhere.

I am very sorry about that. I dont want to offend anyone.

The headline of this thread is meant in a more figurative way. So, noone died here. Where I come from we use the term "death and despair" for any very bad thing that is going on. Some people may not like this term and I accept that you think it is a bit too extreme for my situation.

And yes, I want to get attention with this thread. But: This is not a stupid marketing trick or something like that. If you worked hard for some months on a game project and then your beloved game sells like complete crap you really get very very depressive. Believe me. Theres much despair around us iPhone devs.

Don't mind him. Someone accidentally left his cage open.

PS. You did a great job on imagine the scale. That was a great idea for an app. I bought that right away.

Going back to your original post (tired, not gonna read all 6 pages :p) anything that has "i" or "Phone" in the title instantly makes the game seem cheap. Most of my clicks are because the either the title or the icon (which looks pretty darn good). Titles can be tricky. "Defend Your Phone"... just no.

Yes, I think you are right. "Defend Your Phone" wasn't the best of game titles.

I hope people will like the new one more.

Maybe I have my dog trained run in a wheel to produce electricity?

Maybe I have to crank my generator with my left hand while coding the game with my right?

Maybe I eat cat food, live in a ghetto in Johannesburg and use some weird alien technology that is driven by rotten cows to write my games?

    No one knows.
