I hope so. The game is so fluid and polished...cant wait for Dead Trigger & Shadowgun: Deadzone(multiplayer).
As eager as I am to get this I will wait cautiously until MadFinger decides at what price to release this game. I was one of the early adopters for ShadowGun that got shafted with the price/multiplayer fiasco.
same here mate, it dropped in price a few weeks after it's u.s. release so i'm wondering about this one.
They dropped it in price so quickly because of the amount of times it was pirated which was was ridiculous. It was their way of trying to get legit purchases of the game rather than losing their shirts because of the pirates. I again was a day one buyer that was a bit annoyed by the reduction but once I found out why they did it, I understood their predicament and was glad I supported them with a day one purchase. And before any one asks, all apps transmit some bit of data back, so they do know how many devices the app is activated on and compare that to actual app store sales which gives the number of pirated versions.
I think consoles will eventually become a thing of the past based on the way technology is evolving. People will be streaming games from their mobile devices onto their tv screens I predict. No more of some clunky machine being hardwired into your tv. Portability is the key. Kind of like how CDs and DVDs are being phased out. 5 years ago Best Buy had giant DVD section...now...not so much.
Wait hold on, Your best buy doesn't have a huge dvd and cd section?? All the best buys near me have a cd and dvd section thats close to 1/4 or even 1/3 of the store!
Ive lived in Boston, Los Angeles and now Florida...all of the Best Buys Ive been in the past couple of years have been downsizing the DvD and CD sections.
I'm learning a lot by reading this thread, especially about the whole Retina vs. Effects discussion. What I gather from this is you guys are concerned that if the game runs at FULL Retina then the effects will not work as they should? Questions... -So it is possible to have PARTIAL RETINA and FULL RETINA (for IOS games in general). I thought if it was Retina it was Retina. However, I do often see the phrase 'Full Retina Support' and never 'Partial Retina Support.' -When you refer to 'effects' is this just a general term? What specific effects are you referring to?
From Madfinger's twitter: "A few days to DEAD TRIGGER Release! How do you like the new logo? " It could be coming this week! Or maybe next week, but it's really close now.
I class a few days as three days so that sounds like this week which would be excellent. I'm probably optimistic though.
First, from Marek's comments it seems that Madfinger has managed to run the game at full retina resolution and keep full effects, all at a decent framerate. But in answer to your questions: -Yes, it's possible to have partial retina. iPad screens support multiple resolutions (like a PC screen); also, some games like Infinity Blade 2 use tricks to push fewer pixels (such as letterboxing). -when people use "full effects" here they're referring to things like dynamic lighting, bump mapping, water physics, etc. The reason these were in question is that Madfinger worked with NVidea to optimize the game for Tegra 3 devices and folks weren't sure that the iOS version would have all the bell and whistles. Apparently Madfinger managed to pull them off without help from Apple engineers . @killercow: that's great news. It would be great if it were this week, since I'm on vacation .
Well, on the iPad, a game run at full retina is at 2048 x 1536 screen resolution. Some games only run at 1024 x 768, same as iPad 2. Others somewhere in between. The retina support increases the amount of displayed pixels but the resolution can be anywhere between the iPad 2 and new iPad resolution, they are just upscaled to fit the iPad 2 screen. In relation to effects, you're talking about real time shadows, lighting, bloom effects, depth of field and numerous other things that basically translate to a more realistic looking game rather than looking like, say, a painted on cartoon. Edit. Whoops, squarezero got there before me.
Hmmm... So if a game says it is HD does that apply to the iPhone or just the iPad? I often find it to be a vague set of circumstances trying to decipher not only WHAT a game is (HD, Partial Retina, Full Retina or non of the above) and the difference between HD AND Retina. For example, Espgaluda II HD is strictly just HD but NOT Retina (this is my take on it) and looks great on my 4S, but I'm assuming if it were both HD AND Retina it would look even better? I also recently downloaded SuperCrossfire (what a gem RadianGames is by the way, holy shit) and I downloaded the HD version. Now, is the HD version of this ALSO Retina? Did I have to download the HD version for my iPhone, or is this for the iPad and just plays on the iPhone without HD? I think you can see where I'm coming from. I've been playing games for 25 years, but iOS and iPhones is a new and exciting world!
