If an average of 60% of iOS users will pirate the game, Madfinger isnt really losing that much choosing to go online-only IF that meant preventing piracy to some extent.
iTunes is digital formats only. Please list 3 better alternatives that cannot be circumvented through jailbreaking or otherwise.
Look, I know, always online is a contentious issue, no doubt. But sometimes it really is the only solution in an effort to prevent people hacking leaderboards and iap. Like all things, hackers will always hack unfortunately, but this method gives much more security and is a much easier fix if a hack for the leaderboard for example surfaces. Its also a much more secure way to prevent iap hacking which will be the main problem. No its not ideal for everybody and that's unfortunate. But as the people opposed to it are actually posting on here in the first place, that means they have internet access so it doesn't exclude them from the game in any way. It simply means they won't be able to play in certain scenarios but while at home, for example, they will. So its not really as big an issue as people consider it. Its either just make it a reskinned first one or add loads of new features with interactive and social elements. I know which I'd prefer to see. I have no plans on playing it the middle of a field with no wifi so it won't matter. And as people are able to post criticising the decision, if you can post, you've online access, what's the problem.
You dont need fast, super duper internet connection.. Anyway, we are aware that some people will not be play DT2 ;( We talked a lot about it and ecide stick with our ambitious plan.. We want to deliver better game then DT2, something unique and entertain player for years...
I'm all for it myself Marek. I know its not ideal for some but the ambition in the project and the amount of effort to change it up a gear and make it so much better is well worth it. Keep up the great work.
There's no such thing as uncrackable iap, Unfortunately. Hacking is something I despise quite strongly. Other than that, we're just going around in circles. I've laid out my case. You've laid out yours. Job done. I'll be able to play it. You won't. In some circumstances, I won't and you will. Them's the breaks. I'm not spending the rest of the day going around in circles when the points are already made. If you can post on here right now, you can still play. End of.
Well I've heard of a cydia app, where it reconnects your phone to a Modded GL server so that when you make it a purchase IN APP it will go through and you'll get the rewards for free.
Using console examples for an iOS game is also pointless and has no actual value or relevance to the platform.
Well if you want to use Diablo 3 as your primary example of failure, Quote: "Before its release, Diablo III broke several presale records and became the most pre-ordered PC game to date on Amazon.com.[94] Activision Blizzard reported that Diablo III had broken the one-day PC sales records, accumulating over 3.5 million sales in the first 24 hours after release and over 6.3 million sales in its first week, including the 1.2 million people who obtained Diablo III through the World of Warcraft annual pass.[95] On its first day, the game amassed 4.7 million players worldwide, an estimate which includes those who obtained the game via the World of Warcraft annual pass.[95] In its second quarterly report, Diablo III was reported to have pushed Activision Blizzard's expectations and as of July 2012, more than 10 million people had played the game.[96] Diablo III remains the fastest selling PC game to date, and also one of the best-selling PC video games. As of the end of 2012, it had sold more than 12 million copies,[7] and as of March 2013, Blizzard stated that Diablo III had around 1 million daily players, with 3 million unique players each month.[97] As of May 2013 Diablo III had been played by 14.5 million unique players, according to Blizzard's released statistics.[98]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diablo_III#Sales It doesn't really stand up in the first place. Oh and focusing on the specific platform on which it will release is not microscopic, its called context and relevancy.
I didn't have to. You said it was a failure. You said Madfinger needed to make money. Diablo 3 may have been criticised online but the numbers speak for themselves. It was not a failure and it made money. It does not back up your argument just because people complained. People complain all the time. The game is still a financial success. Therefore it does not support your argument. That's pretty easy to see.
It had poor sales because it had poor infrastructure. The game was critically acclaimed but reviews were traded down because they did not get the servers up and running right and people couldn't connect That was their own fault and bad planning that led to inadequate infrastructure. Again a different issue. If the servers had been working as they were supposed to be, the story would have been different. Anybody in the industry, even the developer and publisher of said game, has come to the same conclusion. So again, no it doesn't back up your point. It merely shows that if you get the infrastructure wrong, expect failure. Diablo 3 got the infrastructure right and it paid off. That's it for me.
Clash of clans also cannot be played offline and they are doing well.. Anyway, discussion is pointless, there is not chance to change it.. We will have to make two games.. Best
I agree; we've seen nothing for weeks, and I'm the first guy to make a post in over a week. Keep the hype up!
I would say like. But you do know my old title here was President of the Dead Trigger Defense Squad right?
