Yeah. Really. You yourself have repeatedly said you hate Dead Trigger. One key word being hate. Second and third key words being Dead and Trigger. As this thread is about an upcoming game called Dead Trigger 2, what relevance does "arguing about a fairly dull game" have? Have you played Dead Trigger 2? Do you know if it is dull? Or a tech demo? Or anything at all about how the gameplay will be implemented? Or if the developer has listened to previous criticism? Anything about it at all? If the "jokes and good natured arguments" are focused on Dead Trigger, well there's a thread for that. This isn't it. And carrying the "discussion" from that thread to this one has what point exactly? And just in reference to the term "tech demo", nobody even knows yet any thing about the content of the game yet it is constantly referred to in this way, here's an old article that will give you an indication of how it is used in a derogatory way. http://www.hitselfdestruct.com/2008/08/classic-tech-demo.html?m=1 Whether it applies to the first or not, that's really up to each person. Whether it applies to the subject of this thread, no one can say one way or another yet. And yeah, when one is a member of other private forums/groups/organisations and reference is made to this or the other DT thread, it is not done in a positive or humorous way. Of course, this is just an opinion which I'm sure doesn't break any forum rules.
The big guns have arrived just in the nick of time. Wow, so going to that article linked, it says these girls are tech demos. Wow, I like tech demos! Maybe it's not such a derogratory remark after all!
Please. Find a post of mine where I venomously or seriously said that I hated Dead Trigger. About posts being off topic, well, please direct that accusation also to about 5 other members who actually post more in this thread than I do. And you know as well as I that this thread is a world away in terms of civility than the original. I consider that a good thing. About the term tech demo...you know that it comes from the TA review. A huge reason DT has gained the notoriety it has is because of the TA "tech demo" review, which many felt was unjust. This is relevant because many feel that the sequel has little more to offer than a "bigger" or "prettier" game. Most of the assets in the T4 demo are even from DT1. Thus, DT1 is inextricably related to DT2 until we learn that DT2 is significantly different.
My guess of how DT2 is going to be: Cool intro video, nice gameplay and levels......hour in: levels getting boring you only need 30000 more coins for that new gun but you earn very little. The story is told in paragraphs after each level because mad finger used all their money on that big ass zombie which makes no sense to have.....5 hours in you come back to the DT2 thread for laughs because the game got to damn boring In a nutshell
Yeah, he got drunk and cussed everyone out in the comments. We had to go through and delete all of them. It was pretty interesting.
Haha.. LOL reading through this forum really made me laugh reading through all the posts or comments. From jokes or friendly nature debate to off the beat debate.
Just give me COD with better controls and DT graphics and I will be happy. If they are seriously looking for some feedback: -You don't have to buy every damn consumable item. In MC4, for example, you don't buy every damn grenade. You only buy the item itself, and that's all. -Large maps with doors, ladders, traps, etc. -It needs more melee weapons. -CO-OP. -Different zombies, but for God's sake, with low HP!!!!
That was in relation to Samaurai 2 (which was called a tech demo in the review as well), not Dead Trigger. I don't remember any reference to him being drunk at the time so I don't know if that's correct or not or if it can be backed up in any way. Pretty interesting that you would choose to reference that particular point though.
Ah yes, it was Samurai II that I was thinking of, thanks. Even stranger considering that was an incredibly positive review. The reference to him drinking was by his own admission to explain his behavior for acting the way he did. I guess we all get drunk and do stupid things sometimes.
http://toucharcade.com/2010/10/21/samurai-ii-vengeance-a-great-looking-cell-shaded-bloodbath/ You can still get some juicy parts. The dev sure seemed upset about TA comparing Samurai 2 with a tech demo. I can't imagine how he took the Dead trigger review. It's a shame that the original comment got remove though, reading that would be... Priceleless.
Ah, I see. I was unaware of that part. Clearer now so thanks. Alcohol really does like to mess with heads.
I think it's awesome how he replied to the Samurai 2 review. Sure, the review doesn't have to be kiss-ass, but neither does the developer has to post kiss-ass comments all around. He spoke his mind, he could just be quiet, he could post as an anonymous user, but he didn't. It shows that the dev has some personality and I respect that (even if he was drunk). Now, if they just shove some of that personality into their games...
I think this is the key point. People seem to think we have something against Madfinger but we definitely don't, despite any shenanigans that might have happened in the past. But from our standpoint - and it's not just one person but pretty much all of our staff has agreed - their games are INCREDIBLY pretty but also shallow and repetitive. There's not a lot you can do if a game isn't fun no matter how great the visuals or production values are. That said, if Dead Trigger 2 comes out and is completely awesome, then we will have no problem giving it its due. Another thing I should point out is we never called Samurai II a tech demo in our review. Madfinger is the one who started that in the comments. We compared the visuals in Samurai II to Epic Citadel which had just come out at about the same time, and was explicitly made as a tech demo (in the proper sense of the term and everything) for the Unreal Engine on mobile. Specifically we said "While Samurai II: Vengeance isn't going to knock Epic Citadel off its throne of having the most jaw-dropping graphics available on the platform, this is an actual game, and is a must-have if you're looking for another way to show off the Retina Display." I added the emphasis because I think it's funny we called it the exact opposite of just a tech demo but somehow that stigma has still stuck with us. As for Dead Trigger... yeah we totally called it a tech demo in THAT review, but that's because we actually felt that way. Ahhhh, memories.
