Exactly. With iOs being the "Casual King" of ALL gaming, even the $.99 market is cutthroat now, but it's where it's at. Tiny Wings was a good example of that rocketing right to the top of the charts. I don't want to take this thread off topic though. If the $.99 brigade hasn't purchased Dead Space for the awesome of $4.99 yet, then they deserve to miss out on this incredible product by EA. All this hype is making me want to go pass it a 3rd time... It's that damn good and I can't name another iOs game that has made me pass it so many times... Ok I can name one: Dungeon Hunter 2.
Price and quantity of course always defines where the equilibrium is, but the AppStore is so unstable and fluctuates in a way we've never seen before that the point of equilibrium is completely different for every single game. The way top charts are calculated also plays a big part in all of this. Visibility makes for a successful game in this market, but an app can drop 100 ranks in an hour due to Apple's formula for calculating the top charts.
Dead Space still gives the best experience I've ever had from any iOS games I ever played. It's just really, really immersive and the atmosphere, controls, sound fx, voice, everything feels really tight and well-crafted. Not just a clumsy port or lazy effort with stupid virtual dpad. It's probably not 30-hour long, but I'd rather spend 5 hours playing this than 30 hours playing Zenonia. How I wish there are more games like this..
