I don't know how long the game is. The replay value is probably in the fact that if you do manage to I guess beat or max out one character, you have a second one to play now. Or switch back and forth. As for RPG elements, you have stats and book skill slots that increase as you level up. You'll gain PP for completing missions as well as from Gamecenter achievements. Not sure about the zombie kills though it seems to keep a count and also record your Mad Zombie takedown stats. You also have an inventory you can accumulate weapons and food into. It's not the best game on the store, but it's one of those I end up wondering why I played it as long as I do when I load it. So, I must like it if I didn't stop and quit. Buy it when it's on sale, pass on it if it goes back to full price...until the next sale. That's my recommendation anyway.
Damn! Don't boot this on iOS 4.3b3 - crashes to a black screen when I try to start a new game and requires me to hard reboot w/ home+sleep buttons.
Yeah, add me to the pile of people that think the game is sort of a mess... but can't stop playing it. I'm completely addicted to the poppy mall music in some of the areas, I like the look of the mall, and the limited game play somehow doesn't let me go. It's nowhere near Dead Rising on the consoles, but doesn't seem to be trying to be. I thought it was well worth it for $1.99, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for $0.99.
Still buy it, just know you might not be able to play until a solid release of 4.3 or a patch to the game...
Took a little break from Starfront today to continue my rush through playing my hundreds of untouched games. Decided to check this one out since it's pretty heavy on memory. There's really not much to say. It's just terrible. I picked it up since I've been a pretty big fan of Capcom Mobile unlike many people. Phoenix Wright and SFIV are definitely in my top 10 of all time for iOS games. DMC4 and RE4 and Maxplosion weren't too shabby either. So, yeah..tried this out for 15 minutes, which honestly was more than this game deserved. Don't want to go into too many details since I generally leave impressions only for the games I liked after completing them, but I'm trying to stick with my impression leaving for every game I've finished/deleted. In any case, I'd pass on this no matter how much you like killing zombies. There's a better fix for your zombie-killing wants than DR elsewhere Final Rating (all things considered excluding price): 2 stars out of five.
It's honestly not worth it for a dollar either lol..or the space that it takes up which is nearly 600 mb.
600mb?! Good thing I read your post mate! I was just about to click on the buy button. At 600mb I'm gonna have to delete some of me games. Can't have that. And all the reviews so far has been quiet disconcerting to say the least, i.e.: player head disappears from time-to-time? No thanks!
i Completely disagree, for me this is by far the best zombie killing game on the app store, and even possibly one of the most fun games on the app store. It is flawed, ugly, and filled with minor glitches, but it has tons of personality and fun appeal, and ironically life; its the polar opposite of gamelofts more recent hyper polished, but soulless and boring games. I aknowlwdge, lots will disagree, and I accept that, so it is actually good you are posting your opinion; but I think this game will appeal to some people, and for 2$ I hope those people do pick it up. I can't explain why I am still having fun with this game, but I am, and I am very glad I saw the sale and impulses it.
Very fair man, I don't want to assert that what I wrote is anything but my opinion. I just posted what I thought since I've honestly never been so disgusted by a game. I grabbed this when it was $6.99 many months ago and have only got to it now, and boy was I taken aback to think I've been holding 600mb of space for this game for months on my iPod. But yeah, it's just opinion. If I want to kill zombies, COD:Z is my fix. Yeah, Gameloft doesn't actually have any good games besides their 2 excellent FPS sequels, DH2, and Starfront. However, they do bring what iOS gamers are asking for so it's just fine. I didn't quite find any of the personality or appeal that you were talking about in DR though. It just felt like too much of a chore to play.
