Well, I finally got to play it, and I find it better than on PC. The aiming is a lot better here, and the fact that David stops in mid air to launch the attack is a very nice touch. I agree with syntheticvoid about the placement of the arrows, but the rest is tight. I wondered and kill all bosses on easy (it really is easy) and I like a lot the Survival endless. It just needs GameCenter... I like how the name of the Colossus reflects its emotions, the minimalist art gives them a life of their own, and that they can overwhelm you if you are not careful. Now for the true difficulty
The more I play the stages on Very difficulty - the more it feels like THIS is the way the developers meant for the game to be played. =oP Finally got through Lies - now working on Brood! =oD
Turn off anti-aliasing in the config menu. The crashing should stop and the game will run smooth. It just won't be quite as pretty to look at. Only problem is that you'll have to turn off that setting again every time you start the app.
I'm sincerely sorry about the iPad mini and older iDevice bugs. I don't mean to jip people out of their dollars; update ASAP to fix this! Hope you guys can forgive me.
Wow just picked this up and played the first level on very and already I can see the shadow of the collosus influence, I'm playing on iPad and I like the controls, All round for the measly sum of 69p this is a bargain.
I want ios 7 joystick support somehow, but in the meantime, having fun with this on the ipad! Monkey man!
Ok I just found and tried the tilt option and is it me or is it the wrong way round??? Left tilt takes you right and visa versa.....
This is a weird bug we've found and will fix with the upcoming update. Depends on which way you hold the device on start-up. I think for now a way to fix it is to restart the app holding it the other way and turn the option on then. Let me know if this works for you. Good luck, and have fun!
@fermenter, what kind of additions/fixes do you have in mind for an update(s)? I think your game is awesome and as you say in your app description, it is deeply personal and dare I say; original. I want to leave a five star review on the AppStore but without GameCenter or the future possibility of it I can only rate four stars. Richard
Wow game centre is so important you'd remove a star for not having it? Personally I don't care if a game has game centre or not as I rarely ever look at it.
I'm playing primarily on iPad Air, and I find the controls to be quite nice, albeit spread out. Also, will the stretching out be fixed along with the non-retina iPad issues?
Well it's not just GameCenter, also an inverted tilt option. It would actually only drop 1/2 a star... I just get way more replay from a game that has achievements and leaderboards. It's not a requirement, per se, but if one game doesn't have it and a similar game in the genre has it I almost always go with the one that does first. But in this case I bought straight away.
Worth a buck currently Game is ok. Worth a dollar, but probably not much more. Reminds me of Flywrench, which was also a good game. However, comparisons to SotC are arbitrary. This game is nothing like SotC, except that the goal is to kill bosses (lol). Half of the bosses aren't even that big. There is no exploration whatsoever. It's an arena battler, plain and simple, and there are only ten levels, each with two difficulties (the harder difficulty just starts you out with 1 hp instead of the normal 7 hp. Honestly, an exploration mode where you find the bosses and could also find other cool stuff would be a welcome addition and would make the difference to this game. As you find each boss you could unlock that boss in the portal room. However, difficulty shouldn't be based on 1 hp versus 7 hp, but should be more dynamic, with bosses providing extra stuff they throw at you - make it more interesting. If you are looking for a SotC-type game for the iPad, try Aquaria. Lots of exploration, more of a Metroidvania-style with relatively large-ish bosses, although generally those bosses are more Castlevania than SotC. Graphics and music are pretty awesome too. Don't get me wrong - David is a solid app, worth a buck to play through. Sadly it doesn't run on my iPhone 4S - slow as molasses. Don't know why. My iPhone plays huge 3D games just fine, but David is so slow, my iPhone actually freezes up.
Try going into settings and turning antialiasing off. Sin is quite vicious. I don't anticipate beating that on very hard for a while
I think changing the jump button to a hold to go up button would be a major improvement to this game. Also if the area in which you could touch to power up your shot was larger too. The final level is extremely hard to power up your shots and had caused a lot of unneccessary deaths and frustration.
