I made it up lol. I talk nonsense most of the time. # I think the proper phrase is swear like a trooper. Or a pissed sailer. (Pissed as in drunk, not angry)
One thing that always catches my eye when I look at games are praises and awards from the media. I see that you have done this but maybe you could jazz it up a bit. Maybe add some of the really high ratings you've gotten from ios or PC. Did you win any awards yet with this? Also mention that it was an App Store featured game. I think people like that. TA community... Do you think he should add that it got 4 stars in the description? Four is good but I am not sure if it's worth noting. Btw, it should have gotten a better score.
Wow, that's a good one! I think I might steal that one from you. Lol. I am mostly nonsense too as you probably already know. I have not forgotten about all of the S4 things to share with you. I will definitely get back to you about all that.
Let's see... 9/10 from DarkZero 4.5/5 from MacLife 8/10 from Eurogamer 4/5 from Toucharcade Etc., There are at least two dozen positive reviews in the press kit http://www.fermentergames.com/press-david/ Yes, I think adding the best scores and quotes to the App Store page could help
Hmmn! That's probably a good idea. I've done it a little bit, but I haven't dressed it up very pretty. Perhaps I should've done it earlier too. Personally, when I shop for apps, I try to not read / be swayed by any reviews, so maybe I didn't include much critical input in the description. But perhaps I should brag!
You definitely should brag, I mean show the acclaim. When I see a bunch of praise from the media at the top it really catches my eye. It's definitely a way to distinguish your great game from the complete crap that's on the App Store. Also mentioning your game was in the top whatever in x amount of countries is also good. It just has to be impressive. I wouldn't put "top 150 paid game in 2 countries". Since you have all of that great press scores I would only mention it if you were in the top 10 in a country. BTW, how far up the charts did it go around the world?
Hmmn, well unfortunately I just found App Annie yesterday. Looks like I've been in the Top 10 Arcade game in 7 countries. That seems cool enough to share, yeah? As a super quiet guy normally, it's tough for me to brag. In this case though, I'm going to have to learn.
1. No. Doesn't need it. I agree with you with the learning and discovery. It is part of the game (kike it use to be in good old games!) 2. Why not. I have tries the tilt mode and have not been convince by it. I rather have the button for quick change of direction 3. Maybe. I must admit. I didn't get what they were... 4. Yes please! 5. Ok 6. Maybe. Ron't really see how it would work but I am sure you will surprise me! 7. Maybe, but the control are so much part of the game that I wouldn't try different styles. 8. Yes please! (And no, I am still looking for the basketball level and the two other hats...) 9. Ok 10. YES YES YES!!!
Yay! Feedback! Thanks Sapro. It's good to get some outside opinions on this. EDIT: to clarify, he's talking about this post: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=3196813&postcount=131
PG, seriously? Sigh... No, the jumping is nothing like Flappy Bird. Nothing about the game is remotely close to being anything like Flappy Bird. I don't hate Flappy Bird, but I certainly hate this trend of ridiculous comparisons.
Yeah, not a fan of the Flappy Bird comparisons, or comparisons at all really. (The jumping is slightly similar, I suppose, but then again, ALL jumping is similar to Flappy Bird.) I almost didn't include the Angry Birds / SOTC / Limbo tidbit in the David description. I just think that leads to weird expectations. Very often, I have the best experiences with games/movies/art if I go into it with NO expectations/comparisons. Just my opinion though. Idk if other people feel the same.
Quick update and request for advice So becuase of this article: http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/games/angespielt-david-von-fermenter-games-fuer-ios-pc-und-mac-a-965625.html I kinda blew up in Germany over the past few days. #1 Arcade game in the German app charts for a while. Pretty cool! Besides that so, David is kinda falling off the charts. I might be a bit late for this, but I'm thinking about some different paid advertisements (banners/etc) on various websites. It's pretty expensive though, and I don't know how worth it it would be. Does anyone have any experience with this or just general advice when it comes to advertising? Thanks for the help, y'all.
Suggestions! Maybe post a banner here on Toucharcade or on Pocketgamer! Also maybe add some more levels to the game so that should get more people to buy the game!
Well, I've got a few ideas for enemies that are halfway done, and game center is pretty much figured out. Progress progress! I'm definitely looking for more suggestions as far as new enemies go. Ideas, anyone? It's nice to finally work on something else for a change though, whew! Balancing multiple projects is a bit tricky, but it keep me from going crazy only working on one thing all day. That being said, be on the lookout for something different soon!
Unfortunately, no. :'( A few bad ratings by a few players who didn't understand the point of the game, and I've dropped off the charts big time. Bummer!
