I got it, and I'm playing it now. It's pretty good. Think I'm going to like it. Playing it on a iPad mini 2, and the text isn't bad at all. For the text, I was expecting the worse I guess.
What I'm really loving about this is that it's got that same kind of turn based mechanics and party system as final fantasy games but with out the throw away 20 hours of story in between. This one you can just fire up and get into a TBS battle where final fantasy you need to watch an hour of "small boy saves world from bad man" story development, before getting into any action. And if you want any actual intellectually demanding battle, well that's a good 3 hours into any FF. Sorry to FF fans, but I know you get what I mean. This game darkest dungeon is similar by mechanic but cuts down on the BS.
Did you play this in early access? It wasnt as fun of a game. It felt like actually degrading work. Even now on Radiant mode you can actually die on the tutorial mission. This game is awesome.
I freaking love this game since I bought it on pc, and for this price it was easy to double dip. I got a question tho, does anyone know how to import my pc save to my ipad? I havnt been able to figure this out and i cant find my save file on my macbook air. Does anyone have any idea how this is done and where is it located? I would really appreciate the help!
STEAM–MACBOOK–IPAD The following excerpt is from a Reddit post by one of the developers. Note the following, which I discovered through trial and error: the above instructions worked when I dragged only the "profile_0" folder from my Mac to the newly-created Apps/DarkestDungeon Dropbox folder. You will find the "profile_0" folder nested within the "remote" folder. Hope this helps (and isn't too late).
Have to be the guy and say I don't. Some people want the story lmao, that's actually what a log of final fantasy fans want.
You actually just confirmed that you do get what I mean "lmao". You acknowledge that there's heaps of story in FF. That was my point. Maybe I shouldn't call it BS, if that hits a sore spot for you. But the point remains, FF has heaps of story, sometimes too much, before you can even get down to some really turn based tactics. DD jumps straight to it. You can't argue with that. Are you really "lmao" by the way? Ps I'm actually planning on doing a playthrough of FF9 soon. other FF's I have played fair amounts of.
Question: when I run low on gold, what can I do? Sell stuffs? Statement: this is not a game about story, it is about atmosphere, it is about dealing with crisis and dreaded situation, this is great. Suggestion: if anyone wants a RPG about stories and characters, there are a lot of JRPG out there.
If you run low on gold, throw together a party from the stage coach and go into a dungeon without provisions. Loot everything you can and then run. You can try to sell trinkets as well, but I find this a much easier way to make a bunch of gold quickly, and as a bonus you can rest your core team for a bit without any risk to them. Honestly, once you find a group or two of heroes you like, everyone else becomes expendable. I mostly agree; the story is enough to keep me interested, but the oppressive atmosphere and the feeling of despair and helplessness as your heroes succumb to the dungeons is the real meat of this game, and what keeps me coming back.
This is golden. I was coming to the realisation but this solidifies it, and really it's a core mechanic of the game.
Enlightened: wow! Now I know why it is called the "core team"! Thank you! Question: also, how do I "level up"? I notice the level-up mechanism does not share with most other RPG out there. Conclusion: this game is tough, may be even too dry and dark for some; it is like FTL, but more fun in certain (very) twisted way.
1. The port is simply terrible- font size is uncomfortable, you don't know if holding a button will show a description or trigger it unwantingly, the game doesn't fill the entire iPad screen, etc. It just all feels very rushed and not at all fun to tinker with the UI. (I'm using an iPad Pro 10.5) 2. The tutorial is extremely lacking as well. And due to the poor port, I really have a hard time learning on my own what everything means and how the systems work together. My suggestion to new players - wait and see if this gets improved with updates. As is, I really can't recommend it. Or just play it in PC.
As far as I can tell, levels, the numbers next to the heroes, only affect the debuff resistance of the hero, increasing everything by 10%. However, it does unlock the ability to increase a heroes armor or weapon to the same level, as well as increase skills to the same level. It's more of an overall level cap for the hero, although gaining that extra bit of resistance is quite beneficial as well.
Just a heads up that jacking up the gamma also inproves the legibility of all the stats panels. It really should have been set to 10 by default for the iPad version imo.
As long as it can turn one of my team members into a giant green smashing machine... This is some sacrifice I am willing to make.
This is not my experience, for me fonts seem fine and legible, I'm having fun learning certain mechanics through exploration (although have watched a play through on YouTube) and after 5 mins I've got hold for tooltips vs activate button down. I'm a new player and I would say buy a brilliant game and have some fun Not saying you're view is wrong, but giving another view on the same app experience.
Got this yesterday, and it's been the only game i've been playing since. This is hard to put down, but the game does channel a bit of the stress damage onto the player. "Atmospheric" at its best.
I've started removing my heroes names completely and naming them after what team they're best in (for example team 1 or A), what they do best (eg, DMG, Stun, heal etc), and what position they are best in (eg 1 2 3 4). I find that helps when looking for the next group to take out. There's just way to many things to consider and this is my brief summary note to use for each.
