I've certainly enjoyed what I've played of it so far. Just be ready for getting neck deep in reviewing stats and comparing. I found it enjoyable, and yeh tense like everyone says. Though as a first timer it will be somewhat overwhelming. The game doesn't quite give you enough insight and leaves a fair amount of what's happening under the bonnet to be worked out by yourself which is fair enough but some things such as dice rolls (for instance speed number plus 8 sided dice roll determines the order everyone acts in, which I don't believe is mentioned in the game), you couldn't exactly work this out by yourself really. So there's plenty of opportunity to dive into some guides and how too's. I found this how to for combat really quite useful explaining how stats work: https://youtu.be/5dA1d7KNSDo And that's just the combat, it doesn't even cover what to do in town or camping. So yeh, there's a lot to sink ones teeth in to, and it all revolves around menus and stats. Brings me back to my original statements, which was; this would be a far stretch to get it on iPhone satisfactorily, as I have experienced. As much as I want to see it released there.
Thanks Talbs. i for one appreciate your findings, it means if we want an iphone version it means extra work for them to rescale fonts etc BUT: the Vita screen is slightly smaller than the iphone plus, and they had a vita version so im not saying it is impossible, not by a long shot! Anyone coming fresh in this game, and doesnt want to absolutely drown in how to why and what, i recommend you read/skim through a guide such as https://www.reddit.com/r/darkestdungeon/comments/5kt81r/comprehensive_new_player_guide_to_darkest_dungeon/
Ok. Thanks for the info. I have three games I'm ready to get including this one, and they total 2.5-3 gigs. I have half the space I need, I have to figure what games to delete to make more room.
OK completed the 4 tutorial missions and going into darkest dungeon... Not that difficult as what others have said... It's alright. Just need to bring the right provisions with u.
Loving this game so far. The only thing I hope can be improved is that sometimes I want to check what an item does and I end up using it instead. Maybe a 2 click system where you click once to see what it does and click again to use. Or maybe I just have fat fingers #
If this is an overall comment about the game then I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or serious. You should have this game beat within the next half hour then.
Nah it's true, and others have expressed the same thoughts. The UI response is random all over. Some hold downs, some simple taps, some hold-pickup-drag-drop. Plenty of room for error. You definitely need to remember the UI response tasks while in fights.
Starting with the very first thing you do- pick the difficulty level for you game slot. I bungled that the first time just trying to read their descriptions.
For those struggling with having your finger getting in the way, the Apple pen works wonderfully, almost forgot about it, really is essential here
I finally killed the Necromancer for the first time, after he killed several brave adventurers. What a game. Best TBS RPG in years, even not factoring the outstanding presentation and narrative. GLORIOUS, I'm still sweating.
Really pathetic that people actually think this. You can download .ipa files of apps that you've bought using iTunes, then with a jailbroken phone you can force-install the apps you've legally and lawfully purchased and downloaded onto a device that otherwise wouldn't be able to run it. Of course it's not going to be ideal, but if you really really want to then you can. I've been playing Shadowrun Dragonfall and Dungeon of the Endless on my iPhone 6s like that for ages. And yes I bought those apps, I originally got them for my iPad before seeing if they would work on my phone. For anyone else who's curious, this is what it looks like forcing the game to run on an iPhone 6s: Oh yeah, it's not pretty. And it's got this weird black boarder which means you're not getting the full resolution. Personally I think they could make an iPhone version if they were willing to shuffle around the UI, maybe make some UI elements into panels that open and close, but I totally understand that might not be financially feasible for a port of a PC game. I'm just sayin, there was a Vita port of the game and that screen is way smaller than an iPad mini. But if you have a Plus size phone or you're willing to deal with this kind of resolution, it's totally doable. Seems to run just fine. I've got an active fine-point stylus I use for doing art with my iPad so that helps with the smaller buttons and such.
well, 2 days later and they haven't even seen my fb message about iphone version. Seriously considering buying it and jailbreaking my 6splus just for this game. Have it already on Ps4/vita for 25eu, but the complicated controls and the nonportaility would more than justify the cost of 5 more eu to have it on iphone. Unfortunately i know almost next to nothing for jb/ how to install ipad games on iphone etc. Well, this and FTL - if i jb, i will do it for the right reasons
Good luck with that :-/ Happens every time there is an iPad-only release. Mods should create separate threads for those concerns much like they do when monetizing discussions take over a thread.
It's either price or why is there no iPhone release. I'm really liking Darkest Dungeon. I do think they need to rework tap and long touch, as well as get indicators for when there is more info. Overall though, it's grabbing me a lot harder on iOS than it did on the computer.
