Bought the game last saturday. The game itself is great, but the UI, come on, that's quite half assed for the mobile port of a great game.
Not sure if this has already been posted in this thread, but here's a devs' comment on reddit: I guess this was also reflected in the lower price for the iOS version as well.
Good quote, not seen that from the devs. I say good decision (coming from working in software development). Development usually involves difficult decisions and often concessions (on initial builds) - perfect software out the gate needs a perfect storm of conditions and even then, annoys a bunch of naysayers who want it to be 'just so'... I'm happy to have the game to play on my iOS device without every f@**ing aspect being totally 100% perfect.
The price difference between iOS and other platforms shouldn't be overlooked, either. Sure, this market expects it, because this market is cheap and fickle. But it is still a serious discount for the same game.
Great game. My only issue is with the Dropbox import and export. Export works fine, but I’m unable to import these saves. Have I missed something? Overall this game, on the iPad, is brilliant. This will be on my machine forever. Can’t get enough of it.
This game is great! I also had some problems with dropbox, i was able to import my pc save to my ipad and then i exported my ipad save file to my pc, but when i tried to play my ipad save back on my ipad, all of my files where erased. Anyone knows what couldve happened? Aside from that, i cant stop playing!
Have you checked your Dropbox folder? My saves are in app/darkest dungeon folder, just can't import go ipad. Maybe they should be in the root directory, might try that 'cos they don't load from where they are at. Oops, sorry about the double post#
I've tried everything. Even wiped my iPad and set it up as new. So weird. I reached out to Red Hook, we'll see what they say.
Cheap and fickle? Price is ultimately driven by supply and demand, and with mobile, the supply is exponentially larger than any other electronic entertainment platform.
It is not meant to play the same way than other games. You should expect to lose some adventurers. Just keep recruiting more of them and throw the ones who get too many afflictions. Eventually you'll manage to upgrade the town and get a few good adventurers.
For 1) when you hover on skills, it should tell you on which slots your character needs to be in order to be able to use the skill. Some skills cannot be used on the front for example. For 2), get a vestal or occultist to get heals.
Do the stages scale to your roster's level? If... say, my high level chars died off, will the game adjust the stages' difficulty? (If not, then it will be pretty hard) And, there's a level-6 stage right at the beginning.... is that the final stage? Or are there more after that?
Im only about 2 hours in, but at that point, each of the locations unlocked will have missions of varying difficulty and length. I assume this trend will be available ALL THE TIME because the game is designed to have you start out new characters all the time.
No. As you progress (I'm 12 hours in) and level up you'll see new dungeons types (higher difficulty) appearing. Actually, you can't even bring high level chars on level 1 dungeons...because the chars actually refuse to do so (too easy!!!!). Same for bringing level 1 chars to high level dungeons (like the one you mentioned, the darkest dungeon). If some of your beloved high level chars die (and be sure of it, they will) you'll just take lower level chars to lower level dungeons or by that time you will have upgraded the caravan so high level chars will come to he hamlet (instead of level 0 chars as in the beginning). Also, and super important, notice that special dungeons will appear in the various location after you completed some 'normal' exploration dungeons in that zone, usually they have a boss you must defeat to progress the story (you can see them in the quest log, with everything you need to do before 'unlocking' the Darkest Dungeon). Bosses are unique and super tricky so it's not unusual be required several runs for the boss to discover all his powers. But when they go down.....
Follow up. Just lost a full level 4 party against a new monster I never encountered before. Not a boss...a 70 HP crab like monster that inflicts MASSIVE, like....MASSIVE....bleeding damage. I tried everything to survive, cursing myself for not opting out the room before...AS I SHOULD HAVE because I was short on everything. So brutal. So awesome.
Thanks Another question: What is that vertical bar in the character icon ... inberween your level and the stress bar?
Not sure if I'm understanding you right but I guess you mean the golden '1' tick. If it's there, it means that character/monster have yet to take their turn. At the start of a round, everyone gets a golden '1'...then they go away as soon as they have completed their turn action. So you can known which are the monsters that have yet to take action in that particular round. Hope it helps!
