Who called it garbage? Can you link to that post or review where we said the game was garbage? Well... TouchArcade is an editorial site ran by me and my team of writers so, yeah, we post about games that we think are fun.
I'm still waiting to try the game. Been in d/l limbo for an eternity. It's bar is ever so slowly progressing. But I've been successful in avoidance of spoilers Yay me!
Heheh, sorry about that, Square. Still haven't downloaded so figured "hey, why not troll the sites"... Haha. @Hodapp, yikes I may have misquoted you there and I don't feel like scrolling through your front page so I'll persist that you referred to it as beautiful garbage/trash/cookie monster. My previous point still stands.
I am interested in this game but have a concern. From the videos I have watched, every fight ends in melee. Are there times when you can kill the monster from a distance?
According to Phosphor game studios http://www.phosphorgames.com/diaries/darkMeadowCrossbow.php you can actually complete the game using only ranged attacks
Awesome frontpage review of the game. Loving this new writer. Mentions the bad, but actually hits all the good spots as well. Good read. Game of the week hopefully unless NBA 2k11 takes it instead.
Perfect, thanks for the link that is exactly what I was looking for. As for the review, Colette is a very skilled writer, nice to have her aboard.
It works like any RPG: if you can get in enough damage with your ranged weapon, you'll kill the monster from a distance. Right now I'm sporting a crossbow called The Heartseeker, which has taken out a number of creatures with a couple of headshots.
Throughout their history, the progression of video games (and the platforms they appear on) has commonly been measured and defined by the graphics they're able to offer. The simple reason for that being, that for the masses, graphical quality is easy to judge, and therefore, is easy to package and market. Gameplay quality is, far less so. Your view of where the iOS has been and where it is going, appears to be firmly rooted in these long-standing graphical standards. Not everyone's is. Just letting you know.
Yes. There are various crossbows - heavy and light. Heavy shoot higher and further, light cannot hit the head of a tall monster.
I'm really liking the game. There are a couple nitpicks: Combat feels like a boxing match. It's easy to get lost, as there isn't a clear direction to where I've been and where I'm going. Overall, it's quite engrossing. It seems like the game is was hoping Dreamscape would be. I'm gonna definitely see this one through. Dark Meadow serenades with the mysterious siren song of atmospheric delight.
yeah, a mini map of sorts which progressively records the rooms/corridors/places you have already been to as you explore the hospital will help. I get so disoriented after each battle!
Anyway, the game looks pretty normal to me. Impressions? If it's bigger as in more battles, I may get it.
To bite or not to bite...that is here the question. Have so much to play I can easily wait for a price drop...but then, great developers need support.
I love this game. There's this point that I'm up to that... I just don't want to continue anymore. Story elements come together so well that it's just... I literally put my phone down and stopped to think. To continue is wrong... Is the only way to win not to play any further? THAT is the example of brilliant storytelling.
+1 (Y) yah is there anyway to win without finishing the game cause really am gonna be sad if i finished this awesome game really best game of 2011
Can't wait to play the game once I get some time tomorrow. Awesome impressions so far and a great review from TA. Very excited.
Yeah i saw that one too and couldn't pull it off. It never gave me the message to say that i've completed it so i'm guessing it's not working
