We discussed a few different implementations and that one sounds the most promising and we'll try that first- great feedback everyone and thanks so much!
Just want to help make a superb game damn near perfect! I'd like to say congratulations to everyone at Phosphor Games for Dark Meadow; as a big fan of story-driven survival horror (ie Bioshock) I am loving this game! Very rare to find such good writing and storytelling on iOS, especially with such good graphics, sound & gameplay!
I would really like to see an update adding the possibility to change the language of the game (texts). The German translation is really bad. Honestly, it is a nice idea to add a lot of languages to a game, but it should be ensured that the translation is at least ok. Of course this is not about the graphics or gameplay itself, but I really hope that the other languages beside English are not that messed up as well. Otherwise I fear that a lot of people will give the game bad ratings, just due to the translation of the game into foreign languages. I also hope that the devs did not pay a company or anyone at all for those translations. I'll switch my iPad to English and hope I can enjoy the game then
The game is truly impressive. I'm excited that the dev is on board with changing the victory screen, and also hope that a save system can be implemented. Also, while the graphics are amazing, that really is just icing on the cake. The story, immersion, voice acting, atmosphere, etc. are what's getting my attention the most. Some exciting times for iOS gaming.
The save stuff might take a longer as it can potentially break stuff, but we are looking into it. In the meantime, there are a couple of shortcuts if you bypass exploring- for floor 1 there is a shortcut to the witch / stairs if you make a straightaway down the west corridor to the entrance- you can pretty much get there in under 3 encounters. http://thedarkmeadowgame.com/instructions/#Map There is also a "warp" towards the end of the game to find ...
And we are looking into the bad German translation! Had no idea until it was mentioned ... yes it was professionally translated ...
I like the combat system, its not as complete as IB but the crossbow is there to help you remove enemies before they even get near, but the more i play the more i understand why some want a monster-less mode, the narration, exploration and the atmosphere are all fantastic, want to see the whole story without the combat - i think this would make a great mode
I found it, I found it! It confused me though, because all it said was "excellent" and I was somewhere else. :S Btw, I quite like coming back from the very start every time you quit. It creates a sense of permanence - as in, if you leave your character gets his face chewed off in the meantime.
I have bought the game and if you look for somebody to playtest any further, please drop me a line. Thanks.
>>the more i play the more i understand why some want a monster-less mode<< Great suggestion! We have been toying with the idea of doing something almost like a "hidden object" mode, but this would be further down the road ...
Interesting game so far. I'm currently only level 4, about 25 minutes in, and not really sure what to think yet. The storyline and visuals are top notch along with the environment. Not sure about everything else. It feels a lot like a "hidden object/escape the room" game, which I'm guessing it's supposed to be. Never been a fan of any of those sadly. Will come back with more impressions after I've played more.
Just wanted to add my praise to the pile, this game is a lot of fun and easily worth the purchase price. I have been enjoying the entire game experience and I haven't had a crash yet after an hour straight game.
I'd like to see a safe room restore point implemented. Rather than start back at square one, when restarting, have the game autosave and return you in the closest safe room to when you last quit the game. That'd be swell.
