ONLY 1 HOUR CONTENT!? OMG this is the worst game content wise I've ever played (and payed for). And hello? Intriguing story? More like your Cold War underground lab featuring some random experiment done by someone with a blood fetish. I just defeated the boss without taking any damage because it's attack pattern is so damn predictable and rigid. Needless to say, it wasn't particularily fun either. It did however, demanded more attention than shooting at some animated object that were littered throughout the game. Even though the controls are fixed, this game still remains to be a slow, conceptually unrealized and monotonous Castle/Metroidvania wanna be (too crap to even be called a clone).
I don't know how you found only one hour worth of content in there, I've already been playing for longer...
Because I defeated the boss and the game told me it was 'to be continued'? My save file tells me that I've played for 1 hour.
Yeah! That's correct! I need to look on the bright side - since now I've finished and deleted the game, I will no longer be enticed to buy any IAP for the game! I believe I just saved myself a few dollars
The controls are much better, would prefer not to see the 'circle' for when i press left/right/up or down but thats not a huge issue. But far better controls Perhaps i take my time with games but i've had a lot of enjoyment with this one so far, if people just rush through every single level i'm sure they will complete it obviously very quickly. Would love to see a sequel or more levels though (I havent reached the end) just because the game 'engine' i think now is excellent, would love to see a Castlevania type game using this engine. I'm really enjoying this, nice little game with retro style graphics/gameplay
Well, the new controls duck too easily ... But that is nit even the real issue. Now that controls are ok ... I am really hating silly enemies, the barely move and also the are come back from the death and d again the very same as before. And bosses ..l just duck and they loose. After finishing three stages I am utterly bored.
I enjoyed the game (even pre- the new controls), but I explored the whole game in an hour. I did go through it twice, so $2 isn't such a bad deal for 2 hours of gameplay, but I really wish there was more to it. Needs more interesting enemies to fight, more abilities (double jump), and more of everything. I did not try the 3D aspect. Maybe it the dev adds more content I'll give it another go.
This is like a hidden gem is there any more games out like this? I have been looking all over for a castlevania type game.
Yeah, a hidden gem that's only an hour long. Anyway, better Castlevania style games would be Elemental Rage, Shantae, Aquaria, Emberwind, Robot Wants Kitty, Perfect Cell (not really that Castlevania-like), ghost Ninja Zombie Beatdown.
Say, does anyone remember Phoenix Spirit? That was a nice little 2D adventure game. Shorter than Dark Incursion, though.
Ha... Phoenix Spirit took me about 3 hours... Dark Incursion less than 1... Can't believe I put $3 into this...
Hello everyone! I guess the best way to start this is to introduce myself. My name is Randy and I'm the lead artist and designer of Dark Incursion. I just wanted to stop by and thank everyone who bought the game. It means a lot to me so thank you very, very much. I also wanted to show off some of the new content that is being made for the game. The story was left off at a "to be continued" point that I know most feel was kind of short. But worry not as I'm hard at work making new enemies, locations and wrapping up the complete story. The following screens are two areas that follow right after the game left off. Once again I would like to thank those that bought the game and to those that gave feedback. I look forward to being able to show more off in the future. ^_^
welcome to the forum... And sorry for my pretty rude post before... I've been playing, and re-playing what gameplay there is, and feel like $3 is a great price for the game now. So long as you don't go all Grokion on us and leave us hanging, saying that 'more is coming' for months and months and then just disappear... should be a FANTASTIC game! =oP BTW - screens look great!
I went through it twice and quite enjoyed what's there...hopefully the 'full' game will be released relatively soon. Love the graphics and atmosphere, and I think the gameplay is fun (even with the predictable enemies).
I'm so glad that people have been able to enjoy what's there so far. It was always our intention to develop the game in stages and correct things via feedback as we go. We read and track what people are saying to make sure that we can make it better and better. For example, I've been hard at work creating lots of new enemies to help fill the world better. I can't say when updates will hit though. But when they do, I'll be here to explain what you can expect. Thanks again. ^_^
Just jumping in to say - I though the graphics were the best thing about this game. That's not to say the rest is bad (after the control fix), but the graphics are fantastic!
I wish you guys had been up-front with the 'game-in-stages' philosophy. I was really (unpleasantly) surprised when I hit the To Be Continued after an hour. For $3 I wasn't expecting a 10 hour game, but as Mr. Void has stated before many devs will abandon games after making grand promises.
