There is no iAP and the Assault ship is unlocked from the start. I hope they add DLC to this in updates.

In fact, more than DLC I hope Taito ports G-Darius to iOS at some point!

That's actually very handy from my viewpoint: with the money I save by not getting it due to it not being universal, I get to pick this one up for half price. :D

For those of you who have both... Do you prefer Rayforce or Dariusburst?

Dariusburst is a much more modern, yet classic horizontal shmup. Rayforce features the lock-on in 2-planes gimmick, and feels decidedly dated.

Added to that, Darius Burst was developed originally with content suited to PSP- i.e. more than just an arcade conversion, whereas Raystorm seems to be pretty much just that, with smartphone controls tacked on.

I usually won't bitch about price, however for me i wouldn't pay the appstore price for Raystorm, but i do think that Darius Burst IS worth the cash.

Now if only they'd hurry up and release it for the Euro store.

    RayForce. Raystorm is the sequel.

It feels as old as it actually is. :) Dariusburst is a muuuuuch newer game.

The only problem I had with the psp darius burst, was that it was WAY too easy. Hopefully this fixes that. ;)

I know, Rayforce hails from 1993 :p The difficulty is still a little on the low side, but still a challenge on the highest level.

Oh ya- totally forgot the name!

And to be fair, i loved both (haven't played Raycrisis), although RayStorm was my preferred game, due to the great soundtrack options on the PSOne.

Wow, just wow. This game exceeds all of my sky high expectations. Easily the best horizontal shooter for the iPad (haven't played Deathsmiles so can't say for iOS overall), and is instantly in my top 3 iOS shmups. With my penchant For horizontal scrollers (my heyday was Gradius, R-Type, etc.) this will likely wind up my favorite shooter and possibly favorite iOS game.

yeah.... REALLY enjoying this one so far...

I was pretty upset at first when I didn't see any difficulty settings... but then when I saw them in the options menu... set it to Hard, and BLAM-O!!! Havin a blast. =oD

what i really liked about another chronicle was playing with my wife at the arcade. after beating it, i wanted to try it with 3 or 4 players...so is multiplayer planned for this release? that's really what'll get me to buy it (i guess 2 copies since my wife'll want to play too).

Imagine that. Full Darius arcade conversion with two or three iPads all lined up together. :)

Oh hell yes. Buying this at midnight, no question - not really much more to say! Uh... G-Darius would also be nice? Raystorm? Raycrisis? (Rayforce was about the only one I wouldn't buy. :D ) Get some Zuntata on iTunes (or preferably an MP3 store I can purchase from, since I *cough* don't like iTunes *cough* but hey, needs must and all that)? EDIT: Oh, crap, apparently they already are on iTunes (not had the iPod long, could have sworn I'd looked and found nothing). Goodbye, more money.

And yes, everyone outright whining about the price - especially the troll on the front page - needs to shut up (fair enough if you're just saying 'Ah, damn, can't afford it yet' though, obviously :p).
