I can't really do that sice the injuries are determined by how he falls. If I totally skipped the falling I would need to make the medical bill random, which wouldn't be good. The only possibility would be a fast-forward effect but that may cause other issues as well. There have been a few requests for a skip button but it's really one of the main aspects of the game. Thank you for the input.
i understand. it's just that it may get frustrating to see him fail over and over if you just want to get him land right quickly.
I don't really see the point to skipping it - the animation is indeed one of the coolest parts of the game, and it's not like it's very long. But I'm curious what issues you think might crop up if you iterated over the normal ragdoll physics logic while skipping the screen paints and animation pauses? Isn't that stuff totally deterministic?
I don't see why not; it's all physics calculations. I think perhaps more to the point, is injury calculation necessary in practise mode? I can't see why skipping it would make any difference when the amount of the bill is irrelevant since you don't lose it anyway; it's more a curiosity for those who want to see just how badly they screwed up during practise mode. I'd think it could be safely skipped in this instance. It's only during actual career mode gameplay that it matters.
I'm just not sure that it's possible with the way the game is designed. Like you, I think the falling is a fun part of the game and adds to the desire to complete the jump, and to the relief when you finally do. I can look into it though.
Except that practice mode also serves as the "playground" where you can achieve highscores for the leaderboards. I suppose one solution would be when practicing during a tour the whole crash could be skipped and no crash score is created. Hmmmm.....
Upcoming Update News The new 1.1 update now includes (so far): - leaderboard enhancements - addresses crashes some players have reported - made practicing a jump less cumbersome both from the schedule page (not pretty but it works), and from the popup that says "You are low on cash, want to practice this jump?" - added a few more cars and trucks to the freeway in the Highway Hell jump. More chances to get run over = more injury goodness! - few other collision bugs. - I am HOPING to add more of Dave's one-liners into the game for this update. It's the only thing in this list that has not actually been completed After I test this update thoroughly I will submit it to Apple. I will do a more substantial update after this one. For now, I am only addressing things that really need to be fixed asap. If y'all have more jump ideas I'd still love to hear them!
how about if you finish the tour or get a certain injury bill you unlock a new character to ride with?
I do have anice 2nd outfit for Dave that I didnt put in the game....flowered Hawaiian shirt, green plaid pants, and pink helmet, gloves and shoes. Thought that maybe if you got too low on cash I'd make the player suffer with that one! Hah!! Ya some high speeds can be coaxed out of that bike. I think in the 140s is the fastest I've gotten.
I experimented with my new found speed last night until I fell asleep. I actually thought I saw 163, but I was tired. If I recreate it I'll post a screen-shot.
