I'm glad I waited on this one. Only a buck for a quality game like this makes this game mighty tempting.
I can absolutely understand the reasoning for the price drop. But please recognize that not sticking to one's principles can also be the undoing of one's success, no matter how trifling the thing might seem. And I do recognize that my analogy wasn't quite where it needed to be, either, but it was a step in the right direction. Analogies are never quite right, are they? I wish all people held politicians accountable, too. If people felt the way I did, there wouldn't be a whole heck of a lot of incumbents getting re-elected in November. You are still the cool dev and you have been diplomatic. I'm not asking for apologies. I just wanted to let you know how the decision affected me. Take it for what it's worth. And for what it's worth, I think the lite version would have been a great help to boost sales, as there are a ton of games that I have purchased that I never would have without getting that taste first. Also, I haven't seen one review site that featured Dave. I can't count the number of games I've purchased after reading an impressive review. Perhaps filtering out some of those codes to review sites could have boosted sales.
price drops shouldnt get people mad. although you paid for it at a higher price i think you should understand the dev's point of view. i m thinking that he's trying to take advantage of the situation hes in ( top 25 apps) and hopes the price drop will help the app jump to the top ten or top 5. Most people are saying this is a great game so i dont think anybody should be dissapointed for spending an extra buck?
I don't know, I figured everybody had it by now. As for more levels...oh boy, I haven't even had time to think about it yet. I suppose I could make room for more, but I'd have to clear the leaderboards...if I added them to tour mode anyways. The leaderboards have several cheaters anyways but adding levels to Tour Mode would would kind of screw up everybodys stats as well, assuming people would care. I have a fix for the boards. Incidentally, someone mentioned game reviews. There are several out there, and a few video reviews (Crazy Mike did a funny one). Can't help it if the sites don't use the codes I sent. Doesn't bother me. Dave is doing quite well, and I have you all to thank for that. I'm very grateful for the success Daredevil Dave has seen. It's been a bit overwhelming actually
sorry kevd. i wasnt coming at you or anything, just offering my insight into the situation. it was also early when i wrote my post and i didnt feel like looking back for other posts about it. after reading yours, i do feel that if he did assure you the price wouldnt drop any lower (meaning that waiting any longer wasnt going to save you anything) i totally understand where youre coming from.
By the way, I was just kidding about more levels. I do hope you can give us more in the future, but I don't actually expect anything for at least a few months. Maybe a 2nd tour available as DLC so leader boards aren't messed up. I'd pay a few bucks for that. Or a Dave 2 that you could release sometime and then offer both games together in a deluxe tour version!
Can we get a european version where Dave won't have the problem to get no medical treatment at the end?
Funny little story about that: A few big publishers contacted me about Dave a few months ago. One was EA. The other is based in the UK...pretty big pulisher. Anyways, for a short while I had removed the whole retirement aspect from the game. At that time, if you ran out of cash it would say "You cannot afford to pay the doctor so we are sending you to the free clinic downtown. Sorry Dave" The publisher told me they didn't understand that, and it took me a few minutes to realize that it was probably unknown to them what a "free clinic" is
Thank you! Every bit counts, though being featured on iTunes was the biggest shove. Dave has done exceptionally well but I need him to hang on a bit longer up there
It's about time it gets a proper front page treatment. Better late than never thought, I suppose. Congrats, schplurg! Here's hoping this gives you a big ol' boost and helps fuel your rise to the top 10.
