Aren't we ALL freaks in one way or another? I know I am

    Edit:
Thanks to the mods for swiftly removing some objectionable content from this thread. I see all those posts are gone. Nice!

No kidding! And when I remove the scores they just pop back up when they log in again. I ddin't know about this exploit until after the game was accepted.

My update will not only fix that but punish the cheaters as well. They will not be happy about it.

  3. Just to clear the air, my reference to calling "Mike" a "Putz" was a direct reference to Super Dave Osborne, who was constantly referring to Mike Walden, the announcer character, as a putz while mocking him for his dumb questions in the post-stunt interviews. I wasn't calling anyone here a putz, that was supposed to be a Super Dave quote I (apparently mistakenly) thought would have been understood as such to anyone who might remember Super Dave's time on Bizarre and his spinoff show in the early 80s, given that other than be terrible at stunts, calling Mike Walden a putz was probably the other thing he was best remembered for.

    Now I feel old. :)

You know what, I was wondering if it was a reference to that show, but my name is Mike so it seemed aimed at me. You're probably not old compared to me. I remember seeing Dave as a recurring guest on Letterman.

Thanks for pointing that out! It's all good.

  5. Yeah, I used to watch Bizarre when it was new too, as well as the Super Dave show -- though to be honest I didn't really care for the show itself. I think the charm of Super Dave's skits on Bizarre was that the skits were shorter and didn't overstay their welcome. The spinoff just dragged it out too much.

But yeah ... I kinda thought that Daredevil Dave's bravado and pride-shattering failures seemed a lot like there was some Super Dave in the inspiration for the character, which is why I made the reference in the first place. :)

You're not the only one who makes the connection...most of the video reviews mention Super Dave as well as E.K. Hope I don't get sued. I may look up some old videos and check it out.

OMG Dave hit his head too much and went bonkers then messed with schplurg's computer and made the game $.99

  8. I doubt you'll get sued. There are certain similarities in his attire -- but then that's pretty typical 70s/80s motorcycle stuntman attire anyway; Evel Knievel wore the same sort of American red-white-blue garb too. There are also no specific similarities in his general appearance or attitude. Like I said, the only connection was that he's a motorcycle stuntman who, through accidental or deliberate gameplay, can be made to look inept and has the ragdoll physics to play it out.

Besides, Super Dave was based on Evel Knievel anyway. A remarkably bad Evel Knievel. :)

It's normal when a game or price is updated for it to be inaccessible for a short time.

Try again in a little bit. It will work, I promise.

    Now...where's Dave....

WTH???? I thought you weren't going to go as low as $0.99? The game's a lot of fun and I'm glad that I bought it, but now I am a little pissed.... I bought it at $1.99 because you flat out said it wouldn't go lower. I could have waited for more promo contests and tried to get it for free, but I respected you and figured it was worth spending the money. Don't get me wrong, I'm ok with having spent the money, but it's really the principle of the matter. You can feel free to price your games however you want, but don't tell me you're not going to do something only to turn around and do it days later..... I'd rather you just said... "yup, it's a dollar off. Get it now." Don't tell me anything about future intentions if you can't live up to it or you risk alienating gamers. Your formerly untarnished image has been smudged tonight.....

I'd encourage those who don't have it to get it now because it really is a good game and $0.99 is a ridiculous price, but..... at this rate, it'll be free next week, so.........

Sorry, I know I said that and I didn't forget it when I lowered the price, but I really had no choice. Unfortunately, if you don't have a big publishers name you just can't compete with all the $.99 games. It's sad.

I knew people would be upset - but even being featured by Apple doesn't guarantee anything.

And when you're competing with utter trash like this that is actually doing better than Dave (Un - f'n - believable)

    Mirror App

    There aren't any other options.

So again, I apologize. I've tried my best to be good to the customers, I really have.

It sucks that you have to go to those lengths to compete. It is sad to see what kind of crap outsells quality games like yours.

Again, I'm not disappointed that I bought the game at $1.99. I'm actually happy to give you money and support you. I'm just tired of seeing developers make promises that they don't keep. That's part of what makes gamers wait out the $0.99 sales. They don't want to spent $5 for a game that promises future updates and the like, only to see none of it. They figure that they'll grab it when it drops to $0.99 and it won't hurt as much when the promises don't pan out.

    I guess I'm just disappointed.....

  16. Save your sanctimony. Sometimes people make mistakes, and sometimes they do something they said they weren't going to because things occur to them that change the way they're going to have to handle a given situation. The iPhone market is messed up beyond repair. The race to the bottom killed any hopes of reasonable pricing, and developers who know jack about marketing and take the easy way of promoting are making it impossible for developers of some substance to compete, even when they're competing against utter crap.

This here is a great game. Unfortunately, the market is such that schplurg has to do what he feels is necessary to make this game the success he wants it to be, and that has necessitated a change in plans. It might suck a little, but that's life on the App Store. Has been for a good long while now. It's an unfortunate and sad reality. Holding that against a developer who belatedly comes to this realization just makes you sound whiny.

I totally understand and I agree. It sucks. I'd be disappointed too.

When I first saw that mirror app I thought ..."well it could use the camera, but no...the camera is on the other side of the phone" so I clicked the link.

You see your reflection in the glass screen of your phone! That's the app! And do you see the screenshot they use in the listing? It's totally phony. Apple approves this stuff. They only made them add to the description after tons of people complained to Apple. You should have seen it before. Blatant false ad.

Anyways, I digress. I can make excuses all day, but bottom line, I lowered the price. I knew I would take some heat but I decided it was overall the best thing to do.

I want to give out another code but I need to think of another little contest.

    Stay tuned...

By the way, the codes I'm giving away from now on are actually gift codes that I bought off iTunes. I will need to PM the winners a link rather than just a code it seems.

Please, if you offer an HD Ipad version, make it one and the same, so us that bought your app for iphone can enjoy it on the ipad as well. OR... if you do end up doing a separate HD version, at least offer a coupon code to current (read Loyal fans) purchasers to get the ipad version of the game for $0.99. Also, if you do a separate HD version and we iphone dave purchasers have to pay for it. don't do like most devs do and just up the graphics and release the same damn game. Up the ante, make it different add more content, or add different modes or something. Thanks for making a great game.
