Yeah, each difficulty setting has something to offer. It doesn't have to be total insanity to be enjoyable. And like Phoenix, I think there is a duality to it. You can really focus on the bullets, the grazing and the score, or you can focus on just doing enough to survive and enjoying the ride in general.

And my review for Phoenix and Danmaku collectively is this: GET THEM ;)

Oh and I just ran into the Danmaku True Boss....I could have really used a few EMP's from Phoenix right then.

Is there any chance a "Retry" or "Restart" option could be added to the FreePlay Mode?

I've been thinking about this too. It would be great if we could just restart from the beginning of the stage on free play modes and boss modes with one touch of a virtual button. Or maybe a 3-touch tap outside the bigger circle around your ship?

The engine isn't set up for it currently but I'll try to work it in a patch!

I've sent review codes to both TA and app spy, hopefully they will eventually do a review for the game!

  6. Wow, no TA review yet? Remember to ask them to try it with icade, they might get another experience with it with icade, and may try it out, depending of course if anyone at TA has an icade core joystick.

Just out of curiosity... What engine do you work with?

It's my own homebrew engine :)

Ah, right on. Was gonna say, I'd be surprised if it wasn't something you didn't at least have a hand in helping to create. =oP

Connector you should let them borrow yours, if you can part with it for a couple days ;)

  11. I'm sure some of the TA staff has an icade. It would be hard to resist trying this game especially cause you can play with a joystick.

But sure, heck if they want, come on over to my house, then we can play it on my hdmi tv with my icade core, and best yet, my 25 foot hdmi cable. Sexy! :p

Alright - beat the game with no upgrades - now whoever sent me that 'Challenge' - let me get back to score chasing stage 2. =oP

If this was facebook, i'd click like.

  15. I challenge you to do it with an icade core for a different experience, plus it's harder, would be more of a challenge for you and probably more fun.

  18. Ahh, I see, ok then, I rescind my challenge! Haha. But give it a try sometime. Shmups like this, Phoenix hd, and Blazing Star play perfect with my icade core. Plus it is a little more difficult, so almost another level of difficulty for you really expert players. Even though, I wonder if it would be a little more frustrating cause it is a little tougher to control. I think for casual shmupers, they would prefer the icade core over touch controls. But for experts like you, I am not sure. So I would be curious to hear your impressions someday.

yeah, I'm a little bummed that I missed out on the sale. We're a little strapped for cash ATM - all 3 kids just had their birthdays over the last month, and our car just crapped out (costing us $1,200 to fix)... Right now, I'm just kinda lucky that I bought a $150 iTunes gift card right when we got our tax checks and that, so far, this year hasn't been too full of gotta have games (for me anyway). I am still hoping I'll be able to get one this year. If not, then I'm definitely gonna snag one, no matter if it's on sale or not, when we get our next years tax checks, and I get a new iPad. =oP
