The recent release of Car Jack Streets got me in the mood for some GTA fun so I purchased Chinatown Wars for DS.

I'm not gonna compare the games, so don't worry about that. I just wanted some Liberty City frenzy, but, somewhat to my dismay, the Liberty City in GTA:CW is the "new" Liberty City found in GTAIV, which, personally, I don't favor over the GTA III era Liberty City. It's a personal preference some share and others don't. I know Liberty City in GTAIV is supposed to be more like NYC, and some people dig that, but I don't, and I'm from (and live in) NYC. I thought the less obvious NYC take off in GTA III era LC was more...I dunno...creative and fun. One of the minor quibbles I had with GTAIV, tbqh.

Put it to you this way: I'm more of a DC Comics fan than a Marvel fan. Even though I'm from NYC and enjoy Marvel's characters, I don't like that pretty much all of Marvel's comics are centered around a version of NYC. I just much prefer the wholly created, but oddly familiar locales of Metropolis and Gotham, with their own unique histories and architecture and cultures.

So, anyway, I decided to buy the one GTA game that I only had passing familiarity with that was set in LC (the others I'm less familiar with, London '69 and '61, obviously aren't set in LC): GTA Advance for Gameboy Advance.

Got it the other day in the mail. Ebay bought (red flag right there).

    Guess what?

    A friggin' bootleg.

    *sighs

    I hate being ripped off.

Thankfully the seller is gonna give me a refund.

Still, I'm more pissed because it's not a bad little game. Hell, if Rockstar ported it to iTouch/Phone with some upgrades, I'd be more than willing to buy it and would recommend it. But I ain't playing something that's gonna lose a save after a few days, or, worse yet, fry my DS lite (which I've read can happen).

Anybody else have experience with GBA or DS bootlegs, or bootlegs of games from other systems?
