It seems the developers may have confused matters unnecessarily here. The app description mentions that the game is free for a limited time (and the base app is indeed free), but the game also includes a "50% off launch sale" for the unlock IAP (bringing it down to $2). From that, we can tell that the IAP will be $4 after the sale, and if the base app is going to gain a price tag, that'll likely be another $1 or $2, bringing the game to $5 or $6 in total.

It's not the clearest situation; based on the information provided and the existence of an "unlock full version" IAP, I'd initially assumed the basic game was going to be free, and that the "free for a limited time" referred specifically to that IAP.

I hope that you are right. I will wait and see if this is the case because I don't have a problem paying full price for the game but I would not support it if it is indeed a paid game with IAP for full unlock and ad removal.

What region are you in? The game will be available at the normal AppStore updating time for your region. In the USA this game will be available at 11PM EST tonight.

Uhm... this might be a pretty stupid question, but... why don't you take advantage of the sale and download and buy it now?
This way you wouldn't support the paid game with IAP.

For me it is a matter of principle. I won't support a developer who charges for half a game with ads and offers IAP to remove the ads and unlock the full game. I have no problem supporting games that are free with IAP for full unlock and/or ad removal but when you charge up front to try plus there are ads and charge more money on the backside for full unlock and ad removal I will not support these types of business models with any money or downloads.

Edit: Just to be clear, If the game remains free and the price of the IAP is the only thing that increases then I will happily support this developer by purchasing the IAP. For me the biggest concern with games isn't the price but rather the set-up and use of IAP. I would be happy to buy games on iOS for $60 each if we could get rid of all the IAP for everything except expansions and the like. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of people who share this view otherwise the AppStore wouldn't be in it's current state.

This is a very clever and accessible little board game. But do note the "little". This is far from Carcassonne, LoW, Settlers, Agricola, or any other worker placement game in terms of depth, the evil escape phase notwithstanding. There are some clever and strategic mechanics, but the game is still very casual, and I doubt the currents mechanics a would offer much longevity or foundation for an active async community.

But as far as quick, accessible, polished and casual board games go, this is very nice work indeed!

Well, it's rather important to note that this is because DLT isn't a worker placement game; it's a quick-playing competitive puzzle game in the vein of Hey, That's My Fish! or Mr Jack Pocket. The borrowing of Carcassonne's tile-laying mechanic and general visual appearance seems to have had the unfortunate side-effect of leading some people to believe DLT is something it isn't, nor was ever intended to be.

The whole point of the game is to be an uncomplicated, fast-paced, fun 3-5 minute experience, which is part of the reason the developer was confused by people who hadn't yet played the game saying they didn't have time to play a match in one sitting.

Indeed Appletini as always making total sense when it comes to board games ;)
It is super quick to play. I learnt it and played 2 complete games in about 5 minutes! :)
Good for a little blast of something semi strategic when you don't want to dive into a longer game. I like it, it's very slickly made.

15 mins left til I can download! Can't wait! I played Carcassone since 2000. Never could stand the scoring. Finally something with a theme and goal I'm excited about! Long over due! Hope for expansions too ;)

Ok I purchased the full upgrade for 1.99 which included remove ads. Then started a new game. In th middle of the game, an ad popped up and bumped me out of the game. It happened very fast and I could not recreate it. Could you keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone else has this issue? Thanks.

So this is free for a couple days yet there is $2 IAP for the full version? Downloaded and opened to confirm this is the case. Uninstalled without even trying. Advertising that it's free for a limited time but having IAP to purchase the full version is very misleading.

Is that really necessary? By looks of it, it is misleading.

It's not free if you have to pay to unlock it. It is misleading and I was going to dl it until I saw you had an IAP to unlock what they're advertising as free. Kind of like pop tarts and their "real fruit"

Dude! Are you reading what I'm reading? People dl then deleting before playing bc of ads in a free game that is free with an IAP for remove ads? Seriously? After Nimbits article and the big debate over Apples ad changes decision? Come on.

I like the game. It's well done yet a little lacking unlike Carcassone. But it's a small indie dev, who is interacting with the TA community. I swear TA members are fickle F%*#s anymore compared to the early days.
